Yea. Was going to use this as part of a wallpaper, but I can safely say that I'm out of ideas :D

Either way, was planning to submit this as a scan, but I'm not sure if it's good enough and if there are any places that I should touch up...

"So... It's not really a wallpaper, but in my opinion, it would fit better here than in the artist's alley (seeing as it is geared a lot more towards original works and the like).

But yea, as my profile states, I've been trying to learn illustrator and vector something.
I finished about a week ago (after at least 20 some hours clocked >_>) and have been staring at it trying to figure out what to do for just as long, if not longer.

So I'm coming to you guys to help me brainstorm what background (if any, but I don't really feel like putting a vector-esque bg like all my other wps) to place and what effects to use :P

Either way, let the solicitation begin :D

[Yes yes, I know I use VLC for snapshots, but thats only because my normal player for some reason fails to take snappies of .mkv files]

But main problem I've found is that I have NO idea how to vector a background like that, so I've been left with a semi-decent vector (in my opinion, for a first fully finished one <_<) and nothing to use it with.

Virtuoso?

"Kay guys, got overly excited after seeing the stock... *I'll find the link to it later <_< I'm lazy* of Kotomi.

And yes, I am aware of the irony in calling her a virtuoso, but it just fit, so meh :D

Either way, I'm guessing that it's pretty obvious what I was going for in this... (they're really, really bright coloured so it's a bit hard not to notice)



Main things I feel need a lot of work:
1) Negative space (as always)
2) Text (I tried to put less this time... I really did >_>) [You guys have no idea how much more I wanted to put]
3) I tried to vector Kotomi... needless to say, I failed miserably and gave up halfway through :D So if anyone has any pointers as to vectoring and the like (in case I ever feel like making another wallpaper like this), please tell me.
4) Colour choice: not sure this time, most of the other times I photoshop, I'm content with my swatches, but this time, I actually used vibrant colours, so I'm not exactly sure.
5) Some of the edges, when I extracted the character, got a bit messed up, any good way to fix it without going back to the stock? >_>

Yea... I think that's all the main things.

Either way, time spent was about 10-12 hours, not really sure. I've been working for at least 6 hours today. Not sure how long exactly though. Extracting her took a long long time v_v (SO MUCH HAIR GARRR). Wasted another hour or so trying to vector (yea...). And those stupid curves took so long to get to a decent shape (I hate you pen tool...). And 100+ layers (A lot of it is random really faint details that are basically impossible to notice unless... nevermind, they're just impossible to notice :P)

Either way, yea, as I (think) I said in the first post, I felt that there might have been a little too much in the background (lack of minimalism :P). But yea, seems like there are a whole bunch of rules/guidelines for art that I have no clue about.

Yea, a lot of the people I asked for c/c before coming here commented on the typo/text (though most just related to the content rather than the actual combination with the sig :P)
But then again, my stubbornness prevented me from taking out those lines, because this design was based around those lines (rather than the stock itself. Yea, I'm weird like that).
Either way, it's pretty late, I'll probably make another version with toned down text or more fitting fonts later :P
PS: Do you have any ideas of which ones would be better to take out/change? Other than what was stated in your post of course :P (because I realize that there are alot)

math=hard or easy??

"Biggest thing about math I have to say is that, not that it's particularly challenging or anything (or vice versa, not that it's particularly easy), it is going to be there. Now, I'm not going to go to the distance of saying that it will suffuse every single piece of daily life that you partake in, but it undoubtedly has an extremely large influence on how the world is run in general. It may not particularly affect your life on a noticeable level, but it affects so many things through degrees of freedom and things like that, and thus it will always be a part of your world.

Other than that, I don't particularly like it, but in certain ways I like it because there (at least in the academic math that I've partaken in) is always a clear cut answer that is attainable if one just tries hard enough and thinks long enough. But in other ways, I hate it to the very depth of my soul for the exact same reasoning: that there is always a set answer, and that I am not allowed to develop my own logic and my own reasoning to define a (in my personal mental state) better answer, which is always a more invigorating pasttime.

Either way, I fear that I am rambling on and on about completely irrelevant topics, so I'll end it here :P

Got bored, opened photoshop, started doing random stuff and got an idea, led to a wallpaper-esque... thing.

Personally, I'm finding a lot of things wrong with it, mostly because I was kinda-ish going for a simplistic (minimalistic for you diction peoples out there) look, but obviously, I've failed miserably :P

Yea... on my pb you can find the other ones that are saved as .png (just because I like it better, despite its hugemongous size), and those ones say arkay as the creator, instead of rubykirby, simply because I normally have that as my username, but apparently it's been taken... >_> (sound it out, ar-kay (r-k), and shorten my name to just the first letters of both seperate words (ruby kirby -> r-k) :P Yea... story of my life.)

Either way (wow, I use that phrase alot), I don't know exactly how I should be doing this, but hope this meets your guys' standards.
