Cowboy Bebop: Possibly the Saddest Anime Ending Ever?

2 months 1 week ago

"Bebop's end was pretty sad, but far from the saddest in anime. Grave Of The Fireflies has already been mentioned, but Barefoot Gen was pretty sad all the way through, despite Gen's sunny outlook.

Also the ending of Bebop was predictable from episode one, so you expected it to happen, which makes it a bit less sad. "

Time travelling

2 months 1 week ago

"Traveling backwards through time is impossible, because anything you actually do in the past will change the future. Even if you step on a plant - well that plant could have been the ancestor of the potato or of foxglove. Or it might have been the spot where the first locust was born. A little thing changed but that little thing has a big impact into the future.

Looking back in time is also dangerous. Already there are too many wars and conflicts because 50 years ago this people invaded this country or 1000 years ago this religion split into two other religions. It's better to look forward and live in the present."

Are old games harder than younger ones?oO

2 months 1 week ago

"I think it would depend on the game, but yeah, I think that a lot of older games are harder then what we have today. I have never been able to get the hang of pac-man, and that's a pretty old game. Q-Bert is also fairly hard and I still haven't gotten any where in the orginal Myst game, even with walk throughs!"

That's how the series ended? Did I miss something?

2 months 2 weeks ago

"The second Cowboy Bebop manga ends rather abruptly. The first one was probably killed because it was crap, but it was just stand alone stories. The second one was actually OK if you keep the TV series out of your mind while reading it. It was just getting somewhere with it's plot line and then it died. Even the film-manga version of Bebop was cut off after one chapter but that was Bandai''s fault for using screen caps from an old VHS tape and terrible hacks to write the sound effects."

Grand Theft Auto 4

2 months 2 weeks ago

"Sadly, even though I love GTA, I'm going to be waiting quite a while before I get this one. I don't have any consoles, so I have to wait for it to come out on PC. And then I will need to get a PC that can handle the game. I hear the multi-player is fantastic and I really want to check it out.

I also wish that there was less emphasis on the story, and more of a free form progression to the game. I would rather just work my way up the crime ladder on my own, and choose my own allies, than have the game force them on me. "

Anime fans 18+, do you hang out with other Otaku?

2 months 2 weeks ago

"I'm an older anime fan, but I generally don't socialize with other anime fans except for conventions. Even then, the teens that seem to make up most of the fandom these days are generally interested in anime that I'm not, and a lot of them seem to be there mostly to dress up and hang out, rather than to have any serious discussion. I know a lot of people at my work watch anime, but none of them are big otaku.

I don't really mind all that much, because I can go on the internet and chat on forums etc..."

Which Career Path would you Follow?

2 months 2 weeks ago

"I think you should defiantly choose something you enjoy. In most types of work, if you are good at what you do and you work hard, you can get to a point where you can make money too.

And just choosing a profession which is usually high paid isn't always the path too riches anyway. A lawyer who looses all the time or a doctor who forgets things inside people during surgeries is not someone who will be employed too long, much less make lots of cash."

Do you listen and trust in your parents?

2 months 2 weeks ago

"I trust them on some things, where I know they have experience or wisdom. But not in everything. My dad is always complaining that I leave my money in the bank rather than invest it. But he keeps loosing money on the stock market, so I ignore his advice there. I also tend to ignore anything my parents say on race or religion, since they are very old fashioned and conservative."

How does you family feel about Anime?

2 months 2 weeks ago

"I'm the only person in my family that's really interested in Anime, but my mother does occasionally watch it. She generally prefers movies, like Ghibli stuff and comedies. I don't think she's seen a full series, but she has seen parts of GITS SAC, Lupin i, City Hunter and Cowboy Bebop. And she is one of those dub only people!

My niece and nephew still haven't gotten into anime, but they like Power Rangers, so that's a start!"

Is Bleach back on fillers??

11 months 4 weeks ago

"Well, next week they are not showing bleach, and the week after that (8/8) they are going to have an episode with arancar in it. So maybe 135 was the last filler, at least for a while.

I honestly don't know what they are going to do when this whole Aizen/Arancar arc is over. Is it going to be like dragon ball were they go for years just ramping up their powers and fighting bigger fights?

Tokyopop, Viz, or DelRey?

