After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

Do you think they're remaking FF7 for PS3?

2 years 5 months ago

"
DigimonQQ

Yeah, I think so. FF7 is the best Final Fantasy after all.

Most overrated and hyped Final Fantasy ever. It lacks a lot of things to be considered the best.

And Square will surely make this, considering that they openly admitted they were gonna focus more on remakes and that kind of stuff for this generation of consoles.

If you can get more milk from the cow, why not taking advantage of it? I'm pretty sure a lot of Final Fantasy 7 fanboys would be buying a Playstation 3, just to play the same (boring, cliched and with a lame main character) story once again.

My opinion."

Metroid

2 years 5 months ago

"As a hardcore fan of Metroid, I must say that my most favorite title of the series (and one of my most favorite games of all times) is Super Metroid. It has everything:

-A balanced gameplay, so not that experienced players can beat it without problems, even if they don't find all the items. Of course, the most necessary items are easily obtainable.

-A lot of moves that add a lot of gameplay. The triangle jump, the bombs technique, the Speed Buster, even the grappling beam.

-A giant world to explore, and even though it has some known zones (Brinstar, Norfair, Tourian), they're extremely changed (even though you can still see some locations from Metroid 1, like the Mother Brain lair), plus new zones like Maridia and that strange wrecked ship thing. Most of the secret zones weren't that obvious to find, like that small way that leaded you to an energy tank, at the beginning of Crateria.

-An extraordinaire soundtrack. Probably the Metroid with the biggest variety of songs ever. I was surprised when I noticed a lot of the tracks from the game weren't based from the original Metroid or Metroid 2 (except for the main title theme).

-The most impressive visuals the Super Nintendo is able to achieve (along with Final Fantasy 6), filled with a variety of graphical enviroments and effects. The battles with the bosses are a proof of it.

-Talking about the bosses... yeah, some of the most imporessive and thought battles you can encounter in a Super Nintendo game.

I'll try to write something about the other Metroid titles in a near future."

Game franchises that need to die... and why?

2 years 5 months ago

"Capcom needs to stop the wha...?

It's been years since Capcom haven't developed a new Street Fighter game, I ignore what you're talking about :o

In fact... it's been a long time since they developed one single traditional fighting game (and Capcom Fighting Evolution doesn't count, because it was made by a totally new development team... and game overall sucked) since Capcom vs SNK 2."

Game franchises that need to die... and why?

2 years 5 months ago

"-Final Fantasy series. Honestly, this series haven't known what evolution is (and no, don't come to me with the "but each game is different", because they keep exactly the same basics that got totally worn out some time ago) and every time it seems like Square wants this franchise to look even gayer with each new game.

-Metal Gear Solid. Come on, Konami, let poor Hideo Kojima make OTHER games. If I remember correctly, Kojima himself stated that he wanted to work on something new, but the pressure from Konami and the fans haven't let him do that. Also... more than 10 games based on practically the same scheme of Snake against a damned armed tank? (Metal Gear, Solid Snake, Snake's Revenge, Solid, Babel Ghost, Integral / VR Missions, Solid 2, Acid, Solid 3, Acid 2, Portable Ops and Solid 4... heck, there's even this visual novel for PSP)."

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

"Sonic would use the Homming Attack, the blue tornado (from Sonic Heroes), the rolling dash and that strange roll from Sonic Adventure 2.

He has potential to become a Smash Brothers characters. It's just a matter of time if Sonic Team asks Nintendo to include Sonic in Brawl too... and well, also a matter of luck. Considering that the olympics games Sega and Nintendo are gonna make together (featuring Sonic and Mario as main characters) will be the "first game where Mario and Sonic will face each other"..."

Michael Jackson.

2 years 5 months ago

"I usually judge an artist like Michael Jackson because of his musical material, not because of his personal life and all the scandals he's been involved (since those, compared to his talent, are totally unrelated details).

His other latest album, Invincible, wasn't as great as his previous work... but how curious, even with such detail, it sold more than stuff from other pop groups and / or artists in that moment (N'Sync, Britney Spears, Shakira, even Madonna), so he actually did something good with it. And the album is overall good... not excellent or superb as Michael Jackson's material used to be, but it's good, and definitely it was superior to most recent pop albums.

If he can manage to compose some good songs, then I'll give his new disc a try."

Long Distance Relationships

2 years 5 months ago

"If there's love, distance doesn't really matter.

But also, sometimes when you love someone, you also know the best thing would be to let that person go and make something new in a new place. I learned that with my first girlfriend. When she moved, we decided to break out our relationship, because the distance between us was enormous (+12 hours driving), we were gonna be busy with college and it overall would be a pain to not be together. In the end, it was the correct decision.

Even though I now have something kinda... special with someone who also lives too far away from me (in few words: a totally different country, though it's not very far), and so far my feelings for that person haven't changed at all ^^ And that person has been very wonderful with me.

