How is Japanese Anime better than America Cartoons?

"I don't think there's a better or worse when comparing the 2. It's pretty much different flavors of the same thing. I like american cartoons like family guy, futurama, and south park for their humor and lack of a storyline. You can pick up anywhere in the series and not miss a beat. On the other hand, i like anime for the storyline, art style, and fight scenes. I guess it depends on what I'm in the mood for at the time. "

"Lol, ive been meaning to learn japanese ever since i started watching anime, but never got around to it ;P

but yes, id say that watching anime definitely did help me learn a little japanese. a couple words here and there, and some grammer. i mean i remember hearing somewhere that when you go to another country, its easier to learn the language because your immersed in it, and hear it everyday. watching anime everyday is sorta like that to a lesser degree i would imagine."

what type of anime you likes?

"Id have to say i like every type of anime.

romance- because i love seeing the relationships between the characters develop until they finally have their happy ending.

action/adventure- because i love the cool fight scenes and the story/myth behind the world of the anime.

Sports- because they portray adversity and overcoming them, and some of them have some really cool moves that are physically impossible but visually impressive lol.

drama/suspense- a little drama cant hurt. i like watching serious shows every once in a while, but not too much.

comedy- always love a good laugh. favorite one to date is azumanga daioh. definitely gonna rewatch it one day.

basically what it boils down to is ill watch anything that hooks me after the first episode."

"For me its like this. whichever voice i hear first i usually like. such as i watched GTO in the american dub and now the original japanese voice acting sounds wierd for me. but if i see it in japanese first then any other language dub such as american wouldnt sound right."

"I really hate math at the moment. for some people it comes easy, but calculus is killing me right now. summations and integrations it all looks like ancient egyptian to me. especially when questions can come in different forms and be worded wierdly. but i agree with some others that its all about practice. this is what my friend told me, that all you gotta do is first learn the topic itself then practice practice and practice some more on the practice problems."

"Personally i think being vegetarian is awesome. its all a matter of choice, some people choose to eat meat and some choose to eat only vegetable. theres nothing wrong with being vegetarian, in fact its a really good lifestyle i would imagine. your body would be in good shape as well as the immune system, and meats arent really necessary because there is soy for protein i think.

i mostly eat unhealthy myself. junk food, fast food, meat, etc. but i wish i would eat healthier. i guess its all about taste to me. some people prefer the taste and benefits of healthy food, while i prefer the taste of unhealthy food despite the obvious drawbacks."

"Sigh, i wish i could speak a different language. but i would imagine it would all depend on where i am. if i was equally fluent in 2 different languages i would imagine i would think in the language of the country im currently in. or whatever language i first spoke if i was in neither country. but on the 2nd hand if i was fluent in 1 language and am just barely fluent/capable in a 2nd one, then i would probably think in my original language with the thought of trying to think in the 2nd one so i could practice."

"I think that they should be allowed to get married. i think anyone should, why should it matter whether or not they are the same sex as long as they love eachother?

its probably only a matter of time before it becomes legal anyway, the only thing different from a heterosexual marriage is the reproduction factor which isnt really an issue anyway considering theres adoption and the fact that there are plenty of children who could benefit from 2 parents who love eachother and are willing to adopt a child."

"I dont find anything wrong with tifa. she's clouds childhood friend and even helps cloud in the movie. i loved the movie for its fight scenes and the fact that im a final fantasy fan and wanted to see the ff7 characters in full up to date cg.

and even if aeris lived and tifa died, their positions would have to be switched to follow the game storyline. aeris would be the childhood friend and tifa would be the new person and would that change everyones individual views of both of them? i know mine would. id be sad that tifa died and happy that aeris the childhood friend is still alive to help cloud."

Sony vs Microsoft vs Nintendo

"I think sony lost a lot of ground in this generation. the console is way to pricy. there arent a lot of ps3 exclusive console sellers. atm all they have is final fantasy. why pay 600 for 1 console when you can get 2 consoles for just about the same price. ps3 does have a monopoly on the rpg market though, so far. ps3 is going to have to go the extra mile imo to make the $500+ price tag worth it.

xbox has gained ground imo. their console is decently priced, they have a good backing of games such as GOW and halo. their online service is the best weve seen so far. there may be a price drop soon to compete with the wii maybe? and xbox does have next generation drive support for hd cd's, but its sold seperately i heard.

wii will probably win out this time. with backwards compatability all the way to the nes, nintendo exclusive games such as smash bros, mario series, and zelda series, theyre going to have online capability now which is something nintendo has been waiting for, especially with smash bros and mario kart. and not to mention a low price tag that beats out xbox and ps3 by a lot. and the graphical capabilities of the wii are fine imo. although not as powerful as ps3 and the 360, it will still hold strong till the next gen. nintendo is not about the "graphics and looks" of their games. smash bros and mario kart arent the most graphically impressive fighting and racing games, but they are still 2 of the most popular ones."

"Im looking forward to all 3, but only after a price cut on all 3 lol. $600 for a ps3 and $400 for a 360? im waiting for those prices to at least drop to near $300 or so. but the reason why im looking forward to all 3 is for the graphics upgrades, and each of the main console sellers for each system. halo 3 for the xbox 360, smash brawl for the wii, and final fantasy 13 for ps3. so far each game looks to be worth buying the system for. especially smash brawl. its smash around the world!"

"I myself love ff9. for me its ff7, ff9, and ff10 being my 3 favorite ff. and yes, i dont really like ff8. me being one of the few i think that like ff9 and dislike ff8 lol. i also thought that the ff9 storyline was pretty good, and i loved the character designs. this is also the main reason i think ff9 isnt as popular as the other ones. it went from the more adult looking characters of 7 and 8, to a more childish old world look in 9 which probably turned some people off."

"Hah. ive only ever played 2 horror games. silent hill 3 and fatal frame 2. and both i was never able to get past the first hour of the game or so because i was frightened to death of the game lol. was never very good with horror movies and games are probably twice as worse because your the one controlling the character and leading them to their dooms lol."

"Id have to say my favorite genres are rpg and fps. i mostly play rpg's for the storyline. to me rpg's are like being able to play an anime like the final fantasy series and star ocean. and i play fps for the action and competition like unreal tournament and halo. but then theres those mmorpg's with competative aspects like WoW, where the pvp is done incredibly well."

What separate anime from normal toons?

"I always figured anime for asian animations and cartoons for non-asian animations. such as japanese anime, korean anime, chinese anime. and then american cartoons and such.

but then theres american cartoons that are beggining to look more like anime, such as the nick cartoon the avatar. do we still call those american cartoons or american anime? american anime will take some getting used to, but ill always love american cartoons like family guy, futurama, and the simpsons."

HOW MANY EPISODES DOES AN ANIME HAS TO HAVE?

"Personally i like the animes around 24-28. that seems like a good amount for character and story development. the animes that are around 12 or so episodes seem short to me. its like i wanna see more, but its fine because they were able to get the job done in the 12 episodes. and then theres the animes that go 50+ episodes. i dont really mind if theres 50+ episodes as long as there arent fillers, or the fillers are bearable. yakitate japan being one of my favorite 50+ animes, it doesnt have too many noticeable fillers i think. and then theres naruto which i think is a good anime, but sometimes the fillers are just too much.

i guess the episode count doesnt really matter. there are some animes that have 100s of episodes but it doesnt really seem like it because its such a good anime, but some animes that have around 12 episodes and seem like they go on forever. "
