Family Guy and simpsons are anime?? whaaaaa?

would you guys consider afro samurai and the boondocks to be anime? they're american shows but gonzo and madhouse studies help work on them respectively. the drawing style has a lot of anime elements but they are also "made for american audiences." "

What makes anime so different?

"No offence but this is kind of a played topic... i mean not that this exact thread has been made before but there's like 100 other threads comparing anime and americacn cartoons. they usually bash american cartoons and givethe sorts of reasons you're askin for.

things i particularly like about anime:

-more mature themes/complicated themes than are found in normal cartoons
-sometimes better and more fluid art work
-eastern philosophy
-more balanced view of good/evil, better character development than most cartoons
-the fact they have a proper beginning and end!
-blood and sex
-focus on attractiveness of women

but to be fair there's a lot of things lacking in anime:

-they do not focus on enough topics and a lot of topics and a lot of topics more applicable to western audiences (eg racism) are not covered well
-usually apolitical (not that this is always bad but once in a while you'd like them to stop being shy about this)
-often overcomplicate things
-not as funny to american sense of humor, a lot of obvious gags
-setting very limited to japan/doesn't even try to be as world centric as some american programs
-way too many series are similiar. even the good series tend to focus around the same sort of settings. eg. kids in a school, mecchas... i just feel that they could really do so much more even within these very specified genres like harem anime etc but i never see it getting made. "

"This album sucks, game is a horrible rapper and the title track, "doctor's advocate" is one of the gayest and most disturbing songs of all time.

i think there are over 130 name drops on this album. i believe 12 out of the 16 tracks mention dr. dre's name. any track that doesn't reference dre probably mentions jay-z or snoop.

the one blood remix with like 40 people on it also sucks.

i do not recommend this album. "

"I like to see anime use some different music. aside from opening and closing themes i just hate it when they use the same stock music... especially stuff like 'funny' music in comedy shows etc. i just like something kind of original... like in noir

more anime should use hip hop and trip hop. i think they are really good for ambience especially in more modern-type shows or action shows. action shows need to be more drum heavy in general. "