It all depends on how you feel about that person, really."

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Is Super Smash Brothers really going to have Solid Snake O.O? Since when did Snake become a Nintendo franchise @~1@?

Nintendo stated some time ago that some 3rd party characters would make it to Smash Brawl as playable characters, and Snake was the first of these characters. The conditions for such characters to appear in Smash are:

-The character must have appeared in a Nintendo system (Snake appeared in Metal Gear and Metal Gear Snake's Revenge for NES, as well as Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes for Gamecube).
-The character must come from a relevant franchise for the Nintendo systems (and yes, Metal Gear is relevant).
-The creator of the character asks Nintendo and Hal directly so his / her character may be included into the game (Hideo Kojima asked Miyamoto and Sakurai to include Snake in the game roster)."

"If you checked the last update from that strange blog, they finally announced something important:

You'll be able to play Smash with 4 different control schemes (including the classic controllers and the gamecube controller), so everyone will be able to get a hang on the game in several ways.

I think I'll choose the classical controller option. Never got used to play Melee completely with Gamecube controller, and the Wiimote and Wiimote + Nunchuk schemes seem too weird for me."

Instrumental or Lyrical?

2 years 5 months ago

"In some way, some genres do really need the lyrics.

Just take a look at the tracks of really good artists like Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson, Abba (yeah, shoot me, I like to listen to Abba), The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, etc. Most of their tracks wouldn't have had any impact without the lyrics provided by the singer.

Can someone imagine Michael Jackson's Billie Jean, Black or White, Thriller, Beat It or etc. without their really awesome lyrics? Let me tell you not all the pop artists tend to sing about love or stuff. In fact, Michael's Stranger in Moscow is a song that, while not as known as any other of his most famous tracks, tries to say the opinion of someone about the political / social / economic situation of a country.

I'll explain later why there are also other genres that can supress the lyrics and still sound great."

Linkin Park

"Nu Metal died for me after KoRn released their Issues album (one of my favorites of all times).

Unfortunately, I listened to Linkin Park, expecting something at least half as good as KoRn or even Limp Bizkit (when they were still a good and respectable band) but I was totally dissapointed. Their music sounds too loud-ish to me, they definitely lack the punch of those aftermentioned groups when trying to mix metal with rap like rythm... and their (really teen angsty, depressing and sometimes annoying) lyrics don't really help in improving the opinion I have about them.

Maybe I was expecting too much."

Konami says that 360 is limited in processing power

2 years 5 months ago

"Well, we're talking about XBox 360 and Playstation 3 here.

I would sound retard if I say the XBox 1 had more support than the Playstation 2 because that's bull crap... but so far, the tendency has inverted totally. Just look at how many supposedly "exclusive" Playstation 3 games were announced to be released for XBox 360 too:

-Virtua Fighter 5 (and AM2 of Cri already stated the 360 version will look graphically better).
-Devil May Cry 4 (and I still remember some guys saying that the main guy's arm was only possible to do in Playstation 3).
-Grand Theft Auto 4 (ouch, the worst of them all, specially because this franchise is a total console seller in America... and add the fact that the 360 version will have exclusive content).
-Etc.

And it seems that Silent Hill 5 will follow the same way."

Too bad, no updates tomorrow. Guess we'll have to wait until monday arrives :( Hopefully, they'll update with Snake's moves... and yes, this would be an even MORE interesting entry that even Pit's. Can't imagine how Snake's Final Smash would be:

-A Metal Gear Rex appearing on screen, launching missiles and that strange beam.
-Lotsa Metal Gear Rays appearing on the platform, stomping everyone.
-Liquid's chopter shooting randomly while Liquid is laughing out loud."

Those who wait for manga

2 years 6 months ago

"Unfortunately, my very favorite manga title (Ai Yori Aoshi) gets the most horrible delays between each volume, and the waiting is extremely painful... and considering that I must wait until my local comic store imports it, the situation gets way worse :/

Same thing for other titles by small publishers... like the Tsukihime manga. It's been months and I haven't seen new volumes at Previews and stuff."

Buying manga

2 years 6 months ago

"It depends strongly if my comic store has more than 1 title that I was expecting or I find highly interesting.

Usually, I only buy one manga per visit to the comic store... but if I see more than 1 good release in the month, I can buy until 5 books in a row. But since the mangas that are in my interest don't get released at the same time (xxxHolic, Ai Yori Aoshi, Fruits Basket, some of the Shonen Jump titles), it's very strange for me to buy more than 1 title."

Recycled characters?

2 years 6 months ago

"Guys, guys, guys...

Why hasn't anyone here mentioned CLAMP? Seriously, lately they've been recycling their character designs so much it's not even funny :( It's kinda sad, because they used to be more versatile in the past (and... well, this reason is the thing that made me hate Tsubasa Chronicles so much).

