ok. that done with, now on to the critic XD:

like angel-voice said, the background is too simple. I'd definately try some grudgy pattern in the background. With this image, it'd be awesome if you build on your existing idea (the bursting light sort of thing). Instead of just white balls, why not try to make them flames? Build on the flame on his forehead: his flame bursting out as he is about to attack. Make the wallpaper burn~~~~~

Additionally, I'd remove the logo.

Now, go improve this wallpaper as if you are to die! *burns up*"

My advice on an Asian theme (actually, from what you said, you're only into jap culture =__=): please don't use random kanjis on your wall. I just hate it when people use random words (usually with default font too) without even knowing what they really mean."

"That is not bad for a first attempt. However, with such a overwhelming bright background, your scan appears pale and colourless in contrast. I'd definately adjust the colours of your scan (and tone down that eyeblinding bright coloured background too...)

The snowflakes would work better if you used different sizes and patterns (instead of just the same patterned snowflake scattering around)."

"I'm not sure if a border is appropriate with what you seem to be aiming for.
The first thing I'll advise is change of font. I really don't like it, and the bright red outline around the text don't really match with the washed out colours (this is the same with the blood stains in the background). I'd either adjust the colours of the picture to make (like what the others said) it a really dark goth looking wall (that would work with the blood stains), or tone down that red."

"Basically, the scan is not high enough resolution (the background, on contrast, appears very sharp). applying the median filter won't make up for it, so I'll advise finding a higher resolution wallpaper (else, make one of a smaller size?).

Secondly, although the background is suitable, at the moment all the gundam just seem to be 'stuck' on. What's closest to the viewer should be sharp, while the crafts in the distance should appear less sharp.

"Well, the rumour is that season 2 starts 1 year after how season 1 left off. There will be a number of new characters, and one of them (I'm assuming that guy from the ad) is going to be pretending to be Lulu/Zero (?) while the real Lulu goes into hiding (there's also the rumour that Lulu grew his hair o_O). The story moves to a world stage, and Suzaku (in that awful new outfit =_=lll) becomes a direct knight under the emperor.

These rumours are from a forum so I don't know how accurate they are, but... well... I dunno, I'm not too excited from what I'm reading o_O"

"I often just zoom in +++ and erase it bit by bit. Another method you can try is entering quick mask (the button under where you choose your colours, just in case you don't know) and then select the bits you want to cut out. The making new layer and move it behind the layer you're working with is a great idea too, although I wouldn't use neon-bright color because it might kill your eyes XD.

"This is a great effort for a first wall.
Some comment:
1. the scan is a little too blurry, and I can still some jagged edges (particularly on the left). Take not that the logo also needs better extracting (I can see white unclean bits)
2. the idea is not bad, but there are way too many feathers.
3. This is personal, but I don't really like the font used.

Keep working on it =D I really like this picture of Hughes ^^"

"Personally I like the first or last one (don't like the one in the middle). But I don't know, there is something lacking in the wall.. I want the images of the characters themselves bigger, and maybe the text not as 'in your face' (especially for L). The random black spots also don't work too well for me... o.O That said it still looks like you spent a lot of time one it, so I can only suggest you to keep doing so ^^"

"For a first attempt it's not bad at all, but for it to meet the standard here, a lot of work will have to be done. The idea in itself is not bad at all- problem is, like Crackhead pointed out, the image qualities are bad. So if you want to use them, I'd fix up the scans. I also have a problem with the 'text everywhere', I'd leave the side texts out altogether. Additionally maybe try having a more layered/patterend background, because that gray looks way too dull. I think neon colours can work well though, if done properly."

"Hmm... you really need to do better extracting because all the artifact edges of the images can be clearly seen. I also don't really like the 'frame' layout and the text, so I'd leave that out. The idea and combination of pic seem ok atm, but I'd also suggest adjusting their colours/brightness etc to make them match each other better (if that makes sense). Keep working on it ^^"

"The guidelines states that you must add your 'signature' somewhere (just so to mark it as your own work) did you vector the image? if you did it's quite an awesome piece of vector ^o^ As a wallpaper it is kinda too simple though, some background would be nice. The re-vector logo would look nicer if it's placed lower, I think. (that would depend on what bg you choose for it, though, I guess)"

I think putting in a beautiful moon would really add to it. To suit what is saying in the text, maybe it doesn't need to be as glowy as usual, but at the moment it's very flat and it at least needs more shape and details to make it look like a moon. I think you can have a lot of fun experimenting! =D I would also move the text somewhere else (lower?), and probably remove the logo to avoid clash of style (either that, or remove your own text: it doesn't really need both).

Like I said there's a good start here and I hope you keep going with it ^^"

"First of all I want to say this is a very good attempt at a first wall! There is a high standard here so don't be discouraged~ it's all part of developing skills and such =D

besides what has already been commented (jagged edges and such), I personally have a problem with the default font you're using for kanji characters (it's like using Times New Roman for english text on a wall) and it really doesn't suit the look you're going for. It's also kinda 'in your face' and taking attention away from the characters. Another note is that outer glow isn't tolerated very well here, so I'd suggest avoiding that use."

"The sky with its many layer of texturing do look very fine. I'm not so sure about the position of the text with the skyline though, maybe it's the two high rises in the middle, kinda sticking up at the text...? But it's a good font and suits it nicely. I'd also try zazou's idea of adjusting haruhi's colour."
