After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

Anyone here know if Shinta had a archive site?

$Loftydreamer 1 hour 49 minutes ago
Oh I definitely don't subscribe to any particular scene. It just happens to be the genre I listen to my most. One of all time favorite bands being Splashdown.

`Sakiera 1 hour 53 minutes ago
Just so long as you aren't one of those stuck up indie kids

$Loftydreamer 1 hour 54 minutes ago
I pretty much am across all genres. I have so much music I can listen to music nonstop for an entire year without hearing a repeat. Though I seem to spend more time with indie music and local bands.

`Sakiera 1 hour 57 minutes ago
I listen to a variety of genres ranging from Sara Bareilles to The Dillinger Escape Plan to Monty Are I to Baracuda

$Loftydreamer 2 hours ago
They really are. So are you a metal fan in general. How about other genres?

`Sakiera 2 hours 2 minutes ago
I've only heard a few Epica songs but from what I've gathered they're quite good

$Loftydreamer 2 hours 10 minutes ago
Well I was talking about music in relation to Gaga. I love symphonic metal. A couple of my favorites are Leaves' Eyes, Visions of Atlantis, Delain, Epica, and Xandria

Have you ever fallen in love?

2 years 11 months ago

"It hasn't happened for me yet, but hey, I got plenty of time left (turning 18 in February) and besides, if it's really true love, it's not something that's rushed, right?

Maybe I'll meet someone special in my upcoming four years of college..."

BitTorrent - Why Use It?

2 years 11 months ago

"Bittorrent, for the most part, is better than Gnutella (Limewire) and other P2P networks simply because it is more reliable. Since each well-seeded file has many people seeding it, you can almost always finish your download. This isn't true for Gnutella, however; you can be downloading a file only one person on the network has, and when they disconnect, you may never see that person again (and hence never obtaining the file).

On top of this, since quality torrents are a little harder to find than the search-n-go method Gnutella uses, specialized trackers, and subsequently, nice little communities form."

Windows Vista

2 years 11 months ago

"At this point, I think it would wise to avoid Vista completely. Not only is a horrible resource hog, but have you guys heard of some of the DRM limitations the OS has? It's really crazy. Microsoft has gotten in bed with the RIAA and MPAA, and in a nutshell, this is what they intend to do with Vista:

- Coerce hardware companies into not releasing ANY technical details whatsoever to the public, therefore obliterating open-source drivers for these devices (this primarily affects Linux)
- Disallow the user from creating full-quality backups of his HD-DVD and Bluray discs; only one backup is allowed, and it will have fuzzy, low-quality video and audio
- While playing HD-DVDs and Bluray discs, any video and audio output that does not support encryption is disabled.
- Unsigned drivers (those not approved by Microsoft) cannot be installed
- Microsoft will be able to turn off any piece of hardware in your computer if they see fit to do so. This includes any home-brewed cards.
- DRM is a core part of the system.

So basically, Vista GREATLY restricts what one can do with his media... pretty bad news for fansubbers and anybody who downloads anime. And besides that, the weird fuzzy glass effect makes you feel drunk when using it >_<

I know I won't be buying Vista. My Ubuntu box and Mac have served me well and will continue to. And while I haven't needed one yet, if I ever do, any Windows installations I have to make will be Windows 2000 or XP."

Clamp The Anime Company

what do you perfer, watching anime on tv or on computer?

2 years 11 months ago

"It just depends on availability, really... If I can watch it on Adult Swim, I'll set my TiVo on it and watch on my TV. If it's not though, I watch it on my computer, which really isn't bad at all. My 20" widescreen LCD and nice speaker system actually have a nicer picture and better sound than my dumb low-res CRT TV."

Dubbed vs. Subbed

2 years 11 months ago

"For me, it all depends on the anime and the quality of the dub. Contrary to the opinion of subber fanboys, good/amazing english dubs DO exist - Good examples of the high quality english dubs include but are not limited to Cowboy Bebop (honestly, Steve Blum fits Spike so much better than the Japanese voice talent does), Vision of Escaflowne, Full Metal Alchemist, Full Metal Panic, and Fruits Basket.

That being said, if the anime in question has a good English dub, I'll most definitely watch that over a sub. Why? No, it's not because I'm lazy or a slow reader, I just feel that subs detract from the visual beauty of the production since you have to set your eyes at the bottom of the screen through the entire episode. On top of this, in some cases, they even interfere with any mood setting that is trying to be set forth, although that is probably my ability to identify with english speaking characters better coming through.

Now if the said anime has a craptastic dub, I'll watch the subbed. In such cases the bad voice talents would hurt the anime far more than the subs themselves would."

My First Vector

2 years 11 months ago

"I understand your problem, shellybear - the pen tool can be a bitch to control if you don't know how to control it specifically. I'd suggest reading a couple pen tool tutorials on DeviantArt - that's what put me on the right track.

As for your composition, I think it'll look good if you can redraw the character to be smoother and add a simple, subtle background. Also - while it's just my personal opinion, I'd also suggest making your sig a little less noticeable - smaller text on the bottom edge of the paper usually works best."

"
not my vector, i was allowed to use it
http://img171.imageshack.us/my.php?image=fmadk9.jpg
Good job on the vector and background, both of those look great. They are vividly colored, and the vector is nice and clean.

Here's what bothers me about this wall:
#1: The leaves on the tree have no outlines, and feel flat and "separate" from the tree
#2: The shadow from the tree feels very flat - it doesn't "wrap" around Ed's arm like it should.
#3: The shadow on Ed's arm is the wrong color. It should be a darker, slightly more saturated version of his skin tone instead of black."

Full Metal Panic! Tessa Desktop ~ Updated!

Yeah, the bg looks empty, and the vector is great!
I'm sure that if you redo the bg it'll look even greater! ^^/
Good lucky o.o

Thanks for the praise :) Tessa isn't a vector though - she's high-resolution rasterized art created in Photoshop.

As for the background, I still don't know what to do... I'm trying to go for an underwater feeling with it, since Tessa is the captain of the TDD-1 submarine, but I don't know if that's what's being conveyed. I'd add the TDD-1 to the blank area of the picture, but scans of the ship are --impossible-- to find. It's rather frustrating. If anybody has any ideas at all that would work to fill the empty space, please let me know.

Here's a slight update. I added Japanese for Full Metal Panic! and Tessa's name, as well as cleaned up some unintentional straight edges that were on the "rays".

Renton Wallpaper

2 years 11 months ago

"A little too simple for my taste, and Renton looks kinda funny just floating above the ground in black space (the reflection gives this impression) :P I'd also recommend increasing the brightness and saturation on renton, as both of those are pretty low at the moment."

Full Metal Panic! Tessa Desktop ~ Updated!

2 years 11 months ago

"Hey guys!

This wallpaper is the first time I've tried seriously to create a 2D desktop. I've made a couple 3D desks in the past.

User posted image

I spent almost 2½ days entirely redrawing the scan of Tessa that's used here, and I had to create her left arm and the end of her ponytail from scratch, as the scan I used did not include them. I hope they don't look unnatural or "forced". I Here's the scan I used:

When I redrew the scan, I drew it at a very large size (4000x4000) so it scaled down very nicely.

I'm open to any/all criticism and comments.
