This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

Have you noticed ..

"This is a changing world and the society seems to be changing even faster. I've seen kids like these in my own family. My cousin's son is pretty ruthless! At the age of 6 I barely had 1/10 the knowledge he has and was a lot more well behaved!
He'd throw tantrums for the smallest of the things, annoy people to his hearts content, talk back to his mom but more than that tell his father that he knows better than him! If I had dares to say that to my father, even now, he'd remind me whom I'm talking too. Not to mention the lecture on manners!"

Do you laugh alone in the street?

"Oh I've done that plenty of times! But its gets embarrassing in public buses when someone is sitting next to you. I always get the feeling that they are staring at me or thinking I'm a complete idiot!
However, i don't feel so when I'm o and the streets. You can never suppress the smile that springs out of a hilarious thought! "

Which do you prefer? animes that leave you satisfied? or animes that leave you wanting more?

9 months 4 weeks ago

"I generally prefer anime with fewer episodes with an appropriate ending. It could be satisfying or leave me asking for more, either is fine! Both the responses prove that the anime is good.

With anime having several seasons, it seems to get dull with every passing season and seems to drag on. So shorter anime or anime with fewer seasons are better.

why do you hate someone?

"Well I generally don't hate people, but I do dislike a lot of them and the only reason I find common is that they annoy me in one way or another.
May be we hate people who annoy us most! "

"I have a brother who is 3 years younger to me and we both get along very well! Infact we are very close to each other, also we have similar interests which makes it even easier to get along. Having similar interests also lessens quarrels among siblings. I really adore him!

Edit: The best part is when either of us are in trouble the other always supports..."

Why Do Guys Cheat?

10 months 1 week ago

"Well I think a man is generally more insecure in a relationship than the woman. To rid himself of this feeling, he tends to cheat in the hopes of finding someone who loves him more. This is just my theory of why men cheat. Also I think men do fall in love more readily than women.

Though these days women seem to be cheating on men as well."

When people are rude to you...

10 months 2 weeks ago

"Well I generally avoid interfering in other's matters even if it is to tell them that they are being rude. Incase it's one of my close friends' who's rude then I'd definitely tell him/her to stop being rude. Otherwise I'm the kind who'll let things be as they are as long as they aren't bothering me. Also certain people take advices the wrong way and mistake you to be the rude one just by telling them so! Plus, there are the sensitive type who'll over react to the smallest of the comments/views. There are also times when people can be offensively rude, that time telling them isn't wrong. That's no way to talk to the other person."

Morals existing with out god

11 months 3 weeks ago

"I wonder if the animals have (or believe in) a god? I mean they also seem to follow certain laws and do abide by them. For instance a Lion wouldn't hunt unless hungry or eat more than his share. Similarly, elephants pay respect to the dead by visiting their graves. Alpha males in a wolf-pack always stay true to their mates. Its not just humans who have morals.

I'm not a religious person but I still do have certain principles I'd always follow- like never hurt others, or don't impose your beliefs on others etc. So i think moralility doesn't need a God for existance.
Also, as JKoopman says, its all about the benefit of the group. Anything that hinders peace of a group to a severe extent (people or animals) is considered immoral.

There are certain aspects which may be immoral to some but moral/ethical to others. May be that's why we have so many religions and religious feuds. (o_o) emoticon"

college and high school

11 months 4 weeks ago

"I'm pursuing my masters currently, so its a lot different from both grad school as well as high school. I've enjoyed both of them thoroughly and do like them both.. the only thing I've not liked about college is having no uniform! I hate having to think of what dress to wear every morning!

Post-graduation college however is entirely different from both high school and grad-school. You have a lot of responsibilities and have to do every thing on your own. Its fun but hectic. "

Do you listen and trust in your parents?

1 year 1 week ago

"

You are right I have to learn how to "not push" I mean if some day my babies want to tell me fine, if they don't I won't push (even if I'm with the question "are they ojk?") oh! is so complicated, but still have time to learn.

"Not being pushy" to your kids just implies that you trust them and their actions completely. As trust begets more trust, your kids will learn to trust you and your opinions a lot more. Parenting isn't easy, but I'm sure you'll make a great mom since you take so much interest in your kids and their well-being! ;)
Good luck !"

Do you listen and trust in your parents?

1 year 1 week ago

"Well I'm no longer a teen, but I've had my share of rough times with my parents. I trust them completely though. They've always supported me in whatever I have done. If I was wrong I would get yelled at but they would reason it out with me. I think that's the most important part a parent plays. Reasoning out why certain things are bad and why the others are good. They've never said, "Don't do this." but instead they'd tell me why I shouldn't do it or why, even though I can, its best avoided.

