Trick or Treat by ~chanelqueen17 3 weeks 5 days ago

^nat
After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

Ever try watching Anime around other people?

2 weeks 6 days ago

"I generally don't mind if there are people around when I watch anime. A lot of people around here grew up watching stuff like Mazinger Z, Robotech, Astroboy, Ranma, Saint Seiya and other shows, so now anime is seen as something kind of normal."

BlazBlue

2 weeks 6 days ago

"I agree with the last post, BlazBlue is way simpler than Guilty Gear. A lot of my friends who like Guilty Gear's visuals but also got too frustrated by its very complicated gameplay found themselves more comfortable playing BlazBlue.

This doesn't mean BlazBlue lacks depth. Game can become very fun but also too hard at high level play, with all the crazy stuff you can do with the characters.

If someone here wants to have some matches on PSN, my ID is KagaminKyousuke. I'm a regular Rachel - Ragna player, so don't expect anything too pro or something like that xD

I definitely need an arcade stick to play this, though. I always feel like I don't have full control over my characters with a digital pad."

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2

"Quick question to anyone that has it:

Does Sigma 2 have all the camera issues from the original NG2 corrected? Because I do remember some parts where the camera acts like crazy and moves in strange angles that don't let you play properly (specially when you fight that fire dinosaur-like thing... ugh).

Being a Ninja Gaiden fan, I want to buy this, though this buy will have to wait for now. I hope game is a hard as the original NG for XBox and not the joke NG Sigma was."

PSP or Nintendo DS???

Who don't love to play Final Fantasy 7 on handheld? :P

I don't, because I have better games to play on a PSP :D

I need to get some PS1 to use them on my PSP :( Would be awesome to get Crash ones, I still like them.

Quick question: do PS1 games look better on PSP? With anti-alias filter and all that, or they look the same? "

Has the Wii ruined gaming as we know it or revolutionized it?

3 months 1 week ago

"The Wii would be better if the platform had more REAL games.

Probably the Wii defenders won't agree with me (and they will be wrong :D) but the problem with that platform is that 90% of the games released on it are:

-Games like the Babiez, Petz and that kind of virtual mascot simulators.
-Useless software like those cooking games.
-Half-assed PS2 or GCN ports with mediocre wiimote controls. Fortunately, in this case you can also use the GCN controller or the classic controller.
-Absolute garbage that, surprisingly, sells, like Wiimusic.

And also we have another problem: a lot of really serious games for the platform (see: Madworld, an awesome game) don't sell at all. I don't want to imagine how games like The Conduit or Tatsunoko vs Capcom will do in occidental lands, sales wise (domestic version of Tatsunoko vs Capcom was a complete failure in Japan)."

Will the PS3 die???

3 months 1 week ago

"Of course it would hurt. Would you pay 100 more dollars if backwards compatibility is back again? That's why that function was removed from more recent PS3 models.

Though I heard there may be a firmware update that will implement backwards compatibility by emulating the PS2 software, but nothing has been confirmed so far.

In any case, if such thing doesn't happen I wouldn't mind. I already have my (big) PS2 and it still works perfectly."

I want more lucky star!!!!

"It would be awesome if KyoAni animates Kagamin Bocchi xD

You know... that fanmade story of Kagami and Konata becoming lovers. I did really think it was cute, though too emo at times.

I also miss Lucky Star a lot. I need to buy the rest of the DVDs, so far I only have the first 2 vols."

New InuYasha Series announced.

3 months 1 week ago

"Can someone please tell me if those last manga vols. finally break up with the typical Inu Yasha plotline? (you know... Naraku reviving like if he just woke up from a hangover). Things like that totally drove me away from the original animation, and it's a shame because I used to like it a lot.

... oh well, I'd still give it a chance. More Miroku and more Sango will always be welcome for me."

Will the PS3 die???

3 months 1 week ago

"Sony should really shut up and starting boosting up their exclusive games (with other things than retarded viral hype), as well as supporting the developers to make better games.

If I remember correctly, back in the day a lot of developers were complaining a lot because the support from Sony was... null, and the really complex PS3 programming didn't help in changing their opinion. In top of that, the development kits they received were all in japanese, no guidelines or anything in english.

