"Be careful about who or what you download. Some people are malicious and insert harmful trojans and viruses in the files. I suggest installing a software firewall as some form of protection. Some anti-virus software claim they work with torrents, but I never caught a virus during a torrent session.

What I like about Bittorrent is how it can make more efficient use of all participant's bandwidth and increase download speeds through sharing."

"This will sound repetitive, but I guess repitition is a form of emphasis.

I also think the pink or reddish coloring looks sort of weird. The blue eyes might work out. The scan needs cleaning up. The texturing on the polaroid border feels funny, but I think you might be on the right track with some sort of texturing. Maybe the texturing is too even around the frame because it feels like plastic to me. I like the lines near the edge of the picture.

I like the simplicity of this composition. I can't think of any way of filling up some of the voids in the background. I like the voids, but I guess other people may not like the voids."

I think the white cloud above the robot and below the city is too bright. It reminds me when someone takes a picture with a camera and the picture is drowned in the bright flash."

"That is one big edit. I was hoping you would come up with some fantastic idea to fix the original ice problem, but maybe I am asking for too much. This edit looks really good. Is there any particular reason why you need the black bars on top and bottom?

I also had a similar problem with the chunks of ice from your previous edits and the ice dragon in the current edit. I think the shade of blues are too homogeneous. I think it may need some stronger highlights and shading, kinda like Hitsugaya has. Maybe the less we see of the dragon, the more ominous and threatening it looks.

Don't take the rest of my comments seriously, but here are some interesting ideas I was thinking about while looking at your new edit:
1) The top and bottom bars gives me that cinematic feel as if I was watching the anime itself, so I feel like it needs motion. But the picture is quite static.
2) The vertical halos is neat and adds lighting effects. But it does not add more motion dynamics to the picture.
3) Some motion blur on the sword, arms, and maybe on the dragon head might be worth investigating.

"Wow, no logged events. This must be some serious hardware issue. I am now beginning to agree with everyone that it is an overheating issue. Its sort of strange how your video buffer suddenly goes completely one color.

If your laptop is out of warranty, you can try opening it and cleaning the dust out. My coworker did this and his laptop stopped crashing while playing games.

Check if your battery gets hot too while you are using your computer. I don't know if acer had any battery recalls like the rest of the laptop companies had. The battery should only get hot if you are draining it or recharging it. If you are connected to the AC all the time and the battery gets hot while its fully charged or it never reaches full charge, your battery or recharger might be broken. Sometimes these parts get too hot and causes the laptop problems. This occurred to me once about five months ago and I had my IT department replace the battery. The bad battery also caused my video to go randomly blank too because it tripped the power management system and cause the GPU chip to do funny things. The temporary solution before I got my new battery was to remove the battery completely and plug the laptop into the AC outlet.

If your air intake vent is in the bottom, you might want to place your computer on a flat surface, not on something like a rug which may suffocate the fan. I also find that raising the laptop above the surface with a book allows more breathing space and can significantly drop the CPU temperature. I sometimes just jam a novel under my laptop while watching H264 encoded content and the CPU exhaust drops back down to luke warm temperatures. The other solution is to buy one of those funny matts with a fan as someone else has recommended, but I have only found mixed reviews about them and the fan noise might drive you nuts.

"The black and white wallpaper is great with a lot of intense contrasts. I also agree that the text needs some help through experimentation. The glow looks too thick to me. Instead of adding more contrast with the fonts, I think you need to de-emphasize the fonts. Maybe you should try using the outline of the fonts instead and reveal more of the clouds in the background. The outline might have its opacity turned down a lot and be thinned out quite a bit. You might discover that having fonts with less contrast, although harder to read, might make the picture flow better overall because they won't stand out too much. I can not wait to download your final version."

"It feels like the view is in space, but if that's what you want, you achieved it. If you wanted a night scene, it does not feel like a night scene to me.

The star field looks too dense and some of the brighter larger stars should be removed. Both brownish red planets feel like they were molded from plastic.

