Not much 'discussion' going on in general discussion

"I've been staying in AP for a long time...and i notice most of the time, there are actually people spamming just to get the papers...such as posting unrelated replies etc.

i'm not saying that the general discussion's topic are not interesting enough...but i've found out that some of the topics here seems like the type of 'french fries of cheese sticks' kinda thing which is impossible for disscusion..
personally, i'll read through the replies roughly before i post any replies...
plus, i'll try answer the questions if there's any...:D
well...all i can say that we should try post some topics which are able to trigger discussion so that General Discussion will be alive.
that's my personal opinion...no offence.

English as second language

"English as a second language? well...it seems interesting to me...lol

anyway, i can say that my first language is actually English..and i pick up mandarin eventually whe i was in pre-school...

my english is not perfect...i still need to polish up my english since i'm majoring in it right now...taking 'Teaching English As A Second Language' seems like a burden for me because i have to teach english to sudents with different language proficeincy when i'm going out for my teaching pratical next sememster...gosh..i dunno what to expect out there...:D

well...all i can say that to learn a language successfully...first, you have to love the language..be motivated to learn it... but...i do admit that learning a few languages in a row will be a burden to us.
i've been juggling with 3 languages since i was in school (English, Chinese and Malay Language at the same time) and i understand that to master a second language...you really need to spend time on it...read more..and most important...love the language...:D

backdrop design...

"Ok...this is a picture of my prom night ( we call it as course night because only those who are taking this course are coming to the function)
anyway, i was selected by my friends to be in charge of the backdrop design.
this is my first time doing this kinda thing...and the big problem is...my art sucks!
but, i'm glad that it still looks ok...XD

Since i'm not good in art at all, i only manage to come up with this thing.
ok...this year the theme is about four seasons, so i've decided to combine the elements of four seasons in my design:
spring - sakura
summer - butterflies
fall - leaves
winter - snow
anyway, in this picture..i haven't scatter dry leaves on the stage.
it looks better with the leaves...but i don't have the photos...:(

you are most welcome to give comments on that thing...i don't mind...
anyway, if you have any picture of backdrop design, you are most welcome to share it here...:D
maybe i can learn something out of it...

What Is "Creativity"?

"To me creativity is like putting your ideas in order to come up with something new which othere have not been used before.
in other words, you can be creative by utilizing things around you in order to come up with a new one, design somethinig, invent somethin etc. which other people have not come across...XD
i believe that creativity of a person can be trained and we can't be creative over night. through practice, experience, experimentation and learning, you can be creative in a way somehow...:D

what will i be doing? Drinking alone in my room...maybe.
or i might hang out with my friends if i'm lucky, do something together to count down.
If not, i might stay in my hostel watching anime, playing games, listening to songs..and drink.

do u get enough sleep??

"People usually says that we'll do fine by having bout 8 hours of sleep...however, i don't think it is true for me. When i'm having classes...i think i only get round 7 hours of sleep a day. i sleep at 12 midnight and have to wake up at 7 a.m. if i have early class at 8 a.m. Usually..i need to sleep fot more than 8 hours to be fresh and alert in class. Things will become worse when i need to complete my assignments or when i'm having my final exam. i only sleep for 4 hours a day!
we can't pay up our sleeping debt no matter how long we sleep. I'm glad that i'm having my holidays now...i can sleep as much as i like...lol..but, i won't say that i'll ever get enough sleep in my life...XD"

Classic games............

"The classic games that i like is Mario Bros...as well as tetris...
my friends are still playing with it even though it is an old game and we never get bored of it.
i also agree that Sonic can be rather addicting...if i didn't lost the game...i'll be still playing with it.
Those games bring tons of nostalgic memories of my childhood.
and it is a classic game that people will still be playing in the future..i guess...XD"

Do you like spicy food?

