Trick or Treat by °chanelqueen17 1 month 2 weeks ago

^nat
After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

This is a vector trace I took forever (literally off and on for months) with and finally completed recently. I added some textures to the wall/floor to add some depth to it and left a nice large space for icons on the left (I prefer my wallpapers very clean but I get the feeling that people feel my wallpapers in general are too simple. Is it of AP postable quality or not? "

Shampoo Wall, what do you think???

3 years 8 months ago

"I think you have too much going on in the background. Too many colors and too many different patterns. I like the idea of capturing 80's style graphic design but I think it will look better if you pair it down to just a few colors and only use one of the different patterns (like maybe only the checker pattern)."

A little critique please

3 years 10 months ago

"Forgive me if I am posting this is the wrong area. Playing around with the v4 beta I noticed that under upload desktop it says the following: JPG and PNG formats are acceptable. GIF format is not supported due to site abuse.

Upon attempting to upload a PNG file I received the folloing message:

Wrong image type!

AnimePaper only allows jpg images to be uploaded, even if your image ends with jpg does not nessesarily mean the image is encoded in jpg format.

Technical: Image mime type - image/png

Edit: Hello old thread. How in the hell did a new post get attached to this? What is going on in here?

Hellsing/Walter

"Perhaps you should consider adding more wires. I thought Walter used more and I think it would jazz up the picture a bit. You did a great job on the vector and considering how clean it is you might consider a different background with less texture as well."

"The third image of Ichigo in the back doesn't blend so well with the two other versions in front of him. Maybe soften that layer up a little so it doesn't stand out so much?"

A little critique please

4 years 1 month ago

"Ok, I've made some changes based on the above suggestions and have updated the linked picture in the original post. I've also relocated the tree a bit and given the whole picture a light warming up with a gold overlay. Better, worse?

Edit: Here is what I think will be the final version if no one finds major fault with it
Final, probably."

"I would dump the text as it is rarely effective in a wallpaper and tends to just clutter up things."

"Two things I noticed, the line of her nose is a little tweaked, you might try smoothing it out a bit. Also, you might consider adding in the rain that exists in the original."

A little critique please

4 years 1 month ago

"Hey all,

I'm finally working on a new wall that seems like it might be worth posting here (I've done a few since my last one they just haven't been anything worth noting) and I'm looking for a little advice/critique on it.

Click for goodness sake!

I'm going for a fall setting and trying to keep the wall as uncluttered as possible while conveying that sense of season. Am I doing to much? Too little? Does the tree suck? Thanks in advance for your input :)"

Regarding "Screen Shots"

4 years 2 months ago

"If you don't have another player, you can make screenshots in Media Player. Pause wherever you like and hit Ctrl+I to make the screen shot. A Save-As window will come up and you have the choice of BMP or JPG as the file type.

"It looks like you are changing the stroke color and not the fill. Double-click the fill color (the square on the left) and a color picker should come up. Choose your color and click ok. For shapes you've already chosen the color you can also just hit Shift+X to swap fill and stroke colors."

Reika Wall

4 years 2 months ago

"I'm no wizard with backgrounds but you may want to soften the lines on Reika a bit like this. If you have her on just one layer then just duplicate it, for mulitiple layers copy merged and paste above the original vector work but below the feathers. Then run a gaussian blur with a radius of ten on the new layer and fade the opacity of this layer to somewhere between 20-30 percent. If gives that psuedo-shiny painted cell effect that so many of the shows from this period seemed to use (as opposed to the cloud filter they seem to use so much the last year or so). Also, maybe just a little blur on the feathers closest to the "camera" to give illusion of depth?"

CAT POW-A

"I would extend all those white speed lines out across the whole picture. The sky is fine but you might consider a monochrome halftone pattern on the meow text and fixing the one blue part that doesn't line up with the white shape behind it or maybe dumping it. Add windows, do them in lighter shade of your background gradient."

Oh geez, I'm walling again.

"I think you should take the quick concept art one step further. Make a background that looks like a child's rendering of buildings on fire in crayon and make Roy look like a paper cut out. Just for a change of pace :)"

"On trees and air effects - I'm going for clean. I'm not big on busy wallpaper.

On the logo blending, I used the same two shades as the scythe and the deathful days bit I used the same color as the moon? Are you saying those three colors don't go or that the whole logo doesn't blend. I thought the point of a logo was to stand out some."

LOL! You make funny walls =) I'd suggest adding something in the bottom part to fill up the empty black space =P Other than that, there's nothing I can comment on since it's already extremely well done! Good job!

How about something like this?

Deathful Days

Too silly?"

Sayoko needs your input

4 years 2 months ago

"I've been working on this off and on for a little while now.
The Death

It comes from a scan I found on Minitokyo where Sayoko is pictured as the tarot death card with the delightful engrish phrase "the death" across the bottom. I vectored it, adding some length to her so the sythe wouldn't be cut off, adjusted and extended the mountains, enlarged and moved the moon and added in some clouds. All this and some color adjustments because the original scan was pretty flat. Is this post worthy or do you feel there is more to be done with it. Should I have ditched the original background all together and done something else? I'm trying to maintain a cartoony feel to it thus the simple and thick lines and coloring.

Thanks for any input you can provide."

Nyamo vector art

4 years 3 months ago

"Illustrator or Photoshop?

Edit: Either way, make rough ovals approximating the shape of the blush spots filled with a shade slightly redder than the source material on a new layer above the artwork. Then gaussian blur this layer and drop the opacity until it looks good. Also, in PS you can use the smudge tool to alter the shape even more or use a little motion blur."

I'm fresh out of ideas here.

4 years 3 months ago

"I was filling a request in ADTRW and came to three conclusions:

1. This is the first time I've ever traced a Bebop character.
2. I have done 170+ traces, perhaps even more (Holy crap! Where did my life go?).
3. Most importantly, I have no idea what else to do with this trace.

What I like best about this site is that it is forcing me to go beyond just tracing and using a cheap render clouds+blur background. Unfortunately, this has slowed my output considerably as now I have to put thought into the background :)

This all being said, I have a cute Ed vector from a screencap. While the background is perfectly acceptable for the requester, I wish to continue contributing here and don't think it is enough. Right now I'm tempted to grab another shot of Ed&Ein playing or something, vector it and turn it into a pattern behind her (like a silhouette of them in the back and one small full color one like a logo in the front). Does that sound like a good idea? Am I over-thinking this?"

Sunny day wallpaper help. ^^

4 years 3 months ago

"Photoshop has a couple of leaf brushes in the default set but I've got a small selection of cloud/grass/fur/foliage brushes you can use here that I've collected from the Adobe Exchange site. I think it looks quite good as it is although you may wish to add a few flourishes and clean up the couple of lines that show on the face of the extracted scan."
