After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

We're all going to die tomorrow.

"Yes, there is a infinitesimally small chance that the Large Hadron Collider could create microscopic black holes, but even if, not ones remotely capable of engulfing the earth. I'd like to point out that these black holes that are supposedly going to be created would be the size of protons, and please keep in mind that the proton is smaller than an atom, which is smaller than a molecule, which is even smaller than one of the fifty trillion cells that make up the average human body. These black holes would be so infinitesimally tiny that Hawking radiation would cause them to evaporate almost instantly; thus, making them absolutely harmless.

Honestly, if you are sincerely afraid of the notion of the LHC destroying life as we know it on our planet, I'm honestly surprised that other aspects and theories of our universe don't worry you more. Yes, our world is going to end eventually; if our sun expanding into a red giant doesn't engulf our solar system first, the super-massive black hole at the center of our galaxy will eat us up in millions of millennia to come.

I truthfully find it hard to believe that the end of our world is going to be based on a human creation; this is more of a personal opinion, but: if nature made us, it's also going to reserve the right to destroy us. We might like to screw around with our resources and our environment all that we would like, but even with global warming, pollution, and everything else, I really believe that what will ultimately kill us will be nature.

On the topic of the Large Hadron Collider itself, I recently heard that the were able to make particles accelerate up to the speed of light itself around the entire seventeen mile radius, which I find absolutely mind-blowing. All of you who are more caught up on the negative consequences of activating the LHC, you should realize that worrying about the extinction of our world only causes unnecessary anxiety and that the chances of positive results from these experiments are infinitely greater and might very well be able to enhance our knowledge on the topic of antimatter and even possible alter our basic, fundamental knowledge of the universe.

Oh, and LenasLover ~

I don't understand how it is that the only person who believes in the possibility of the end of our world due to the LHC, you praise, while you accuse the rest of us of speaking with no knowledge on the subject at all. Yes - because that is the reason some of us have linked information related to the LHC and referenced the information that we have heard on the subject from relatively credible sources - more credible, at least, than the simple fears of an extremely small chance of the LHC causing the "destruction of life" - as you put it.

As for not being to detect sarcasm, the initial comment you left honestly had not the smallest implication of sarcasm, and even so, if you are going to criticize us for not being able to pick up on satire, perhaps you should relook some of the things we wrote about maxing out credit cards and looking for mole people and recognize that that was sarcasm as well. : )

No need to hold a grudge, dear ; )

I also found an approximate five minute rap video that sums up what the LHC does in a surprisingly accurate song : D For those of you who would like a fun and quarky sum up of the LHC: here x DDD For the rest of you, laughs and giggles : 333 x 3"

"Ehem. Some of us should take our own advice. : ]

As Crim kindly pointed out, Sarcasm is a bit more difficult to detect through text, although I think we all took notice that your topic name was meant to be of jest. : ) Relax ~ but you should keep in mind that if all three of us were unable to detect Sarcasm as easily through your actual kick-off post, many others on the forum might also react the same way. o.o

The only reason I took the pleasure of posting a link and the comment that I did is simply because I am also trying, like csquared2, to avoid "unneeded and harmful panic".

No harm done. : )

- edit -

csquared2 pointed out most of the points that I would have made in a more substantiated first post : ) but I'm glad that someone else said it first and saved me the trouble x ]

Oh, and I actually feel the same way you do ~ : o I think that the LHC is going to be an astounding contribution to our human knowledge of physics.

This is mentioned in the Wikipedia article on the Large Hadron Collider, but all relative forces known in the universe can attract and repel one another; the only exception to this is gravity, which has caused much conundrum in the physic world. Through the LHC, colliding the smallest of particles with one another, scientists hope to find even smaller particles in our universe - and hopefully, find the secret to why gravity can only attract and not repel."

"Before you start freaking out random preteenagers in the community, read this before any of you start panicking that we're going to implode in the universe's first and last manmade black hole:

We're not going to die u_u;;"
