As an animation, Bakemonogatari has a simple, clean art style. But the guest illustrations for the series are anything but simple! So, it's great to see that °Tens took on a more complex illustration and made it his own with vector gradients so fine at points it more resembles painting that vectoring. Do have a look at this beautiful wallpaper!

Wow I missed quite the conversation last night...

For the group thing, I thinked I will wait for the v6 but if a lot of people ask for it, I guess I have no choice but to do it^^ To commemorate the SSS rating, the svg of my bakuman wall is on my last journal entry.Got to go doing teaching. See you later~

~NosVII 22 minutes ago
Ye mouton knows all ;) I am still a newbie with vectoring programs. In my journal is the progess so far for my Inkscape and AI project. The main difference I noticed so far is that in AI the pentool is editable at all times, in IS it is a different tool

Ctrl is useful when you want to control the angle of the vector. Shift is for asymmetric vector. You can combine the two also. One more thing, if you start an other path while pressing shift and that a former path is selected, the two will combined.

~NosVII 35 minutes ago
I only use ctrl for zooming, backspace I knew because it is the same in PS and AI. The shift and enter I didn't know, those are useful. I ended a path using right mouse on my last node

~Mysticmom2 36 minutes ago
It would be a nice group! You should go for it Mouton.

~ala21ddin21 36 minutes ago
Hi, mouton, I think it's time to open the Inkscape group, questions and new users are massively arriving, even for me XD

~Mysticmom2 38 minutes ago
Hey guys!

*moutonzare 42 minutes ago
You have to finish the path to edit it with the node tool. You can finish a path by closing it up or by pressing enter. You can also go back in the path by pressing backspace. I also suggest you to try pressing shift and ctrl while using the Bezier tool^^

Should one upgrade from Vista to Windows 7?

2 months 1 week ago

"
hatesyou
Windows 7's development has been mostly an exercise in restoring Windows' reputation. Vista launched a broken mess and although two service packs later most complaints levelled at Vista by the home user have been addressed, it's reputation has not improved. Microsoft have salvaged the situation by using the core and back end of Vista and to hasten the development of Windows 7.

Minor features aside, Windows 7 is little more than a re-written GUI for the Vista core. Like all iterations of Windows, it will launch broken but most users are unlikely to encounter show stopping issues. Despite claims of improved performance over Vista, the gains are minimal and exaggerated.

I'd have a difficult time justifying the cost and the pain in the butt factor of upgrading a year old laptop from Vista to 7 as retail copies of Windows tend to be expensive and upgrading involves formatting and starting again. Additionally you have a warranty to consider as I'd expect an upgrade of this nature will void it.

If warranty isn't an issue and you can justify (or avoid) the cost and are willing to start fresh, then by all means go for Windows 7. Just don't go expecting massive improvements in performance, reliability and usability.

I figured as much. Just about every site I went to that talked about Windows 7 gave positive reviews on the OS, however they kept on talking about the Beta version of of it all. To my, average ability about computers, it seems far from a finished product.

And your right about my warranty I would have void it if I changed the operating system on the computer. (XD) emoticon I forgot about that.

Viz Media Re-releasing Pokemon Adventures (Special)?

2 months 1 week ago

"I love the Pokemon Adventures or Pokemon Special (what it is known in Asian countries). The plot is much better than the so called boring anime. I can't believe I lost 8 years of my life watching it when I was younger. P(T_T) emoticon

Well anyway, I wanted to buy the whole series from Singapore. Apparently you can buy the whole collection and more on eBay. Some seller from Singapore sell the 30+ volumes of Pokemon Adventures. However, the price for shipping might kill some money hungry folks. (XD) emoticon One seller I have found sell the collection for $199 US dollars, but the shipping to send all that is like $130 -160 dollars depending on the seller your buying from. By the way, the whole series is in english, forgot to mention that.

Now, Viz Media is re-releasing that series from volume one. Don't mistake the Best Adventures of Red or Yellow, because they are just a bunch of stories taken from the Pokemon Adventures loosely put together in some random order. But the real first editions on the series that came out around I'd say 1998 to 2000 are hard to find and very expensive, and they used the mirrored form for the manga (instead right to left it's left to right). But the re-releasing editions of Pokemon Adventures is read from right to left as in the japanese format.

The problem I am facing right now is that, should I wait for Viz to release the comics here or buy from Singapore? Because at this point there is no guarantee that they will print all 30+ volumes when someone in Singapore has translated more versions of pokemon, than here in the United States.

Should one upgrade from Vista to Windows 7?

2 months 1 week ago

"I own a HP Laptop that I bought about a year ago summer 2008. Back than I already new Microsoft was coming out with a OS, but hard to say when back than.

I have a HP Notebook Laptop with 2GB of RAM and, a Intel Centrino Duo Processor with Vista Business, and 160GB of harddrive storage, all for around $575 at Staples, with a 4 year warranty from Staples at about $250. All in all about $800+ bucks I paid for a Vista Business Laptop.

