After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

I kind of agree with Rabbitking, I don't popcorn. But rabbitking, that sounds kind of harsh.

Marriage Proposal

7 months 5 days ago

"I certainly am not going to propose in front of thousands at a game...only to be shot down in flames a la AC/DC. If that were to be case, I would kindly request someone to start the countdown before I get locked up for manslaughter/murder/etc. That's not how I propose.

First, I have to be with my partner for a while, and after some time, that's when I make my move. And once she accepts, then the plan is to not let some thugs try to sabotage the wedding a la whatever action flicks are out there, with exploding altars and brides with blades or guns, or what have you. (Although, I wouldn't mind experiencing that a bit...I just would have to able to transform into someone that can kick butt...and the genders would have to be swapped. But that's just me.)

So I take a cautious approach, always sure to not be off in terms of timing. But you never know relationships in this day and age. Why, I think that divorces, break-ups, being a ex 2 or 3 times over...it's part of the American Dream and the American Story.
It's awesome."

Addictions

7 months 5 days ago

"I got this one addiction to this game I own on my PC: FIFA 09 by EA Sports. I like the game, but I really am nuts about the commentary for the match. I just laugh at the commentary in Spanish, whether by Manolo or by Enrique "El Perro" Bermudez. I kid you not, I love this game, and while I do approve of the Pro Evolution Soccer/Winning Eleven series, EA Sports' FIFA series holds it own well. And with the new system I got, I can't get enough of it. I even sim games overnight, listening to the soundtrack, which includes songs like "Jager Yoga" by CSS and "Olympic Airways" byh Foals and "Kids" by MGMT.

This is a game I can't get enough of...aside from the N64 emulation."

Do you laugh alone in the street?

7 months 5 days ago

"Believe it or not, there are many occasions that I do laugh in the street. Either they come out of two sources.

1. I am looking at some mistake I made from a different perspective, or something random I did in perspective, or
2. I am listening to something on my iPod that is funny (some stand-up routine, a song, or a radio show).

Not a lot of people seem to notice. Those who do though, I ignore. As the Supertramp song "Take The Long Way Home" goes, "If you're the joke of the neighborhood, should you care if you're feelin' good?" True words, true words."

Small things that immensely piss you off?

7 months 5 days ago

"Everybody has their pet peeves. They are inavoidable. You know you don't like bearing with them, and yet here they are.

For me, there are a number of things I don't like:

*teams losing games conventional wisdom would have them winning
*error messages
*my family nagging me for being loud
*more error messages
*screwing up a call, a letter, or anything, and not finding out until some time later
*no coffee in the house, or diet cola
*even more error messages
*my other co-workers slacking off

And that's just scratching the surface; I got a lot more pet peeves too."

K-ON!

7 months 5 days ago

"K-ON is a show that is picking up plenty of steam after going on the air. The two characters who, I feel, are Saimoe material are Yui and Mio. If Tsukasa had a protege, Yui Hirasawa would fit the mold. The fact that she will be the one driving the riffs and the melody adds to her potential to be trouble in the 2chan and Anizon contests. Mio's tsundere demeanor makes her popular with the fans, too. I think Mio herself may cause a rise in the sales of bass guitars.

Ritsu and Tsumugi also have their looks to them, with Ritsu paralleling Konata's bubblyness and Mugi's affluent background paralleling Miyuki. What I want to see is how K-ON! separates itself from being a Lucky Star clone and being a class by itself.

And I am waiting for episode 4. Get your drawing boards and cap machines and tissues ready, you followers here on AP!"

Can God Exist Outside of Religion?

7 months 5 days ago

"This is question that is worth meditating over one hour, two hours, three, four, five, a day, a week, a year, and/or a lifetime. If you ask me, if you believe God can exists outside of religion, sure. More power to you if that is your belief. For me, gods and deities are like conspiracies: they exist because people believe in it. Satan exists because people believe that he does. Jesus exists because people believe he does. Allah, Jehovah, Yahweh, the Dao, Buddha, the Sikh Gurus...they all exist because people believe in it. And they benefit from that belief.

They can exist outside of religion, sure. Why shouldn't they? After all, there has to be at least one of the faithful who believes it outside of their house of worship: be it a synagogue, temple, church, whatever house of the holy you make of. They can exist if you believe they do, and they WILL exist if you commit to that belief.

That's my two cents, right there."

How long will anime be with you?

8 months 1 week ago

"I've been an anime fan for a little over a decade. I still remember August 1995 as being the month where Sailor Moon and Usagi Tsukino (still among my top 10 heroines of all time) changed my life, in terms of what I am an enthusiast for, what I follow, and so on. I really can't set a timeline on when this will all end at this point. I know that anime and manga is here, and it's here to stay for the long haul.

When will my passion end? I don't know. But I can still remember what got me hooked in the first place."

