This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

Teen Drivers

And yet I've driven for nearly 4 years, without an accident, and without even being pulled over...

Well, I'm not saying you're a bad driver, am I? No, I'm not. :) People like you and I who do well with driving ( in our age group.) are sadly, a minority.

And I've driven for 7 years and the situation is the same. I'm also female. There's no reason to pull in misogynistic theories into an argument about safe drivers. (And don't get me wrong, I don't think all boys suck at driving, either. One of my friends is the best driver I know, and he's a boy.)

It's a shame that people have to be judged by what others in their specific gender or age group do, but the majority rules, it seems. But making steriotypical statements like "girls are the ones driving around on their cellphones" is like taking a step backwards. I know plenty of boys who gab on the telephone just as much as some of the mouthy girls I know."

College Experince

1 year 3 months ago

"I've always been interested in art, and the expression of ideas through drawing. Commercial art also intrigues me, especially because just about everything we used had to be designed by someone. From the packaging on a box of cookies to the label on a bottle of glue to the billboards along the highway, and designs on the cups you get at Starbucks.

I'm getting side tracked, haha. XD

Anyway. I've got two associates degrees, and now I'm working on my bachelors. The two associates are in computer animation and graphic design, while the bachelor's I'm pursuing is in Studio Art. What do I want to do you ask? I want to teach art, and do graphic design freelance in my spare time.

It took me a while to come to this conclusion, but If you had asked my Jr. High self what I wanted to do, you would have just gotten a very blank stare. I didn't actually start worrying about what I wanted to do in college and beyond until my last two years of high school. I don't think you need to worry about things like your college major yet, especially since you're only in Jr. High. Enjoy the experience that you're having now, and give your main subjects a chance to trigger an interest in you that you'd be willing to develop in the years to come. "

I just want car insurance for teenage males to drop. Teenage girls have to pay less because they have "less of a risk of causing accidents"--yet they're the ones yakking on the cell phone while driving.

Gender is not a qualifier when it comes to talking on the cellphone while driving. Statistically, males do get into more accidents when driving. This includes accidents caused by speeding, drinking and driving, and just plain not paying attention. I'm not saying that girls don't do this as well, but it is -proven- that males have more accidents in cars than females."

"Drinking and driving, being distracted while driving, and speeding, are all done by people regardless of their age. Young people indeed, are one of the groups at highest risk of dying in an automotive accident.

Car Accident Statistics
For those in the age group of 1 to 30 years, the leading cause of death is due to being involved in a car accident. People, who are between 15 to 24 years, and those who are above 75 years of age, are the people who are most severely affected by car accidents.

What I think needs to be required, rather than punishing those who do in fact pay attention to the rules of the road, is to have stricter licensing laws for those under the age of 25 and those that are 70 and older. This would mean better testing to get learners permits, and even full licenses. An example would be a 3or so month recurring evaluation of the said driver's driving skills. I also believe there should be a no tolerance policy in regards to drunken driving (or driving while high, what have you), especially in these risk areas, but overall no matter what your age. "

Ai Yori Aoshi

"I think the vector's very well done, it's nice and clean, and doesn't look like it was done from a low quality source. I do agree that the background is a little lacking. It can be simple, and still be interesting.

I agree with the suggestion of text, but I would be careful with what you chose to put there. The anime title would be interesting, but I think a subtitle would be a good addition as well, so it's not just a floating "Ai Yori Aoshi" in the middle of a field of blue. Along the same line, a way to bridge the text to the vector image would be ideal, as it would help the viewer's eye float across the work better."

Why do people just have to tell evryone that they hate dubs?

1 year 3 months ago

"I'm personally having a hard time understanding what the OP really wanted us to talk about. She likes dubs, and likes them better than subs, and hates hearing people who like the opposite. I think it's kind of silly to restrict your views to one way of thinking just because you don't like it, but that's just my opinion.

As for the subject matter at hand, wether an anime is better dubbed or subbed really depends on two things for me. One, the quality of the acting in either the original language or the dubbed language. If either is sub-par it's going to be more difficult to enjoy the show than with better acting. Because of this, a lot of the older, horribly acted dubbed anime, is unwatchable for me. In these instances I seem to prefer the Japanse audio.

When both are acted equally well (Which has been happening more and more recently) I believe that what you prefer to watch depends on what you hear first. I originally heard and saw my first episode of Fullmetal Alchemist on CN one night when I couldn't sleep, and now I actually prefer the English to the Japanese, though I do enjoy both.

However, in the case of something like D.Gray-man, which has no dub yet, I adore the Japanese voice acting, and really; find myself worried about the voice choices the company that liscences it (if it does indeed get liscenced, but that's an entirely different thought process) will make.

It's all a matter of personal prefrence.
As for why people tell others what they do and do not like? I can only imagine that it's because they're curious about why someone would like something that they have no interest in, or it could be an attempt at starting a conversation."

Do u guys worried bout your exam marks>?

1 year 3 months ago

"I'm in college (American, University for European folks.) and exams are rather different for me. There's still a lot of studying, but I feel a lot more prepared than I did back in highschool and Jr. High. I'm still stressing though, don't get me wrong.

Grades become completely unimportant once you get out into the working field, but in order to get into the working field, getting good grades and flying through our years of school comes in handy. I don't regret having this stress, because I believe that in the end, the skills I get from studying now will help me a lot later in life."

Does age really matter?

1 year 3 months ago

"It really depends on the age and mentality of both people in the relationship, as well as what is socially aceptable. For example, with todays standards, a 14 year old in a relationship with someone 5 years older (19) is both morally, and legally (at least, in both my country, and state) wrong.

Human beings take many years to develop fully, both mentally and physically. We are biologically one of the species that stays with our mothers for the longest amount of time, and for good reason. Not only because we have become so advanced that it takes 20 years of our lifetime to learn enough to get by in such a technology advanced world, but also because our physcial and mental selves are not fully developed untill we are at least mid teens. Even then, the mental processes needed to dive into today's society are no where near obtained by that age, and even then many people even my age, still lack the ability to know right from wrong, or make the correct descisions for their life.

But I'm getting sidetracked. Because of the reasons mentioned above, both mental and physical obsticals can get in the way of relationships like the one I described above. However, there is indeed a double standard, say with adults. Easily, it can be seen that a 30 year old could date and love a 40 year old. But this is likely because they are both mature, fully developed adults, who are able to enter a relationship with equal consent.

I suppose I took this topic slightly differently from most, but I do believe younger teens, and teenagers in general, should date others that are closer to their age range. This works out better in the long run, for both hearts of those involved."

Meet and Greet: Where the new one says hello...

1 year 3 months ago

"Hello everyone! 8)E emoticon

I suppose I'm a touch late on this whole introduction thing, but I wanted to get a feel for the community before I let myself worm my way out of the woodwork. I've slowly fallen in love with this place, and its community, and I hope that in the future I can contribute a lot more to it.

My name is Katie, and I'm a 23( 24 on the 25th. oh god! p(T_T)q emoticon ) year old Art Major, Japanese Minor. I already have degrees in computer animation and graphic design, but I currently do not hold a bachelors in either. I've been interested in anime to varying degrees for about 10 years, and I'm still going strong. My current favorites include Fullmetal Alchemist, D.Gray-Man, and Ouran High School Host Club. I do however, maintain a few constant favorites, which are older series (Rurouni Kenshin, will always be #1 <3 emoticon with Fushigi Yuugi, and Sailor Moon falling in there somewhere ).

Before this gets too long, I'll go on my merry way and prepare for my other final exams, but I hope to meet many people and make a lot of friends here, so hello, hello!"