By checking Amazon.com it seems that the features that they show seem very promising, and several sites like PCWorld or Computer Tech have been giving very good reviews, when several of their testers tried out the Beta version of Windows 7. Some are saying that Windows 7 is even better than Mac's new OS Leopard. With an even simpler interface and a even faster start up time than anything before. Why Macs Can't Beat PCs?! From PC World.com

I am very curious about if people have tried the Beta version yet, and what are your experiences if it is worth it buying an upgrade? Or just getting a new computer all together?

Mac vs. PC

Drifting-Ashore
Both actually have positive and negative features. It's pure ignorance to say one is better than the other. This is coming from a former Mac hater.

Drifting-Ashore has point.

Macs have better program durability than a PC, however they are very expensive. They have better power efficiency than PCs do and their design is much cooler. But I own only a laptop PC. I play with Macs at school, even though I have to get used to the controls, by the look of the equipment they have to be very Mac specific. For Mac only. But they do have their downsides.

You have to have special programs that run only on Macs. Most software these days can run on Macs. But most third party software that is free to a PC won't work properly on Macs, unless the author made for both.

Second is the equipment. If you buy a Mac you basically have everything you need if your not a web designer or graphic artist, where in those fields Macs are used mostly. You can not, by my experience, build a Mac yourself you would have to custom order it from Apple. Which doesn't seem bad if you don't know anything about computers and would like the company to make one for you, for your needs or tasks that you would mostly do. But if you want something specific that can't be on a Mac might as well go with PC.

Another thing about Macs is that they are not gaming computers. I found this interesting in the gaming community. PCs are generally used in that area.

Also, Mac OSs are very user friendly. But you can't take apart a Mac and then put a third party chip in it. If you could, your really good with computers.

PCs, I think, are much easier when it comes with building a computer than anything else. You can use a whole range of third party programs, as long as viruses and spyware are not lurking in the code.

Oh, that remind me Macs are not susceptible to viruses. Macs, I think but not sure, run on a 012345 binary code (or whatever you call it) and PCs run on 01010010 binary code where most viruses attacks PC more than Macs. I would think there is still a security program in the Mac, but again I'm not sure on this.

So PCs and Mac do have pros and cons. If you can use both than, I think, your set.

Failing that, the problem will create an entry in the application event log. Grab the content of that entry (event ID, source etc.) and repost if the issue persists.

Grab the content of that entry? I don't know what that is or did I just typed that above?"

Windows Denfender Problem : 0x800106ba

"I need a little help to start Windows Defender. It will not start. A message that says:

null
Appilcation failed to initialize: 0x800106ba. A problem caused this program's service to stop. To start service, restart you computer or search Help and Support for how to start a service manually.

That is what it mainly said. Now I have Vista Business. My first reaction is to restart the computer and when I thought I was in the clear the message it came up again. Instead of going to "Help and Support" I thought going to Microsoft's site would clear it up for me.
Typed in the error message number they sent me to this page:

Here is the link.

Did everything I was suppose to. I could not remove Windows Defender so I skipped to first few steps and went to bottom part if Windows Defender still refuses to initialize. Again a few of the .dll would not initialize.

Then I decided to search through Google to see if anyone had the same problem I had. While researching this I found out in Vista you can not remove the program in Vista. Why is that so? damn WINDOWS DEFENDER IS INTEGRATED IN VISTA!!!

/(>C<)\ emoticon

!!AAAHHH!!

This is the part where I pulled my hair out.

In XP, from other forums that I have visited, you can remove Windows Defender from Remove/Uninstall Programs, but in Vista you cannot. I tried to download Windows Defender from Microsoft to see if it will uninstall and then reinstall, but a message come up saying that Windows Defender is part of Vista. Saying you don't need to it;s there already.
/(OoO)/ emoticon

Now is this ruining my computer. For the most part I don't see a change in my computer other than that message popping up every a boot up my computer.

Two things I haven't done yet:
1) Go to a restore point.
2) Reinstall Windows with the Vista repair disc. Or whatever they call it.

Now I think I am to far ahead to go to a restore point and I hoping I don't have to go through to reinstalling Vista. I'm praying to God no.

I want to know if anyone has had any experience with this? "

Does anyone download big files using a DSL?

1 year 1 month ago

"I just wanted to know if it was possible to download really big file on a DSL Hatesyou. Because everyone or mostly everyone tell me go with Comcast, but at the moment cable connections are to expensive for me to afford.

People say a that DSL is not adequate to download big files. I'm sorry if this was a noobie question. I knew that depends on how far away that office is and how the line is configured on your computer. Basically my question was is it possible to download big files on a DSL? And people have posted that is was possible, however they all said it depends on the configuration and how far away that office is to get a fast connection."

And there is no 384Mbps DSL. DSL technology currently maxes out at 10MBps in the US (AT&T offers it, not sure if Verizon does), and even that is very limited in availability (there are requirements with regard to distance to local switch station and line quality for DSL speeds).

