"In my opinion your priming coat is good. For me it looks like summer mood.
I think you should first consider about how to fill the background.
Maybe you can put outlines to the blue stripes and fill the white fields with a light pastel shade, with the form of the blue stripes.
Or you can add summersky with clouds and overlie it with stripes, again with a light pastel shade. The title you can add at the end.

i have to admit that - on my way of creating the wall - there were a lot of ideas.
Kaneda should be in front 'cause he is the main character in the story and original i wanted to use the pattern, but as it was said its hard to fix. So i added his girlfriend Kay, which i found here: www.animepaper.net/gallery/scans/Akira/item109525/
and tried to include them in the bg.
I changed the colour of pattern into blue because i think it is a good contrast to the red cloth of the characters and fit in the ring to get a litlle more life to it.

"Now i've changed all but the front character.
For the bg i used a drawing in form of a map from an Akira artbook
which you can see here.
It was less work than the older bg but i think there is more atmosphere.
I added some places (belongs to the story) more or less exactly with help of another magazine titled Akira World.
The three signs above are the katakana letters for Akira.

Now i wonder whether this wall is overloaded?

to tell you really what i think:
the first edition is your best.
In your last i can see the edges of the tree-scan and (in my opinion) the tree doesn´t fit to the rest. In the two birds above you can see the pixels. Unfortunately i have no idea how to do 'More to Life'.
As i road you once, this wall has a lot of harmony, it is because it remembers me about watercolour pictures in books of fairy stories.
Maybe you can add some more houses (in style of the houses in your wall) or a palace to fill the bg. Don´t know how to do that but this is my suggestion.
Another idea is to extend the bg - and to reduce the size of the right front character with the train, or cut away a part of the botton.
Hope you have the right idea to realize the wp.

"Hi,
this is a simple wallpaper with a scan of Kaneda, the original you´ll find here.
The background is a pattern of little crosses with different colors.
Right above you see the letters for Shotaro, beneath the two katakana letters for Kaneda.
I don´t know if this pattern is too ugly, or are there any other mistakes - what is your opinion?

i think the concept of the first wall is very good,
but you should rework the outlines of the front character, specially at the parts of the body - and the same for the little pic, you can see it at the outlines of the black shirt.
After that you should rub out little mistakes (on the hair of the big shadow is a stain)
Then put in a title and your sign, the place and art of title is important for the retrospect.
But i don´t exactly what you want to do with the small pic? Less size for wp´s are 1024x768.

if you like to hear the opinion of a bad waller, i believe that the front characters, made with these 3D filters, don´t pass session zero (i had the same problems longer time ago). it seems that the contours are not the way they should be.
I think the bg doesn´t fit to the front too.
All in all i think your idea is very good. Maybe you should try to work without emboss and rework the outlines of the front characters. After that you maybe have more possibilities to fuse the backgroung.

it´s intersting to see how long you are working at this wall and the different ways of styling, i think yor second version with the name eyeswallxf5 is the best,
cause the light hair gives a good contrast.
In the last you put in a new spacy bg but the outlines of the character are not so good,
because the bg is too bright.
The only way to change that is to clear the outlines or to darken the bg.

As I said I like your second wall.
Maybe you can mirrow that bg (with changing lightpoints at the same time)
so that it looks, as if the bg character is looking to the front characer.
But i´m mot a good waller and don´t know your scans, programs and what picture about the wallpaper is in your mind. At least the right idea comes from you.

"I didn't want to use the wall as model, but I realize that it can be seen in that way.

I changed the eyes of Tetsuo, the silhouette of the moon hides his nose, maybe it looks a bit clownish. The letters are in Katakana and in translation: Shima Tetsuo.
In front you see the fans of Tetsuo proclaiming the 'Great Akira Empire'.
Maybe you can tell me if that wallpaper has a future here !

on the other hand I would say that the figures on the right are not so suitable.
they look like 'tapagujeros'. But - how I said - it´s only my opinion.

The bg shows you destoyed Neo-Tokyo.
In the middle is a blurry ribbon wich presents a river.
The chars are Kai and Kaneda kissing,
this szene is the only romantic one I know in this epic.

"As $nudls says, just use the lasso tool and crop it or magic wand.
if you use magic wand set % more low. After that you use the layer-effect: contour or outline, then you can see the pixels you have to erase"