And well, this thing happens a lot, specially when we talk about the same studio or artist. See the case of Kyoto Animation, in example. I was laughing hard when I watched Kanon 2006 and Lucky Star (I watched Haruhi previously), and noticed both shows had 2 characters with enormous resemblance with Asahina Mikuru: Ayu from Kanon and Miyuki from Lucky Star (If I remember correctly, someone here in this site even edited a pic of Miyuki and she looked identical to Mikuru).

It's perfectly normal, unless they start abusing of this resource and make the series visually boring and totally unoriginal (once again, CLAMP being the perfect example nowadays)."

[Anime Chat] Lucky Star

"I don't know if someone already stated this before, but Lucky Star changed its director since episode 5 (Haruhi director was removed, and the Full Metal Panic Fumoffu director took his place :O ).

And for some reason, even though I liked the first 4 episodes, I consider that this change affected the series in a good way because it became even more dynamic (not as static and passive as the first episodes), with even more references and the characters feel like they're more expressive and hilarious (Kagami being the most noticeable char in this aspect). And yes, the very pinnacle (so far) of this change was the:

And for some reason, I'm starting to like Minoru in Lucky Channel more than Akira. He's practically the one who's making me laugh now (specially with his "OHA LUCKY!")."

Do you Like Robotech

2 years 6 months ago

"Macross bored the heck out of me. Reason? Simply because it focused a lot in a very ridiculous love triangle between Rick, Minmay and Lisa (forgot their japanese names... and to be honest, I don't care :D )... the kind of ridiculous and childish romance from a random soap opera. Sorry, but that ruined it for me.

Of course, when I watched Robotech I didn't know Macross existed, and I enjoyed it greatly because it focused more on battles, action and other kind of interaction (including conflicts between human themselves, in a more realistic and non-ridiculous way). Also, it included a lot of things which make it superior in my opinion:

-A better musical score.
-Longer.
-The romance between Rick and the 2 girls is more realistic.
-The overall concept was redone under a more occidental point of view, and so it's more appealing to the public in general (believe me, if they used the japanese point of view from Macross, a lot of people wouldn't have cared about this).
-Voice talents like Cam Clarke (my favorite U.S. voice actor of all times).

I will always prefer Robotech, and I'll try to buy the new movie in some days ^^"

Konami says that 360 is limited in processing power

2 years 6 months ago

"There's a big difference between the Playstation 2 / Gamecube case and the XBox 360 / Playsation 3 case.

In the first one, the technological differences were bigger and it was shown a lot of times that the Gamecube was a way powerful hardware than the Playstation 2. While I admit that Resident Evil 4 for the Gamecube is a WAY superior version of it, the Playstation 2 port was acceptable and it looked fairly good, considering the hardware limitations (of course, if you compare both versions using a high definition screen, the differences were more noticeable, being the Playsation 2 version the... ugliest version).

The second case isn't that drastic, since developers have said a lot of times that both consoles have very similar capabilities... difference is, it's easier to develop stuff in the Microsoft console. And it's understandable: if you can get good results (in terms of graphics, gameplay and etc.) in a console that's easier to program and you will spend less money making it, why would you bother in trying another platform (in this case, Playstation 3) with a WAY less friendly development process? Why would you only stick with a console that will seem to have less games than its competitor because of its development issues, when you can also release your game in that other platform which has a bigger base of consoles sold (and still increasing)?

That's why I mentioned the Resident Evil 4 case. The game was overall better on Gamecube, but the Playstation 2 version sold more."

Ken Kutaragi steps down :/

"Hey, people now take a look at this:

http://www.gamepro.com/news.cfm?article_id=112808

Oh, my god. Seriously, what's the problem with Sony? Instead of admitting their own mistakes about the poor Playstation 3 planning, marketing and support from 3rd Parties, now they're coming with stupid and totally absurd pretexts like "oh my, it's not our fault that the Playstation 3 doesn't sell. It's the fault of the internets".

Yeah, right, now all the world will bash 4chan, GameFAQs, Gamespot and all internet gaming forums for provoking the Playstation 3's low sales all around the world.

The internet also existed (and was already vastly used all around the planet) when the Playstation 2 existed, and that didn't stop that console from being successful."

Not that he says it's a piece of shit, just that MGS4 takes advantage of the PS3. Sort of like how the rain effects of MGS2 did not work for Xbox 1 and because Konami didn't want to rewrite the code, that part in the Xbox had TONS of slowdown.

Erh... the european version of Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance for XBox has no slowmotion anymore. That issue only appeared in the american version of it. It had nothing to do with the capabilities of the console.

And MGS4 wise... bleh, the poor franchise has worn out and now it feels old and over-used. I wouldn't be excited about it.

Also, we should also remember when other games would be exclusive because "they take full advantage of the console's hardware"... and months later, it was ported (see: Resident Evil 4)."