Sorry that was a typo. I meant 356KBps.

Click here for the DSL speed with Verizon. Hopefully this helps a little

Thats okay, thanks for your input. .(n_n). emoticon

I'll look at this thread.
Because I am going to order the service since at the moment I can't afford Cable. But I will only have it for a limited time, perhaps a year since if it doesn't go well I'll search for another service provider.

Nintendo DSi

I'm really glad I held off on the lite I knew something else was coming but just was about to give up hope

I totally agree with you.

I have the original DS and being a fan of Nintendo games since I was a kid playing with Pokemon on the Gameboy Color, I totally agree with you about laying off if you have already a DS Lite. Personally I didn't much like the Lite version. It was smaller, I give it that, but when you put in the GameBoy Advanced cartridge it stuck out rather profusely. So, I never like the Lite very much, but this version I might consider.

Since I have all ready the original I could play my Gameboy Advanced games on that and play with my DS version on this new model. I like the idea of a bigger screen and a web browser.

I never liked the idea of a web browser in the other version because you have to buy the package and insert it in the SD slot. I liked keeping my game in the SD slot while going online, another reason why I didn't bother with DS Lite. (Also, didn't want to lose the game XD)"

I downloaded the other day 45 GB file using a torrent... I know, its a bit intimidating doing something that big, but if you have it correctly configured, it can be lightning fast. The 45 GB file of Naruto and a 40 GB file of Inuyasha, along with many many files exceeding 10 GB of data. For Naruto and Inuyasha, each took about 3 days to finish in its entirety and that was with my connection bombing at a peak of nearly 2 MB/sec and a low of about 50 KB/sec... That was with a desktop with LAN connection and comcast service. I usually will set up my torrent not to run below a 10 KB/sec download so that it will have a minimum speed along with going a bit quicker without bogging my computers RAM down too much. Usually I have up to 5 torrents downloading at once and all completed ones on que for uploading. Uploading at about 3 MB/sec usually. If you want to go for a torrent download, I'd suggest using Utorrent. It keeps the programs size to a minimum while maximizing on options, unlike Azureus which has become somewhat ineffective in my opinion. But yeah, that's my two cents.

I already know how fast Comcast Cable can be. All I want to know if you can download big files like 15+gigs on a DSL connection or more specifically Verizon DSL that can run up to 1.5MBps to 356MBps a second?

Torrents are good for downloading big files but that is not what I was asking. I know, more or less, to know about torrent programs and their file sharing. All I want is to know if a DSL can download such big files in a reasonable amount of time. On a Comcast wireless connection the most I ever got in a huge download was 600/KBps only because that torrent just came out and everybody was sharing. So in response ended up with really fast download.

I downloaded that torrent which was roughly 13gigs and I downloaded that in a day. But other torrents took almost a week and mostly downloaded at about 80/KBps and and that torrent was smaller from 3gigs to about 8gigs took a week even with a Comcast cable.

I want to know is can a DSL line run about one gig a day to download? If it can I will be happy, but this tread is also about other people who have DSL connections.

"Yeah, that is about want I need because I download torrents that are on average 7gigs to download may take me a week to download it, but I think that is okay for me.

I agree with you that big direct downloads are unacceptable to me because of the reason you just stated. "

Does anyone download big files using a DSL?

"I am trying to get a connection in my house because I don't use an internet connection. I have always used an hotspot or a neighbors wireless connection but I want my own. So, far as I know Verizon DSL looks appealing, however does anyone download big files from it?

I download big files from my neighbors or from a hotspot they used Comcast Cable internet or another high end DSL, but I don't know what most hotspots used for there internet connection, and I know that Cable is a lot faster but even with the wireless connection I downloaded torrents that on had an download speed, on average 80KB/s or 80 Kilobytes(I hope I got that right) a second, but I was fine with that because as long it downloads maybe a three quarters of a gig a day I'm happy.

Verizon DSL says that could download at about 1.5MBps second to about 386KBbps on a download average, but I know this as a come on and I think that it is just a ploy to attract new customers as myself. But I want to know is, does anyone here use Verizon DSL to download huge files that could be one gig or more or, is that impossible?

I just want what people use so I could get a clear picture. I searched the internet to understand average download speed but they were either not helpful or too technical."

Console or PC?

1 year 3 months ago

" I rather have a console than a PC. There are not much titles for the PC and most of them are MMORPG games that, for me, gets a bit old after a while.

Consoles on the other hand, I like to play on the various types of genres and I don't have to do much but plug in the cartridge or disc and press a button, the game loads in and you start playing.

With PCs you have to configure, and configure, before you can get the right specs for your computer or the right hardware. For me it is much of a hassle to play games on the PC. I am really paranoid with my specs on my computer and I have to get things just right for me to play any type of game.

True consoles are hard to upgrade or there is no chance to upgrade one at all, for a console is better. I don't get how not having fast reflexes on a mouse and keyboard have any effect on weather you can play games on a PC or not. To me, just to much configuring controls on a computer is such a hassle."