Also my parents always listened to my point of view and gave it a thought whether it was rational or irrational. They were never judgmental. I really appreciate their patience with my brother and me. I can discuss just about anything with my mom and dad without doubt or fear and most of all without feeling embarrassed. What's best about my parents is that they've never given up on either of their children. Well there are certain things that I do not share with them and I did tell them that I don't do so their only reply was, "everyone needs privacy in their life, but do not hesitate to ask for help from us when you need it." This made it even more easier for me to talk to them. They give us our space and time and love us quite unconditionally. I couldn't possibly ask for more! I feel lucky.

EDIT: Yes, I do have arguments with them on and off but that's because I always try to skip my chores ;) and tend to be extremely lazy. That really ticks my mom off, but again I love troubling her! "

Canadian team discovers gene that turns cancers off
VANCOUVER
August 13, 2007 at 6:49 PM EDT

A unique gene that can stop cancerous cells from multiplying into tumours has been discovered by a team of scientists at the B.C. Cancer Agency in Vancouver.
The team, led by Dr. Poul Sorensen, says the gene has the power to suppress the growth of human tumours in multiple cancers, including breast, lung and liver.
The gene, HACE 1, helps cells fight off stress that, left unchecked, opens the door to formation of multiple tumours.
Dr. Sorensen's team found cancerous cells form tumours when HACE 1 is inactive, but then additional stress such as radiation is added, tumour growth is rampant.
Kick-starting HACE 1 prevented those cells from forming tumours.

I read this piece of info recently. So we may have a chance to cure cancer.

Well generally once one has got cancer you are sure to die of it. There isn't (as of now) any cure, but there are measures to keep cancer at bay. It is the disease where the apoptosis of a cell (programmed cell death) ceases and rate of cell division increases. Hence, trying to find a genetic cure for cancer seems to be the most effective and promising method. "

Bullies: What has been done to stop them

1 year 2 weeks ago

"I don't know much about this because I've never been bullied though I have seen many being bullied. The best thing to do would be ignore the person and move on. But in your sister's case she's been forced to do something that's not really good for her. May be you should let the teachers know since its gotten quite serious! Hope it won't give them the impression that she's a wuss. May be you should teach her to retaliate and say no. "

What do you think of youth nowadays?

1 year 3 weeks ago

"I've noticed this change happening everywhere. I'm 20 and believe it or not I got a cell phone only when I was 18 and because I was staying away from home! Before that I never really felt the need to have one, despite the fact the all my other friends got it by the age of 16. I really feel that one has the right to choose what he/she does with his/her life but teenagers in doing so seem to be missing out on their carefree teenage-hood! I think its not just the parents who are to blame for but the pace at which the society is moving today. I mean its like the old saying, today's bad-habit becomes tomorrow's culture! Considering the boom in technology, media and all other fields its quite difficult to stop or prevent children from being exposed to them. I believe its better to talk to the child about whats going on rather than letting him/her know from a non-reliable source. This way the parents can explain why certain things are bad and how they will affect the child in the future. Talking to children does have its merits as children are very curious at least from age 5-15 and absorb things pretty easily. Also it is better to let an individual use his/her own brains rather than following the silly trends of society or succumbing to peer-pressure. This again must be cultivated from a very young age. Reasoning should be used to discipline a child rather than orders. Parents should also not give-in to a child's irrational demand, specially to things he/she can do without. Again reason out why he/she can do without it and also let them know being flashy isn't the same as being cool.

Concepts of Beauty

1 year 3 weeks ago

"Well theres a saying, "Two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different." This is in relevance to perceived beauty by an individual. I do not think beauty has a form but it has essence. For ex: Consider a tree with leaves, no matter how badly the trunk is scared the tree still looks beautiful. Consider the same tree without its leaves, it doesn't look all that good anymore.
What I mean to say is that there are certain factors that make a particular object/person look beautiful, without the factor, the object/person loses their beauty. This factor varies from person to person. Also people have different perception of the factor. When a number of people agree upon a particular object/person to be beautiful each person would be looking at a particular factor. When people say flowers are beautiful, the might think so because of the color or the shape or of the way it forms bunches on a tree/plant. Its a similar thing with a beautiful person, some might like him/her for their hair-style, facial features, body or dressing sense. Also certain people may appreciate a combination of these factors.

Hence, I perceive beauty as a combination of smaller factors. When many such factors combine then true beauty is seen. Its like how beautiful you are is directly proportional to no. of factors you have. More the number of such factors more people or kinds of people tend to appreciate and hence the object/person is deemed beautiful."