1 year 3 months ago

"Most of my favorite manga comes from Viz, so I would have to say they are my favorite. I have a few Tokyo Pop manga too, but none of the series that I am currently collecting are from them, except GTO, and I'm stalled on that one.

Dark Horse Comics flips virtually everthing they have, which sucks, and I hate them because they still haven't released Ghost In The Shell 1.5 in tankoubon form yet (BASTARDS!). Vertical also flips everything, but they put out some excellent titles.

ADV Manga has some good titles, but they NEVER finish anything, except Cromartie High. Why oh why can't they just sell off Gunslinger Girl so somebody can finish it?!

Del Rey mostly has nothing that interests me, but I love Genshiken and Mushishi. I also might get Pumpkin Scissors when it comes out.

DMP has Trigun & Berserk.

CMX doesn't have anything I like, and I have only a few books from CPM. Most of the rest of the companies I have nothing from.

RIP: Raijin Comics"

Just got bleach vol. 1

1 year 3 months ago

"I started watching the Bleach anime first, and it's great. But it's so long and has some much filler that I won't buy it on DVD. So I am paying for my sins (watching it on YouTube) by buying the manga instead. I was very disappointed that the so called "professional" translators at Viz still called the bird a parakeet, even though it is so obviously not one."

What if anime characters started acting in multiple shows/movies?

1 year 3 months ago

"Osamu Tezuka re-used characters and character designs in his works. In Pheonix, Saruta just keeps comming back as a different character in many different stories. The Uncle from Metropolis is practically the same character as the teacher from Astro Boy. He also wrote a manga story that had many of his charcters playing different parts. Astro Boy was in it, but he wasn't Astro Boy. I think Black Jack was also in it too."

Why do people just have to tell evryone that they hate dubs?

1 year 5 months ago

"
Jackesio

dubs most of the time what they said is not exactly what in japanese means. It also change the meaning of what they want to say. The fact that those things happened is because the people that translate that must fit the movements of the mouth and therefore the meaning may change in most of the scenes.

But a lot of times the subs are just the dub script written out, so you are still getting the same thing. And the subs are often edited so they can be read as quick as possible.

Also, there have been many cases where the subs have mistakes too. Look at ADV's City Hunter. They call Ryo's gun the "Bison" even though you can cleary read "Python" on the side of the gun (it's also a famous american gun, too!).

And then there's that retarded Bleach fansubber who learned how to translate from the same crappy mail-order school as the Viz people. It's not a parakeet. Parakeets are not that big, they don't have crests, and they usually don't come in white with rosy cheeks. It's a cockatiel, which ALWAYS has a crest, almost always has a cheek patch, are fairly common in white/light yellow and are members of the COCKATOO family. I bet if it had been a chicken they would have called it a duck.

Unless you know Japanese and live in Japan, you'll never get the "true" meaning of the dialog. So stop beaching about subs being better than dubs because of translating."

Should Manga Created Outside Japan Be Called Manga?

1 year 5 months ago

"Manga in English means comics made by Japanese, end of story. It doesn't mean that it's superior to comics from other countries, or that it follows a particular genre, type or drawing style.

To call a comic made in the US or in Germany or whatever is ridiculous, and deceitful. "

Can there be a Succesful American Anime?

1 year 5 months ago

"Anime is animaton created by Japanese in Japanese for the Japanese people. So no, America will never produce anime, unless Japan takes the US over.

Will the americans every make anything as good as anime? Well, if you only look at family programs, comedy or childrens programs, then they already have.

Will the US every make animation for older teens/adults, or in genres like drama, romance,or anything with serious topics like war? No, they probably won't anytime soon. Most people there still think the reason why people watch anime is because of big eyes and funky hair. The general public also still thinks cartoons are only meant for kids or for comedy. Anything like Ghost in the Shell or Grave of the fire flies would be made as a live action film, not animated, and they would be forced to have happy endings too.

It's not the sort of program you're going to stumble upon by accident, then deliberately screw stuff up with in any significant way.

Hahahaha. People mess up there computers like this all the time. I knew a guy who got really drunk, then played around with his computer. In the morning he could boot it, and ended up having to do a clean install and loose everything. That was XP.

In vista I think it would be even easier to do, because if you just type in are in the start search, regedit will show up in the list. Stupid people seem to be drawn to clicking on things they shouldn't..."