"I'm a big fan of spicy food...XD
i know that most chinese can't stand it, but i've used to it since i was small.
i live in a country where you can find spicy food almost everywhere, noodles, curries, tom yam and etc...and basicly most of my friends can eat spicy stuff without any problems.
Anyway, i used to compete with my pals the amount of chilly we can eat with our curry noodles. It is very funny and we always do this back when i was in high school.
I read an article long time ago that spicy stuff like chilly is good for metabolism...i'm not so sure bout that...i just know that you can get upset stomach because of that once in a while...XD

Coffe

"I'm not a big fan of coffee and it is useless for me.
After drinking it, i don't even feel alert...i'm still very sleepy instead. I feel that the smell of coffee is too strong and i get dizzy easily because of that...:)
I do admit that some food with coffee flavour does smells great, such as moon cakes, cookies and the rest.
Plus, i only drink ice blended coffee once in a blue moon.

"Hey...it is not a stupid question since my lecturer had ask our class about it once.
to live your life to the fullest...u should enjoy every momment of it...no matter how bad or how good it is.
try to enjoy...do the things you like without regret about it later in your life...:)
in my opinion, you can start a hobby, set a new goal or do something you are dying to try for a long time ago to gain experience.
there are lots of way to live your life.
just enjoy the experience and build up lots of memories..that's all i can say..

Ever tried to learn to speak Japanese?

"I've took it for one year in university..and i've only tried to speak it in class and oral test.
if you are not using it..you'll feel that it is difficult to speak it.
now, i can read a lil japanese and my friends and i only use some japanese in our daily conversation.
If you want me to converse in japanese...well, i can't do it since i don't have enough vocabulary and i can't remember most of the sentence structure in japanese.

English Language

well...i don't quite hate the language since i am using it almost everyday.
back in my school days...i used to be one of the top scorers of this subject.
to learn English well..u have to be exposed to the language often..and the more effecitve way is to like the language.
u can watch movies,anime...with sub titles to improve it..or read books you like..be it manga or anything..
plus, you should have the courage to converse in that language without worrying of making any mistakes..:)
to tell the truth..my first language is English because i remember that i'm speaking it during my preschool days and all the kids dunno what i'm saying since their first language is mandarin...lol
just try to love the language...

About some great places to eat in penanag...i can say that there are tons of them coz everything there is nie.
U can check out gurney drive where there are hawker stalls...
or night market to get some local food there...
plus,there's a place call lorong selamat where there are chinese hawker stalls with its famous 'ais kacang with ice-cream' and 'fried kwey tiao'.

everything are delicious.
and since you are away from penang for a long time..you'll start complaining that food from other places are not as good as there.
Now, i'm stuck in a campus..in the middle of no where in JB. Thus, i miss the food a lot...and i'll gain weight everytime when i go home...XD
about Malaysia...u can visit lots of interesting places..and i would recomand the islands in sabah and sarawak which are not that polluted.
in the city..well..like what the others are saying..lousy road constructions, smelly drains..dirty public places...
but..it is still the place i live...XD

"Well...i think this country is fine..with all the different races living hormony together...
there are lots of reasons to like this placs..the food, the beaches, the island, the tropical jungle...and also the freedom you can have compare to other countries..XD
plus, i also like the weather.but, sometimes it can tend to be too hot and you might hate the rainy days...
i may hate this place sometimes for different reasons ( personal reasons when i'm insane...)
but...i like this place as it is...since i'm a Malaysian...lol

Fund Raising...

"Well..it has been a long time ago since i posted stuff here to seek advice from you guys...XD

anyway, now, my course is raising fund to organize our course night next year...and they ahve been thinking of a lot of ideas to generate money.
at first, they plan to sell flowers during convocation and moon cake for the mid autumn festival..
but, in my opinion, those things won't work because there are tons of people doing it and you may end up in a great compatition where the sales won't be good...

i've been thinking about selling t-shirts...but, dunno if it will works around campus.
car wash, selling festive cards,valentine and christmas dedication...asking for sponsors...that's what we can think of...

well, hope that you guys can give me some ideas...coz i don't wanna end up paying more to cover the costs later ( hate to be one of the committe...:faint:)
