After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

Worse RPG!!
3 years 5 months ago
"For me its a big toss up between Baten Kaitos for GC and Magna Carta: Tears of Blood for PS2 - Baten Kaitos has to have the worst battle system ive ever played. Not even being able to decide whether I could attck or defend depending on the luck of my card draw?? Nothing in any game I've ever played in my life is as frustrating as having my turn for attack come up and having nothing in my hand but leather shields. As for Magna Carta, the voice acting is atrocious, the story slow-going, and the fact that there isnt any AI controlling your teammates makes battles awkward for a non-turnbased combat system."View
Downloading Anime
3 years 5 months ago
"It seems to me in this case the legality of downloading anime is just a question of how much effort to company wants to put into things. All the anime rights are of course owned by thier original Japanese parent companies which I don't believe have any legal rights in America but I'm not sure. After that you have the American companies who license the stuff, but the profit turned is probably so small after royalty pay out that it probably wouldn't be worth their while to file a great deal of lawsuits against their already limited fanbase, much different from US-based music companies who stand to lose large amount of revenue through piracy. Also unlike the music industry, the creators of anime dont have to depend as much on sales for their salaries like musicians do with their royalties, so the creators themselves are less likely to make a stink over it because it doesnt really affect them."View
Subs or Dubs?
3 years 5 months ago
"OH!! I almost forgot my fave point in this perpertual debate. Although its not to say that the dub doesn't suck (cuz usually they do), BUT does the sub actually sound better, or is it just that since were not Japanese we can't tell the difference between good and bad voice acting in the language. I mean if you think about it the Japanese actors might REALLY SUCK but we'd never know any better since we don't speak the language."View
Do you wish you could be one of the characters from a anime/ manga show?

"I think everyone on the whole damn planet wishes they were a fictional charater at one point or another, even non-anime people. I myself would be Shinji from Neon Genesis Evangelion so I could get with Asuka AND Rei and make the end of the show not suck! XD"View
Subs or Dubs?
3 years 5 months ago
"I think this kinda fits in better with the "which is better the book or the movie" sort of thing. The first thing you have to consider is how much money the creators put behind the english localization. For example, any of the Studio Ghibli films have excellent dubs because they put forth the time and money to hire professional-level talent because they really want it to do well in America. Normal shows like my-hime or dearS or something they arent going to waste theyre time on so the voice acting is shit. The second thing is did you watch the sub or the dub first? My first anime were Trigun and Cowboy bebop, both excellent dubs in my opinion. I've tried watching the Japanese versions since then and i just can't do it. Everyone sounds wrong. (Vash especially, his Japanese voice sucks!) Thirdly, your opinion on contextual accuracy changes things as well. Alot fo the time the dubs will change culturally specific jokes, names, etc. because the creators and their american staff-mates know that most Americans wont get it. Now its true they dont ever seem to realize that normal american's dont really watch anime anyway so it makes little differnce but still, changing a famous japanese sumo wrestlers name to Hulk Hogan or something like that (frequently done in Lupin 3) is just fine by me. Others theink its retarded but i think theyre just not looking at it from the studio's perspecitve."View
ANIME IS FOR PUSSIES
3 years 5 months ago
"I think it has more to do with Americans' perception that animation is strictly for kids. The fan base in the states tends to be people of the more imaginative/ left-of-center personalities because theyre people who verge from normal thought, by either choice or chance. Even after that there are plenty of "nerds" or whatever you might call them who still don't like anime and would prefer a different form of entertainment so I don't think you can limit it to just that unconfident people like anime. I hate Gundam
3 years 5 months ago
"Yeah I have to second the opinion of the poster here. I'm definitely a big fan of the mecha genre, be it Evangelion, Full Metal Panic, Patlabor or what have you. I just don't think that Gundam is very well written or drawn. 0083 is the only one I've had the least bit of interest in, but all in all i think I've missed something important in the story and i just have no way to know what the hell is going on. Plus i dont really care for the mecha designs, to me theyre a bit boring."View
What happens when you watch too much anime?
3 years 5 months ago
"I start applying anime stereotype responses and sound effects to everyday life situations - like I can almost hear that stomach grumbly sound when i get hungry, you know the one they have in EVERY anime. or I'll have weird mental images of people turning SD or Chibi in weird situations - just quick visual flashes, but odd nontheless."View
What if there was no anime/ manga? what now!
3 years 6 months ago
"HAHA, you forgot about video games! Japanese cultre's prime venue in the states would adapt to the interactive media, provided lonely anime/manga fans with new pc and console games ( like those horrible dating sims! ) and save US customers from importing them. Now if video games dissapeared there would probably be a ressurgence in American action cartoons (stuff like Thundercats and G.I. Joe) with some newer properties coming up to fill in the adult animation fan's time."View