PS3 may do decent, however I don't think it will be the leading console of this generation. It doesn't matter how many exclusives it has, as long as it's expensive and with such a low market penetration, it will always be outstanded by Microsoft's console.

And before someone complains, I do have a PS3 and I enjoy it a lot. I must admit, though, that I bought it just because of the quality aspect. If X360 didn't have the red rings of death, I would have chosen that console instead."

New Super Mario Game for Wii

3 months 1 week ago

"Super Mario Galaxy rocked. Lotsa people don't appreciate it just because it has Mario on it, but it's the best platform game to date.

New Super Mario for Wii may be a very awesome idea, though I hope you can play the game without having to play it with other 3 dudes. That would be frustrating, but I don't think Nintendo will do that, considering that the "forced multiplayer" games they've developed weren't as succesfull as they thought (like those Zelda 4 Sword games)."

PSP or Nintendo DS???

3 months 1 week ago

"Because I don't like to choose, I finally decided to get a DS too.

Now I have both handhelds and I can enjoy them equally, though I still haven't got any games for the DS. I am seriously planning to get Pokemon Platinum, Contra 4, Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow and Elite Beat Agents.

I will still use my PSP a lot, specially since I already have 18 games (and I still need to beat most of them lol xD).

So yeah, having both platforms is the best alternative IMO."

5 months 4 days ago

"Very terrible idea. How should I start?

1.- Yeah, I'll join the "no physical media" complain. Simply pointless, and it's a big "screw you" to the old userbase that has already bought a lot of UMD games for the PSP.

2.- Horrible design. Original button layout wasn't that awesome but at least it was functional most of the times... but that thing doesn't make me feel like I'd be able to play properly.

3.- Oh, come on! A smaller screen? A lot of people liked the first PSP models because the display was bigger than any other handheld's ever released before. Why would I want a smaller screen that will make things more difficult for me to appreciate the graphical details of the PSP games?

I'm gonna keep my awesome fat PSP."

Blazblue - Calamity Trigger

"So far, only thing ArcSys has said about more chars and stuff is that they were gonna offer some downloadable content after the game is officially released in consoles. No one knows what it will be, though.

And anyway, the game has a decent amount of characters (12, including the 2 bosses), and since these games always feature a very high learning curve, I don't really mind if game features so few characters."

When will he announce a brand new franchise?"

Blazblue - Calamity Trigger

"Shadow:

No, no, sorry but the title to smoothest animation to date still belongs to Street Fighter 3, KOF XII animation is maybe on par with Last Blade 2's amount of frames per character, though the high resolution sprites gives it extra points. BlazBlue's animation is nice (better than old school KOF's and WAY better than Guilty Gear's, Hokuto No Ken's or other 2D game previously developed by Arcsys Works) and IMO I prefer how sprites look more in BlazBlue, they look way cleaner.

I heard the console version of XII will feature more characters. So far, Elisabeth and Mature are confirmed, and I wouldn't be surprised to see K' and Mai in it too.

It's not like I'm aiming to become top 1 of the world or something , I just want to have fun w/o paying that much.

lol K. I personally can't stand to play a fighting game without feeling like I'm not having 100% control over my character. I always feel like that when playing KOF98UM on PS2, and seeing that Dual Shock 2 isn't as precise or responsive as the average stick I use when I play it on arcades :s"

Sure , performing a certain pattern of combo might be hard on a pad but it's not impossible.
A pad player can still own players using an arcade stick.

Yeah, right, say that to a top japanese player or an Evolution competitor, and you'll probably get only laughs.

I would really like to see a pad player trying to do MvC2's really broken and hard to execute stuff... and do it flawlessly and repeatedly. I think the only MvC2 top player in the entire world that uses a digital pad is a dude from Brazil, and he barely did it to quarters in Evolution.

Heck, say that to a mexican KOF player (KOF is like Mexico's strongest fighting game). A lot of stuff like Daimon's basic FP, df+FP and hcb,f+P combo can be executed with little effort using a stick. With a pad it's a stupid nightmare, and it's definitely not worth the effort.