Clannad The After Story

"I personally hope that things will turn around next week. Nothing would bum me out than to not see the Illusionary World girl not play a massive part in how the outcome of After Story is determined.

Overall, I have to say that in terms of plot, animation and voice acting, both arcs of Clannad have done very well.

Otherwise, the onus is on the Illusionary World girl and the doll to sort things out. Let's see how things turn out in the final episode, AP denizens."

"I agree with most of the lot here on AP: How will Asuka be portrayed in Evangelion 2.0? Will she be an annoyance, or will she have the kick-ass mentality that many fans are waiting for? She's gonna be under scrutiny in the months and days leading to the release. I, personally, can't wait to see how this turns out.

Start the countdown."

Anyone listen to genres that are unknown/underground?

8 months 2 weeks ago

"I don't if I can say that I listen to genres that are unknown or underground. But I can say that I listen top genres that WERE unknown/underground. Take for example, punk rock. I'm a Ramones fan, and they made it big going underground in the mid-70's. No one ever heard of playing music composed of simple power chords until this band arrived to prove that music that is simple can make a significant impact.

That being said, I think any music that is unknown/underground won't stay unknown/underground for long. Someone is going to take notice, and that someone is going to out there and say, "Hey, this genre needs some attention." Before you know it, it's another part of the mainstream music experience. How about that.

Again, I can't say i listen to genres that are CURRENTLY unknown, but I can say that I have listened to genres that WERE unknown/underground. My 2 cents, APers."

Suzumiya Haruhi season 2 -- April 2009

9 months 2 weeks ago

"Well, well, well! I think the millions upon millions of Haruhiists are going to raising their hands in celebration, singing "Haruhillujah she is back!" For me, I knew that with the series still going on in manga and light novel form, there was due to be a sequel.

I reckon that everyone on AnimePaper, and other communities like deviantART, MiniTokyo and the imageboards (4chan, 2ch, etc.) had to wait a long time to see if this would really happen, but now, it is certified and canvassed: Haruhi Suzumiya is indeed, back."

do u think barack obama will do a good job in america?

9 months 2 weeks ago

"As it is right now, I think President Obama is handling his first 100 days without too much undue duress. The people on Capitol Hill are trying to get some stimulus bill passed, but when you have someone like the sore-losing senator John McCain stating that "Divided We Will Remain," nothing will be done.

But overall, our new Commander-in-Chief is handling things well so far."

Small things that immensely piss you off?

9 months 2 weeks ago

"There are a number of little things that turn me off in a big way. And a number of them have to do with computers. Let there be no mistake about it, and I make it clear: I am a stickler for performance, and I want to use systems that can perform at the highest capacity. High performance leads to high productivity. And low performance leads to low productivity.

So I have no sympathy for computers that are slow, and browsers/programs that keep hanging at the drop of a hat. I mean, I have a desktop, and I go onto it, and I try to switch tabs in my browser (I use Firefox as a general rule), and then the it says: "[Name of Page] - Mozilla Firefox (Not Responding)." It gets under my skin when I am try to chat, upload this and that, and to see a program fail to respond means that either my browser is a memory hog, or my system has seen better days.

I curse at it, smack it from the side out of insubordination, and I have to Ctrl-Alt-Del the system to bring up the Task Manager and kill the process. Sometimes, I even have to go far as to hit the Reset button on my system to get back to where I was before. It's not something I like to do, but I have to do it every now and then in case these little things keep coming back. It's routine."

Electronic music

"Although I am more partial to rock bands like the Ramones, Clash, AC/DC and ZZ Top, there that bouncy, Friday night part of me that likes trance music from artists like Airbase, Tiesto and Ministry of Sound. Trance and rave are my favorite electronic genres. Soaring melody and high spirits...it's what my ears feast on when the night calls.

I am also a fan of the Blue Man Group. I recommend "Audio," their debut album, for a couple of their tracks: "Drumbone" and "Rods and Cones.""

Clannad Anime Discussion

9 months 3 weeks ago

"It's a gripping series that you can't get enough of. After watching one episode of CLANNAD, I took in another, and another, and another, and it was settled: I couldn't get enough of the show. And it doesn't end with just the first series. After Story (which is currently running) takes the whole story one step further by exploring the supporting cast, segueing to Tomoyo starting a family (the biggest challenge of his life).

When that part of the arc began, I thought, "Oh man, we are in for a fun winter, because we are heading into the home stretch." If you haven't seen it already, I suggest you check out CLANNAD After Story, because everything good about this show comes full circle. Absolute classic."

AP's 2009 Academy Awards thread

"After I went through a search of the forums and the like, I was surprised that there wasn't a thread on the upcoming 2009 Academy Awards. I created this thread to have you lot post your two cents on the nominees listed here. Just a little run-through of the films up for Best Picture:

* The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
* Frost/Nixon
* Milk
* The Reader
* Slumdog Millionaire

By the way, the official site for the show is here. So, with that said, I would like to ask you lot on AnimePaper on who should win what, who has the best chance of winning Best Picture, but most importantly, your overall thoughts on the Oscars (good year, bad year, more of the same, etc.).