"Cool deal, so it's agreed then. Berserk wins as the predecessor with FFVII popularizing the huge sword genre and bringing it into just about everything the Japanese produce :D Thanks for all the input guys. Now how do I close this topic? (and yeah, i definitely started to notice that about wiki once i started looking a bit further into it...)"View

"I think you're missing the point though. What I'm looking for is the FIRST huge sword. Who was the first fictional character to get a sword that was bigger then any normal human should be able to lift and swing around? That's what I wanna know. That honor still goes to the dude from Berserk right now unless something else pops up. (aside from that i do acknowledge Sagara Sanosuke's zanbato is really friggin huge and definitely earns a spot in my top 5 big badass swords of all time) "View
[Game Discussion] Kingdom hearts 2

"If youre going after Sephiroth you need a few very specific abilities to help you out. Second Chance and Once More will prevent him from killing you right out, Leaf Bracer allows you to heal while he's beating you senseless, and Berserk Charge will allow you to do an un-ending combo during an MP Charge, which means he'll have to combo-break you before you'll stop hitting him. Also level up your High Jump and Aerial Dodge abilities so you can reach him when he does Sin Harvest (he goes really high in the air for this one). The fight is quite a bit easier then he was in the first one if you have these abilities equipped. You should also try to have the Ultima Keyblade if you can because it grants you MP Hastega, which you'll need for faster MP Charge for healing spells."View

""The zanbatō is claimed in Rurouni Kenshin to be a historical weapon from the Sengoku Period in Japan, where it was supposedly designed to be used against cavalry, its large size being useful for killing horses and their riders in a single blow. However, there is no historical evidence that the Japanese ever had such a weapon. It would also be impossible a blade as large as that shown in the anime would be usable by a real person, or even for a handle of the thickness depicted to support its own weight, so if an historical sword called "zanbatou" did exist, its form would almost have been different." ----wikipedia article found under 'zanbato'After doing several internet searches, I was unable to find any reference to the zanbato other then in Rurouni Kenshin or Naruto. In this case the zanbato seems to be either a fictional sword which does not pre-date the Berserk manga, or a real sword which a human could actually wield, and thus not part of my question."

"Wow, thanks for the rapid response people! It seems there's a pretty unanimous response in favor of Berserk. "OK, so with the releae of Advent Children here in the States I'm prompted to finally post this question for discussion. It seems that in just about every video game and any applicable anime that there is at least one character with a ridiculously huge sword. Now I'm not talking about the human-sized huge swords that Conan the Barbarian or William Wallace from Braveheart have. I'm talking BIG eff-ing swords here. Now my question: when was the first in-humanly huge sword appearance? As near as I know it was in fact Final Fantasy VII, but I might be wrong. If anyone knows the answer to this one I'd love to hear it!"View

"Well I 've finished watching episode 3. This is the first episode I've seen that has the beginning sequence/song attached and although the opening song is great the video looks like a video version of someone who just started making wallpapers. Ironic that I've been following along in forum version on a wallpaper site. I think that made me notice it more. The grainy filter used on the clips from the show to make it look like old film is cliche'd and I just have a personal distaste for the collaging elements that were used. I've seen this sort of thing in a lot of more recent art from my generation (and sadly, my peers). It's usually referred to as "the aesthetics of text", basically meaning the letters/words are thrown in because they look pretty/ fill space/ provide contrast to an image, rather then having any actual meaning in the context of the presentation as a whole. I honestly think its crap. That aside, the girl in the tanooki pajamas was adorable:)"

I wonder if his thrid project will combine music with anime again? Now that we've had space bounty hunters with jazz and samurai with hip-hop, what combination could be next? "
