After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

What do you look for in a good scan?

3 months 3 weeks ago

"Okay, so I've been around on and off for awhile now and (as a scanner) I was just curious...

Aside from the typical requirements, what do you (i.e. wallpaper artists) look for in a good Animepaper scan?

What qualities make you more &/or less likely to use a particular scan to create your finished wallpaper? Do you prefer vectors? What about edited images vs. non-edited? Anything else you really like or don't like?

I'd love to hear everyone's opinions on this. :)

Thanks so much!"

Is Size All That Matters?

1 year 9 months ago

"Hello again, everyone! :)

First off, let me start by saying that I'm not complaining, whining, or anything else. I'm just new to all of this and trying to understand and figure things out. Recently I had six practically brand new scans deleted because someone else uploaded slightly larger versions. Mine were 3000 pixels high and the new versions are all approximately 3650 pixels high. So, here's my question - Is size all that matters?

The reason I ask is that all six new versions (along with many other scans this user has submitted), while not terrible, have very poor color quality. I'm not saying my scans were the most awesome things on earth, but in addition to the generic touching up of each scan, I went through a lot of extra effort to make the colors as true to the original as possible. In all, I would say that at least 3 hours worth of work went into those 6 scans, which were only up for a few days before being deleted. So, what I'd like to know is if the coloring of the scan matters? If not, that's great because it'll save me a lot of time, but I'd like confirmation on this before I start doing it.

Thank you for your help! :)"

A Couple of Random Website Suggestions

1 year 9 months ago

"Hello there! :-)

I know I haven't been a member for very long, but in using this site I've come across a couple of minor issues that would make the site much more user-friendly for me (and hopefully for others, too.) I just thought I'd submit them for consideration in some future site upgrade.

1) I would love to have the ability to tag scans as I'm uploading them. Currently, it's a two-step process - I have to scan the image, wait for it to show up in my "Scans" folder, and then go into each image to add tags individually. If it's possible to make it one step instead, that would be awesome! Sort of like what LibraryThing allows you to do when you add a new book to your collection.

2) I also think the ability to explain a category request when actually making the request would be very useful. My thinking behind this is basically to save the moderators some time (and the scanners some frustration.) This way mods don't have to go hunting down information on an obscure series, artist, etc. The person asking can give info and links relating to their request, so that the moderators have a better idea of what's being requested without having to do a lot of extra research. Something else to consider that might work just as well would be, instead of having a category submission form, to create a forum area devoted solely to category requests. This format might also satisfy the people who want explanations for submission rejections etc., which I admit is something else I'd love to see happen, even if they're only pre-created responses like currently exist with wallpaper and scan submissions.

3) When I move things around and close other things down on the front page it doesn't seem to stick from visit to visit even though I'm logged in. Am I doing something wrong or is this just something that will need to be considered for the next upgrade?

Thanks for listening...or is that reading... LOL! :-)"
