"I’m... sitting on the fence now.Yes, that’s something big to think about. In both situations, people get thrilled by watching or playing something that would be completely unacceptable if it were done in real life. It’s a weak argument, but I think anti-violence is drilled into our brains much more than treating women with dignity. I’m not that familiar with the law but I think violence has a heavier consequence.
I think from a feminist perspective, men’s interest in rape eroge or other pornography means that men actually want women as sex slaves (I bet a lot them do, actually), and it might encourage men to treat women badly. I’m sure you can understand that perspective. So if they take away the demeaning parts of eroge, those kinds of fantasies would no longer be ok, and perhaps guys would later become disgusted when shown rape eroge. Heh, it’s not really possible because of our (men’s) instinctual urge to pass as much of our genes on as possible. Anyway, I think mistreating a woman or child is not as unbelievable as going on a killing spree and in some ways, it’s easier to do, so that’s why violence in the media is not seen as serious. <-- That’s me being stubborn and trying to think of a reason but not coming up with anything good.
You’re right; there is a huge difference in that aspect. What I meant was that what we would be watching in the two is basically the same. I won’t tell someone what they can or can’t think, but I just don’t want them to be having a good time watching a child having sex, or worse, being raped.
Of course, I’m sure that the majority of the people who watch that stuff don’t even think about transferring it to real life. Actually, I’m not sure about the Japanese though... Personally, I think they’re still quite sexist. After all, the people who are against the ban in this thread seem like respectable people. But is it not at all likely that the more people are exposed to such media, the more they will think it’s ok? There’s bound to be some effect.
By the last sentence, are you also saying that if people don’t have fictional rape to watch, they will become so frustrated that they will go raping? Or am I taking it out of context? I don’t think the people who would actually do something awful would be satisfied with cartoon sex and vice versa, but I wouldn’t know. I’m thinking it’s the fact that no one’s actually being harmed and the fact that it’s forbidden that turns people on, and I guess I can’t find fault in that.
You know, when you first mentioned the nekomimi, I wasn’t even thinking about nekomimi in eroge or that sort. I just thought you meant in general anime == Pretty much everything in eroge is now banned, huh? I’m part feminist so I still don’t think it’s all bad; you can still have regular porn >B] I’m also a hypocrite, so I’ll say that I hope it doesn’t affect yaoi too much >>;
This discussion can easily go on forever because it’s so controversial and there’s a ton of room for contradictions. I'm exiting it now because I have nothing good to say, haha. I really want to know how this discussion would turn out if we were in 2050."

"AssasinXXX, you are getting quite outrageous lately. I knew I was being tricked, but I went for it anyway, lul.I joined for the wallpapers! Back in the day, I would change wallpapers so often! And it was hard to find anime widescreen wallpapers for my laptop, so I finally caved in and joined (I don't like joining websites, hehe). I'm glad I did!
Oh, and I feel that way too, Donda!"

"Hm, if you bring up what a human truly is, that just sparks a whole new debate, because it's just so subjective. For me, I think the ability to be better (like treating people better) is what makes us humans, and our "immoral" desires come from the animal part of us. And yeah, I can't see the government ever saying, "Humans are like that, so we'll allow it."While you do make some good points, I don't think you're really open to the points from the other side, like the desensitization part. Getting rid of animated child pornography won't lead to the ban of nekomimi, you know, hehe."

"I think pink-sakura made some awesome points. When I read this topic a week ago, I was thinking about what good arguments could come from both extremes, and it was pretty hard for me, so I'm really happy I read that.In my opinion, watching an animated film is the same as watching a film with real people. Even though the former is 2D, it's a depiction of things that we can easily relate to, and people get attached to cartoon characters all the time. The same goes for comics and games. So I think an animated child doing sexual things is the same as a real child doing sexual things, and the difference is that the animated child is in a form that someone might enjoy more.
On the other hand, it's true that enjoying that genre won't necessarily turn someone into a rapist, just like playing games with lots of violence won't necessarily make someone a murderer (provided that there is good parenting). In that case, should games where people are killing each other be banned as well? I guess there are still differences, and one of them is that people are generally killing their enemies in those games and not taking advantage of someone. And I think pink's argument is great for this aspect too. So while I can't blame anyone for having a loli fetish, I don't think it's right for them to continue being able to get watch/read/play those things."