"Awesome wallpaper. I think you are heading in the right direction. I have a dark LCD that is dying and still find the sword too bright. But I think you are trying to go for the snap shot of him sitting in bright light in a very dark environment. Too bad, computer monitors do not have true high dynamic range display yet because your wallpaper would definitely benefit from that sort of display technology.

It took me several minutes to find the snow in the first picture. I don't know if that is a problem or not, but its quite subtle.

The only other problem I have right now is the big ice structure up front. If feels awkward in the sense that is occupies a big chunk of the screen. I wish there was something in the picture to make it more obvious that the ice structure came from him."

"Does your laptop fail quickly again after it crashes or freezes? Usually when computer parts over heat, they fail again immediately after the computer is reactivated and a heavy load is applied.

I had a tough time digging up more specs on you computer. I think it has an Intel GMA 900 video chip.

Here is one more thing you can do. Go to Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Event Viewer. There are three types of logs here. Try clicking on each of the three types of logs and see if you find any bad Warnings or Error right before a crash has happened. You can double click on a logged event and a dialog box will appear with more details. That dialog box has a funny button with an icon of two pieces of paper which copies the event.

"I think your wallpaper looks a lot better now because the background is angled on a plane in 3D space and it reveals Spike's hair. I still think the text still looks out of place. You might want to embed the text as part of the background as if its news print or something like that.

The sheen, specular lighting, and glare on the gun is not working for me. I can't really describe why it doesn't work, but it makes the gun feel out of place and not exactly in his hands, even if all that stuff is at the front end of the barrel. Maybe its the fact that so much details are placed on the gun, it does not feel consistent with the rest of the scan but the addition of the details does add the dimension of depth, having the gun feel like its stuck in your face."

"Ball mice usually have faster reaction times, but the electrical sensors that measure the rolling speed usually wear out. Optical mice do not wear out in the same sense as ball mice do. I prefer optical today because they are convenient and do not require cleaning. If you guy optical, I suggest getting a high end Logitech. Wired mice may have some latency issues when you start pushing the mice around after it has been resting for awhile. Wired mice don't have the latency problem."

"We may need more data before we can help you. What is the make and model of your laptop? Which GPU do you have and the version of the video drivers? Which OS are you using? What are your power management configurations? Does the problem appear after coming out from sleep/hibernation or does it happen to you while you are using the computer like in the middle of web browsing?

The fact you get a pure blue or green screen is bizarre.

Edit: I missed it - you said in the middle of browsing. That is really weird. I have no clue."

H264 or XviD???

"H264 is the future. H264 is a CPU hog and for contemporary desktop PCs, decoding H264 is usually not a problem unless you are trying to playback huge content. I also find that half of my friends who complain about H264 are usually running an ancient version of the H264 codec. After recompiling or upgrading to the latest versions of the codec, things improve.

What I don't like about H264 is how some people abuse it. I notice that some people are now releasing material in 2/3 the size of the old xvid material. Sure one can download it faster, but there might be some visual quality trade-offs which I find unacceptable."

Motherboard for Core 2 Duo

"It is more important to have working features on a motherboard than a flakey but faster motherboard. All of my recent computers have Asus motherboards. If you are into overclocking, buying the correct motherboard is very important. Asus makes solid motherboards, but other vendors may have more overclocking capabilities.

I also recommend looking into the nforce series boards too. Nvidia usually does a good job with their chipsets."

"August199 took the words out of my mouth. I think you have a good base right now. I also think you need more coloring. Her closed eye lid look strange to me because there it is a mass of blackness. You may also want to reduce some of the vector work that represents the folds or shadows in her hair, clothes, and bow. Replacing them with shading might be one possible solution. You may also want to try to tone down on the black lines."

"Splattered blood or droplets do not look right either. If anything, they look like they were tacked on top. I think the biggest improvement is to find an appropriate background and then from there, maybe decide what to do with the rest of your assets or layers."
