After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

Final Fantasy 12

3 years 3 weeks ago

"Just got my version today: the battle system is a lot like the battle system in "Summoner" (it's a fairly old PS2 RPG), which I liked a lot so I am quite happy with it. Not too unnesserally confusing but still fun. The animation and the world look gorgeous, and there are quite a few long CG segments, which is always nice. In other words so far I am not dissapointed, but I can see why the people who liked the old battle system would find this one annoying."

The most unpredictable anime's ending you've ever seen

3 years 2 months ago

" Kanon for one: I really didn't expect Ayu to have been a ghost, and then after she disapeared I really didn't think she'd come back. I was actually kind of chearing for Nayuki. I suppose there isn't all that much hope that the new remake will have a different ending, is there?

Yeah and Air, I spend the entire last three episodes expecting something good to happen ... and it never did! The most depressing anime I've ever seen."

Do you wish for something you can't afford?

3 years 2 months ago

"I'd love a PS3, but considering how little time I have for gaming, I am in no hurry to get, so I can wait until it falls nicely into my afordability range. I can be a very patient person when it comes to money and not being able to afford stuff which comes in handy. A new more powerful laptop wouldn't hurt much either, but well ... I can dream ..."

contacts or glasses??

3 years 2 months ago

"I get freaked out when things get too closed to my eyes. I've never tried wearing contacts and I am terrified to. But since my vision isn't all that bad it's not much of a problem. Besides when you are wearing glasses people are more likely to think you are smart, hehe!"

HOW MANY EPISODES DOES AN ANIME HAS TO HAVE?

3 years 2 months ago

"The length depends on how much of a story there is to tell. Personally I probably enjoy the 24-26 episodes serieses best since that gives the story enough time to develop the characters as well as throw in some twists and turns (ala Mai Hime, Tsukuyomi Moon Phase, Sousei no Aquarion), but with good story telling it can be done just as well in 12-14 episodes (ala Tsukihime, Full Metal Panic: TSR, Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi).

It doesn't mean that when a series goes over 26 episodes it gets bad, but I generally came to the conclusion lately that I just don't want to watch anything that has more than 50 episodes, because at this point it is really hard for the story not to repeat itself (think Naruto and Bleach)."

[News] Neon Genesis Evangelion's REMAKE

3 years 2 months ago

"I guess I am not a dedicated EVA fan, cause with every new addition to the series I get more annoyed. I am one of the very few people who liked the ending to the original TV series and the End of EVA pissed me off royaly (there is something just not right with Shinji and Asuka as the planet's last living humans). So I for one am not too happy about the new movies. The sad part though is that I will probably end up watching it anyway and cursing it as I go along!

But to be fair: there are still ways for them to make the remake interesting, I just wish they'd leave it alone and do something new."

How do you find inspiration for your wallpapers ?

"Usually I get ideas from scans. When I see a pretty one that I'd want to do something with I start thinking if I could do something interesting with it. Or sometimes scans give me ideas of their own. "

Has an anime ever made you cry?

3 years 3 months ago

"If the story is good and actually touching and sad I will cry.

I cried in Full Metal Alchemist
SPOILER (click to view)

Air made me cry somewhat, but I kind of hate that series for it, because it was just made to make people cry when they watch it. I hate stories that just force you to cry.

The Soukuyu no Fafner OVA has me to tear up even when I just watch small bits of it.

Chrno Crusade ending also made me cry. Even though I knew how it was going to end before I watched it.

What's up with 'bad-art-day' in anime?

3 years 3 months ago

"I've started paying more attention to these weird day off episodes lately too. I suppose every one has a bad day and supposedly this stuff usually gets corrected for DVD releases. I do however object to having bad animation for important plot episodes. It's fine by me if it's a filler, but for it could actually be very distracting in an important episode. Most studios know not to do that ...

... except for GONZO ... but that's a whole other can of worms!"

Do you agree with this quote?

3 years 4 months ago

"That's an interesting question. Let's see, if you look at it from the way of a victim:
"Death of one or two persons is a tragedy,
but death of millions is but a mere statistic."
I have to say that I very much agree with that statement. Every time they say on tv that such and such journalist was killed in the war zone they will do a whole report on the person's life and have an interview with the crying family etc. That is just physically impossible to show in a report about a hundreds of deaths. It is impossible to show the suffering of every single family that lost a loved one. In this case a single victim's story becomes lost and all the audience gets is a statistic of how many people died. And that caries so little emotional attachment.

As for the murder side of the question, I'd say it would depend on the situation. I think death on a battlefield is very different from a simple murder. It isn't as much about taking a human's life as it is about saving one's own life. Though of course causing a death is the same thing one way or another."

How do you convince someone...

3 years 4 months ago

"You grab them, strap them to the chair and then make them watch it. Or not ... What I'd do is to give them a short shpeel on what goes on and show them a specifically good episode of the series you want them to watch, preferably something that doesn't need too much explaining. Or you can always grab them and make them watch something, it actually sort of worked with my cousin, though I did it mostly for the purpose of getting him to shut up."

Do you find it hard to watch only 1 anime series at a time?

3 years 4 months ago

"I guess it would be strange to watch only one thing at a time especially if it's the show where you get an episode a week. I have a lot of shows that I'd start watching when the series is half done, marathon through and then wait for some time until the rest of the series is out and then marathon through those. So yeah, one show at a time doesn't work with that."

Will you watch, if your favorite anime become a real film? Why yes or Why No?

3 years 7 months ago

"That's an interesting question. I've started noticing lately that the cinematic styles of anime and real films is very different. Because of the difference in the medium anime is able to have quite a few very interesting shots that life-action films just simply can't pull of, since they are burdened with the presence of an actual camera. As a result I think if an anime was to be remade into a life-action movie it would be completely different and give off a completely different feel. I am not sure it that's necesseraly a bad thing, but I would definetly have a hard time comparing the two things. Though I will admit that I would watch it out of curiosity if nothing else. "

Reading books...why do so many people hate it? Do you?

