First, let me say the vector is FANTASTIC! Great shading, crisp lines and you continued the dress really well.

So really, all you need now is the background 8D I don't know what tool you were using to draw the lines on the window thing, but they look a little wobbly? I dunno, with the cripsness of the foreground it doesn't match. I would go over those. Also, you should figure out your light source (from the vector, it's probably the top?) and use that in the background, as right now it's looking very two-dimensional. As someone above mentioned, the stone could do with some texturing as well; straighten out the bricks and it'll look better. If you were having doubts about the sky, don't! It looks really good.

"Okay, sorry for another long absence from this wall. But I'm determined to make this work! I've toiled too long on it to drop it now~



Felt like making a few radical changes:
- Outlined the roses around the edges. I know the lines aren't perfect, and I'd be willing to fine-tune them if you guys like the change.
- Blurred the shadow the characters cast a little more.
- Changed the wall in the back to striped.
- Altered the textures a little. I'm wondering if I should just take them out altogether...

Better? Worse? You tell me xD

Can anyone suggest improvements to their shadow? I'm not very good with the edit > transform > skew tool, it seems, and it looks a little unnatural to me.

Well, don't shadows bend at a funny angle when they hit a wall? And elongate?

I'm just thinking with the light source on the characters, if I've got it going in the right direction. The light's coming from the upper left, so maybe it should be skewed more in the opposite direction from that...? I dunno xD"

"Good start!

I'm not sure if this wallpaper needs brushes. Right now, you can't really tell what the focus is as the character's too washed out, the type sticks out too much and then there's the checkered texture.

To fix each of those:
- Increase the opacity of the character
- Move the text farther down
- Either decrease the opacity of the checkered bit so it's barely noticeable or just remove it.

In short, less is more. I say this because the background is already so detailed you don't need textures/brushed/whatever to bring it out.

I'm sorry if that sounded harsh! ^^; When your wall got rejected, did the admin leave any comments in the message on how to improve (besides to come here)?

"Indeed, it's pretty nice~ I like the fire look, but thinking as it's Ragnarok, it would be lovely also if you put a background like in the game. Just a suggestion, if you don't do that then you might want to decrease the saturation of said background, it's brighter than the character and hence takes the focus away from him. It's a good start :D"

"Ah, very nice wall! I love the manga image, you extracted it well ^^ However, I'm not completely kosher with the text – I'm not sure what bugs me about it, but something does. Perhaps it's the font? I dunno, I'm not a huge fan of swirly fonts on walls (though this one is quite nice). Maybe surf around dafont.com for something that would fit the image a little better?

As for the background, I quite like the trees, but the stark black-to-white gradient is a bit harsh with the image. Since the image seems to have a bit of a blue tint, why not take a really dark blue a the top and go down to a light blue at the bottom? I think it would look nice that way :D Still, it's looking really good, so keep it up :3"

What I would do is put more detail in the background – from my experience, just a gradient, text and scan won't do at AP. I like the light coming in from the top left, you could put some watery textures in the back, maybe? Other than that it looks lovely :3"

Same thing with the angle of her fingers, the index is a bit too far away from the middle finger and the thickness of the fingers could be more uniform.

Here are some good tutorials to get you started, it's not that hard once you're used to it, it just takes a while sometimes :D"

Um, crazy idea: how about you vector the guys? Then they could be bigger in the wallpaper and eliminate the need for the border. Sure, it'd be a big project, but if it makes you feel better you wouldn't have to vector the chains if you didn't want to :') If you don't want to, I would suggest making the edges of the text less blurry and also to put more interest in the background like Snowingheart said. Fixed the line at the top (which was actually unintentional), upped the opacity of all the flowers/roses/vine things, and cleaned up the scan even more.

As for the picture in the back, I dunno if I like the fact that's she's also in it, but the bridge itself is nice... Can you find any backgrounds from the game without any people? Realistic ones would work in this case, cause the style is more 3D.

So uh, nice idea! I'm digging the newest version xD Though the previous comments are spot-on – lighten up the grass and the scan a bit more, as the fireflies are too bright and not putting the main focus on Roxas when really, the main focus should always be the scan (except in a few cases, but this isn't one of them). I would actually agree with the comment I quoted, Roxas needs to cheer up 8D The firefly!font is a cute idea but I think it would be better if the letters weren't crooker in some places. Anyway, great job :3 much improved!"

Now that that's over with, what's going on in the background? *__* It's a bit too pixelated for me, you could try a gradient instead and some nice, simple brushes. Also, since the character itself is so simple, you could greatly improve the quality of the wall by vectoring it.

"Mmkay, I tried everything as you say and here's the result xD



Lowered the opacity of the roses, smoothed them out a bit in some areas, added a floor from the line and a tile pattern to make it more 'real'. Added a blown-up chandelier screen in the back because I could and it added interest and put a white outline behind the characters and above the floor. Whew!

Note that by no means is this a final copy! Very much open to changing stuff, so feel free to comment :D;;"