The Toilet

"Lol. Well, in my family, we always put the toilet seat back up because we don't want the water to hit it when we flush. I think. That's good for my dad I suppose. I think in your case, it may just be more courteous for you to put it back down. Like... so that the girls in the house don't have to put it down after you. But I don't see the big deal about putting down a toilet seat, so it may just be because your mom wants the toilet to look good in case anyone comes over, haha."View
The Animation Industry

"Ah, I finally get the chance to comment on this topic! It was an interesting read! But I only read a couple of the articles linked, and now I'm kind of dizzy from my stupid cold so I can't read the rest. Anyway, I realized that I never thought of the animators unless I was watching a Ghibli or Makoto Shinkai movie. I normally just laugh and wonder why some companies hire bad drawers ._. I do know that a lot of mangaka are rather poor or work under a lot of stress though, because they always complain about it, haha. I wonder how much money CLAMP make. But I feel for the animators. Animating was one of the careers that I considered but rejected because of my need/want for money.
I don't know much about animation companies (or about business), but as an accounting student, (omg I just wrote stupid instead of student. am I totally out of it??) I don't think the companies are running their businesses too well. I think that if they spent a little more on the animators so that they wouldn't produce lazy-eyed characters in almost all animes (actually I'm just thinking Naruto and Bleach), more people would be motivated to buy their DVDs. Oh, but the DVDs are supposed to be better quality than the TV version... yeah, I really don't know what I'm talking about... But I also think the English companies are wasting their money on voice actors when the majority of the fans would rather listen to the original voices! Erg, I was planning to apply my knowledge from all those business courses I've taken and talk about the industry, but since I don't know how they run, I would just be making a bunch of assumptions and... stuff.
Oh, that article that compares the Japanese wages to American wages doesn't seem too reliable. They didn't mention the cost of living in that article, did they? Comparing just the wages is not adequate. But still, we get the idea that they receive unfair wages.
Bones, Madhouse, and Production IG are < 3!"

Paying for Dinner
8 months 2 weeks ago
"Lol, this is one of those things from the past that people are just so used to, even though we're now "equal." But like a lot of people have mentioned, it does depend on the situation. It's still normally the guy that asks the girl out to dinner (I'm judging from the media, lol) so it's really strange for the girl at the end of the meal to say, "I pay." Especially if the guy is one trying to impress the girl. I think a lot of guys would feel embarrassed to let the girl pay, wouldn't they? And most girls still want to be taken care of while the guys want to show off their ability to take care of a woman. For those that don't feel that way, splitting is good. On that, I agree a lot with what ~Katelyn has mentioned, haha.On a different but similar note, I don't like it when people say "ladies first" before letting me ahead of them, lol. I know the people are using it for good intentions, but I've seen people use it too many times to make fun of weak guys that it just sounds derogatory to me, lol. I walked up to a water fountain at the same time as a guy and we both stopped, and then, as you can guess, he said, "ladies first" and I thanked him. But while drinking from the fountain, I thought, "So this guy thinks that I need water more than him just because I'm a woman, huh?!" LOL, I knew he was just trying to be a gentleman though. He would've been just as (or more) gentlemanly to me if he said "you first" and would've let a guy go ahead of him too. *suddenly starts thinking about yaoi* Lol. "

What do u think of nudity in Wallpapers??
8 months 2 weeks ago
"I don't like wallpapers with ecchi/hentai-type nudity, but otherwise, I really have no problem with nudity. In fact, I think the body is really interesting to look at, haha. And some concepts are much better portrayed with a naked person, lol.I don't think nudity that is done for the purpose of making guys horny is acceptable in a site like this. But I'm not sure if you're talking about ecchi or nudity or the hardcore type or the... lighter... type (?) haha. Sex-themed images, advertisements, etc. are everywhere nowadays, and kids are bound to bump into them somehow. Banning that theme from here won't solve anything. I think the minimum age required to join this site is good enough for most ecchi wallpapers that are made, but a lot of the ecchi scans here are so borderline hentai that... it's irritating. I mean, when I see that the 3 top rated scans are of girls that are 100% going to have sex, I can't help but think how shallow people are."

Feelings on Armpit Hair

Hey fellas ...and ladies! hows your luck with the opposite sex?
8 months 2 weeks ago
"LOL, nice pictures to accompany this thread. Well, I'm not any of those. I've been looking down on boys since elementary school. I'm not sure why, but I think I have an idea. When I was in kindergarten, some girls in a higher grade were play fighting with their boy classmates and saying they have cooties and such. I don't remember why I was with them, but I joined the "fight" and got shoved down by a boy, so hard that I broke my arm. *grudge* lol. And then I got bullied by a group of 3 boys, because I supposedly hit into the leader before. So yeah, that made me think that all guys are stupid, and I tended to stay away from boys and I only have a few male friends. I've been trying to change this in the past few years, but any male friends that I do make (which are not many) are the ones that allow me to be mean to them, haha. I'm still really unapproachable. Oh, but I tend to attract drunks and homeless men! They like to talk to me. Romance is just so far away from me, lol."View
Small things that immensely piss you off?
9 months 2 weeks ago
"Haha, I don't think any of the things you (Longbow) mentioned are small. In the car incidents, you could have been injured, and with the two girls... they just sound dirty and brainless. Small things would be like getting annoyed at things that would not affect normal people. I really can't think of an example though, heh.Well, I'm annoyed by most teenagers, but it seems like most people eventually say, "kids these days..." haha. I don't think I get annoyed at small things... Hm, but I hate it when people tap loudly on their laptops during class, especially when they have fake nails. It's an annoying sound and it's distracting. Then I do irritated by small matters... hm... I'm getting really confused here. Let's just say most people don't like disrespectful people, haha."