3 years 7 months ago

"I am an English major at a university so I have to read quite a bit. I like reading a lot, and I have always done a lot of it. I started reading for fun less in the last year mostly because I have to read so much for school that when it comes time for me to do what I want, I just get too burned out for reading. But I do still intend to read all those fun books that I have gathered on my shelf one day ... maybe when I graduate ..."

Do you BUY or DOWNLOAD your manga?

3 years 7 months ago

"I mostly buy my manga, but there are some serieses that I download online. One of the rules I have that with very very few exceptions I will never buy a serieses that has no end in sight. Like Bleach for example, I love the manga, but it's at volume 20 something at this point and probably won't end for a long time. As a result I refuse to buy it until it ends, and I know exactly how big a material commitment I am going to be dealing with. But other than that I buy pretty much all of my favorite manga serieses."

Mech anime

3 years 7 months ago

"
ShiNN

I strongly disagree. Shoji Kawamori has always clearly stated that Aquarion is a PARODY of the typical mecha-shows. Taking Aquarion seriously is probably the biggest mistake a viewer could do.

Absolutly agree. I had so much fun watching Aquarion, granted it's like a guilty pleasure, but still. It is one of the few serieses that is not afrais to make complete idiots of themselves the entire way; and then at the end it suddenly pulls off an amazing story. I mean come on: it's a mecha series that would not be insulted by a phrase "another EVA rip off!"

Other things I can recomend:
Soukuu no Fafner: Yes, yes, EVA-Rahxephon hybrid clone, but I enjoyed it greatly. The characters are well developed and their relationships are quite interesting. And it's a EVA-RX clone that is not afraid of killing characters off, which always gets a plus in my book. There is a bit of predictability to it at first, but I will say that I didn't actually expect what happened in the end. But be aware if you watch the OVA: it's the single most depressing thing I've seen (well maybe except AIR).

Eureka Seven: A very unexpected series I think because it doesn't seem to resemble any other Mecha series I've seen. Crazy colors, weird characters ... mechas are on board? Eh? But the story is very good, slow at times but good. Granted it's not as action centered a series as some of the others, so be wary.

Full Metal Panic/FMP: The Second Raid: Here I am a tid bit biased, cause I loved Fumoffu, which is a comedy and when I watched the two action serieses I went in with a bias of the fact that I already liked the characters a lot, but overall FMP is good as an action series as well. The second raid is a better series both as far as animation quality and plot is concerned in my opinion, but it is shorter. "

Animes that make you feel good

3 years 7 months ago

"Hmm, that's a fun question. I used to have a system of getting myself to do stuff I didn't want, and in exchange when I was done I was allowed to watch the stuff that made me feel good (I am a tid bit strange). It used to be Bleach back in the days when I was hooked on it. Hmm, since then it has been Mai Hime (I have to watch it all the way through though cause if I stop before the end I get depressed), Soukuu no Fafner (also preferably watched whole way through to the end), Final Fantasy AC (not anime, but close enough) and Witch Hunter Robin lately."

WTF Fillers are not that bad

3 years 8 months ago

"Whether to hate or to love fillers depends on the kind of filler in question. There are some seriese, let's use Cowboy Bebop since most people know it, where most of the series is made up of filler-like episodes that don't seem to have all that much influence on their main story line (I mean really, there was only like ten episodes of actual main plot line in the series), but it's still a great series and the fillers are hystirically funny and do a very good job of flushing out characters' personalities. Or look at Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu: the entire thing is one big filler, but it's awesome.
Then there are long serieses, where fillers serve to extend the story (like Naruto and Bleach where they are throwing in so many fillers to let the manga story line get ahead). Now the strength of these episodes depends on the writers. I personally have nothing against some filler episodes where you see the main cast get a rest from all the neverending fighting going on, especially if there is good humor involved. Of course seeing way too much of that gets very annoying. "

What is the best, most recent, action anime?

3 years 8 months ago

"Hmm, recent action serieses ... let's see ...
Fate/Stay Night: when they actually get around to having some actions rather than talk, it has some nice fight scenes, but it's a series that takes a bit of patience.
Bleach: Not as recent but still ongoing. Typical shonen, but really good. And the fight scenes are impressive. It's Bleach! Enough said!
Full Metal Panic Second Rain: Giant robots all the way! Hmm, for an action series though it has a whole lot of drama, but the story is so good!
Black Cat: Ahh, so pretty! I wish all the anime I watch had this much style: odd angles, lots of weird colors, good music. And the story is pretty solid. I'd definetely suggest this one as a good watch.
Eureka seven: A really good series, but I wouldn't necesseraly call it an action series per se. The fight scenes are pretty, but they aren't necesseraly the highlight of the series."

Eureka 7

3 years 8 months ago

"For the lack of hype that Eureka seven gets you'd think it'd be bad, but it's actually one hell of an amazing series. It's a mecha series with teenagers piloting giant robots that doesn't have ANYTHING in common with evangelion (well aside from the teenagers in giant robots part) and that's quite an achievement!

It also has some really funky artwork, colors and music. Which is always a plus. As far as originality is concerned Eureka Seven reaches amazing hights, which for me is pretty important since there are so many generic serieses nowdays.

As for the story: as has been said before it starts out slow, and since I am only on episode 27ish I am not sure exactly how far it's gonna go, but the build up is amazing so far. The characters are both annoying but identifiable with as well, and their development is very natural. Even the characters I hate (*cough*holland*cough*) still make me interested in their story."