And...discuss."

Chaos ; Head [The Animation]

1 year 3 weeks ago

"Some people on my university anime forum called this show, simply, "Clannad on crack." Now I don't know if that's a fair assessment (well, the school uniforms, at least for the guys, are similar), but I think this is show that I'm really warming up to.

I also discussed the show with others from my club who told me, "If you don't like the main character [Takumi], then the series is doing it's job." They prognosticated Chaos;HEAd as another "wimp-turned-hero" series.

These are just opinions from my peers; take it with a grain of salt. If you ask me, again, this show is worth a watch."

Thats not funny

1 year 3 weeks ago

"I take this from a philosophical point of view. I believe that people like to laugh at other people's misfortunes because it's natural to show that, "Hey, look at me, I'm in a better position than you are. You have placed yourself in a position where we can make fun of you because it makes us feel good." The German word that is schadenfreude. It's natural to laugh at someone else's misery. And I think it's also natural for that schadenfreude to come back right at you in the form of karma.

All natural."

Hiiragi sister wars on 2chan

"I'm a little bit surprised at the final that will take place on the 2chan forums regarding this year's Anime Saimoe 2008 Tournament. It's gonna be a battle of the Hiiragi fraternal twins: Kagami vs. Tsukasa.

To be honest, I was hoping for Nagisa taking on Hinagiku, but I think that this final will confirm the relevance and importance of Lucky Star. To see these two meeting together for the final...it's gonna be amazing."

Lucky Star English Cast

1 year 2 months ago

"This may be a taboo term to talk about (or maybe not) but I believe that the fandubbers who added their voices to the show are much better than the ones the DVD grabbers got. It just feels more natural than what we ended up with.

While I understand Wendee Lee's importance as Konata, it just sounded flat and boring. And Kagami's and Miyuki's voice actresses in the official dub just flat-out stink. I'm sorry, it does. Shiraishi's English counterpart is passable, though, I will give you guys that.

But overall, the fandubbing lot who have their clips posted all over the Net (you can see some on the Tube...if they are still up) should have been given the roles, not Wendee Lee and Company. If that were the case...oha man, I would be singing like Al Sharpton at Rosa Parks's funeral on the coup d'etat of dubbing winnage."

What is good or what do you like about Lucky Star?

1 year 2 months ago

"I am going to take a little bit from a review that I posted on MIniTokyo regarding the series.
First ot all, what's great about this show is the slice-of-life aspect. It's is realistic, and is full of skits all around. I understand that a number viewers may scrunch their eyebrows at the questions the main characters ask, and the discussions that follow, and there are some punchlines that may be dubious to comprehend, but it does not affect the story overall. Different personalities and persuasions balance this show.

Second, I am gaga about the art. The artwork and direction is perhaps what Kagami Yoshimizu would want. The motions of the characters are fluid, and it just feels like the animation is clean from the get go. The details might need to be a bit more improvement, but it isn't not as much an issue because it holds its own.

Third, the opening hymn, "Motteke! Sailor Fuku" is a song that has been played so many times, and danced to so many times, that it is memorable, and characterizes the show. The OP and the show are inseparable, like peas in a pod. Like Konata and Kagami. Some of the background tunes are infectious, that you might tend to hum a few of them when the situation warrants it.

Overall, Lucky Star will either get you hooked, or it won't. If you ask me, it most likely will, regardless of degree, and it's a magnet that I can't get myself pulled away from without tearing my skin. Konata, Kagami, Tsukasa, Miyuki, and the other characters of this show are likable, memorable, and are unique in their own, quirky, slackerish ways, and the punchlines can provide a nice laugh or two, or three, or more.

That wraps it for me. Anyone else want to add their two cents on AP regarding LS??"

Do you cry alone in the street?

1 year 2 months ago

"It's very rare, for me, to cry publicly, unless I am at the foot of a disaster site, or if a family member dies in my arms (as if that will happen). But when I do, those tears come out like you wouldn't believe. When they fall, they are never hold back. And that will come out when I am really frustrated about something that is unsolveable, or when one of my teams is unable to stop a losing streak against one team.

This happened to me when I was watching a volleyball game, and my team lost...for the 10th straight time. I was kicked out afterwards for trying to launch a projectile at one of the members of the winning side in frustration. Fortunately for them (and unfortunately for me) it missed, adding to my chagrin and misery. That night, as I took the bus back home, I was inconsolable. If I had something to shoot with, I'd go Cho Seung-Hui on everyone, but I didn't have it available.

That's the thing: when I am frustrated about something, and when the people I follow are close to getting it done, but fail, I have nothing else to do but drown in my misery. When that times comes, the location isn't a factor. What matters is my eminent "loserhood," so to speak.

Again, rarely happens."