As for KOF 12 , again I haven't played it so correct me if I'm wrong.
From what I've seen of some of the KOF utube videos , I could tell most of the things are the same.

You're wrong. Check Gametrailers' HD videos of KOF XII. Youtube's stuff has a lot of quality loss, you can't appreciate the graphics there.

KOFXII doesn't only feature bigger sprites, but also a smoother animation and heavier graphical effects. Ash' new green fire bubble would be impossible to do in a PS2."

King of Fighters XII

5 months 1 week ago

"SNK really took quite a bit to evolve, graphics wise. In my opinion, they're too late in the high definition party, since other developers have been working with high res. sprites way before them (Arcsystem Works, the guys behind Arcana Heart, etc.). Also, why did they have to waste their efforts in another KOF? That franchise is too worn out, they could have done something better like a Garou 2, a Last Blade 3 or even a new game series, but oh well, I keep forgetting SNK nowadays lacks the creativity it used to have back in the 90s.

KOF XII looks fine in my opinion, though I've heard a lot of really hard critics against the game, most of them related to the gameplay and aesthetics:

-People likes mashing the critical counter button a lot.
-Characters have no close attacks.
-No final boss.
-Arcade mode is just a lame time trial-like thing.
-Small roster... and not a lot of variety either.
-Critical Counter still needs a lot of work."

"KOF XII's graphical style is way too heavy for a PS2 to handle. You should see the game in full resolution and you'll quickly see such thing wouldn't be possible on a 128 bit console.

Meh. A poor workman blames his tools. I find the Dualshock/2/3 dpad to be capable enough for precise input.

They're fine if you play just for fun. But I would really like to see you trying to do really complicated stuff with a pad on games like Marvel vs Capcom 2 (Magneto's loops are WAY easier on a stick), any of the Guilty Gear games (Impossible Dusts and a lot of buffering is way more possible on a stick) or Virtua Fighter (any expert player will tell you playing with a pad = for scrubs).

I do play with a pad, however there are a lot of things that are too hard to execute (unless you use macros or any crap like that). Such things don't happen with sticks.

Dual Shock 3 is a clear proof that Playstation's controllers' digital pads become worse and worse as time passes by. DS1 was nice, DS2 is a total mess and DS3... gawd, no (playing King of Fighter 98 UM with it is frustrating).

Also, you're wrong. First, it's Sega now, not Sammy. Second, ArcSys can still release Guilty Gear games, as long as they're not related to the X, XX and etc. chapters. Why do you think they could release Guilty Gear 2 Overture? They still hold the rights for the chars and stuff before they released the Guilty Gear games on Naomi and Atomiswave hardware."

"Just as a cultural note, both digital pads (Xbox 360 and Playstation 3) are horrible and people who wants to play this game seriously should get an arcade stick.

Do you feel guilty and remorse when you download anime and song

5 months 2 weeks ago

"Since a lot of anime series aren't even licensed here in Mexico (and overall Latin America), I can't say I'm hurting the creators or the studios, since I have small chances to get the original DVDs. Also, some series I like (like the Da Capo series) aren't even licensed even outside Japan, so... what industry would I harm? Importing R2 DVDs is a no no for me, specially because they're too expensive and they offer very little content.

If there's stuff released officially here and I have the possibilities to buy, I do it definitely."

Final Fantasy XIII

"
Square Enix does a great job, most of their games have great graphics and interesting stories.

A real shame most of the games they release have very tedious gameplay, which ruins the experience, except for the REALLY hardcore RPG fanboys. I dare to say that the good games from S-E are from the Enix side (Dragon Warrior 8, anything made by Tri Ace and etc).

Final Fantasy 13 doesn't really appear in my radar. 12 was awesome and like the best game of the series since 6 and Tactics but apparently people didn't like it because it wasn't menu-passive based unlike the rest and also because game wasn't straight-forward . But at least I will get a chance to try 13 because it'll be available on Xbox 360 and I may go to a friend's to see how it is.

Ouch... losing Final Fantasy 13 surely was a low blow to Sony and their Playstation 3."
