I dig this scan, would make a great wall cleaned up removing crease and text.

Is that enough for a wall?

No.

That's what's known as a scan to wall, and would not be acceptable for the gallery. The point of the gallery is really more about creativity - you need to create your own background. Of course, you can use the scan and its compostion for inspiration, but you would need to remake your own versions of stuff, rather than simply cleaning the scan.

Thanks, syzygy! That actually is a lot more helpful to me and now I have a much better idea as to where this wall has gone wrong.

I guess I'll scrap this feeble attempt and see if I can either salvage the vector for something more solid or come back to Session Zero with something 100% new.

How do i put a scan/extracted image onto my background? i been looking at forums and none of them are real clear on how to do this.

Well you could, but that would be the same as takeing another wall clearing up a few areas and saying its yours.
I say extract the characters that you can and use them in your own way.
Cause anyone can just clear up an image, without any effort to actually turning it into their own home brewed wall.

Ah, lovely wall! Though the scan looks a bit blurry in some places, maybe it's just me. To fix that, try setting a duplicate of the scan to 'soft light'... but even if you don't do that I believe it'll get accepted cause it looks great :3

ya, that looks pretty awesome. great job on the scan and the clouds! maybe blend the ships alittle better (duplicate layer, guassian blur lower layer maybe by 1). otherwise i'd say it's ready :)

ok.. this is better..
i have a question.. are they sitting up there in the sky??
u can put a cloud on the feet to cover the fade...
and.. did you use the gradient tool to change the color of the clouds?
it looks weird coz the clouds on the bottom is kinda red.. and then the top part is blue.. and theres nothing in between those colors.. try adding a lil orange and some green..

I work slowly too since i've to search every effect and tool meaning on the net, tutorials, ...
I don't understand well so i try and save step by step jpeg version and in the end i don't even remember which one goes with which effect ...

I worked nearly 10 days for the blood plus wallpaper and an entire week only for the blood ...

Anyway, can you tell me what are the steps when you choose a stock photo to include it in a wall ?
When does it become acceptable and when is not enough worked ?
