"As a super long term fan who have watched the original TV series when she was like, 10 (by the way, it was such a shock to my 10-year-old self =_=), I naturally know the story by heart. I think the offical manga by the TV series' character designer has made some nice changes to the storyline, and I'm hoping the remake will be the same. I think the first one is pretty well done, especially on visual effects...but then again, nothing else was changed regarding the story.I'm really looking forward to how the makers are going to "update" their much loved and debated series into the more modern thinking--that is the reason for (they claimed) remaking it anyway. I personally hated the way Kaoru ended up in the TV series (cause he's my favourite, favourite character...oh how I CRIED), so I hope they DO change that. I also think the TV ending is profound and deep, but lacking in satisfaction (yes, including "The End of Evangelion" ending). So I was glad when I heard they are going to change the storyline and possibly the ending too.
Anyway, when the DVD is out, I'm going to buy it. I can't wait to see how the new character can affect the story. Oh by the way, Shinji is more like a whimp than a hero most of the time, and I frankly can't like him, until the end...when he finally breaks out of his shell a little. I really hated Asuka in the series (probably b/c I like Rei more), so I hope she is less annoying this time. "

"I can understand your grief, yamiyume-san. I too thought the skipping on details of Madam red to be incredibly diappointing and uncalled for. I mean, come ON, she's such a deep character that the animators can totally elaborate on, and she's voiced by PAKU ROMI!! HOw COULD they squeeze her into TWO episodes only?! The part about her past is such an important element in both her character development and our understanding of Ciel's current...uh, temper.
That said, I understand that the animators probably want Grell to appear more before he...erm...you know, "explode," that's why they put him in Elizabeth's dance party. That rearrangement I can accept. But NOT MADAM RED'S! OH how could they skip such beautiful lines from her?!
As for fillers, I have a hate for fillers in general, but this one is ok. Yes, maybe it is a bit early, but (the following are fillers for those who have read up to at least vol.4 of the manga!)
if they don't use fillers at this point, they would have used up the original story too quickly, and will have to end Kuroshitsuji in 12 episodes. If it's a choice b/t 12 episodes with pure original material and 24-26 episodes with fillers+high poppularity, I choose the 26+ episodes...b/c I can ignore the fillers if I want to. And let's be fair: there had only been 2 so far, and they're not that bad--at least they keep the character personalities and the general mood consistant.
I am actually more upset about some of the horrible drawings of Sebatian in various scenes. Argh, he is so beautiful in every single angle in the manga...now as I watch the anime episodes, I can't stand the ugly face of his in the second one of the two "intermission" still pics. AWFUL, awful drawing of his eyes...

"Ahhh yes Sebastian is sexy XD That's why I claimed him wayyyy before the anime was even planned...Actually there was already a drama CD of the original manga, released quite some time ago. It follows the story in volume 1. I think I've uploaded it a while ago, but the link has probably died. Anyway, the seiyuu for the drama CD is different from the anime's (except for Lau), but frankly I think Morikawa is better at Sebastian than Ouno...not that I don't like Ouno's interpretation, but Morikawa's tone has more...class, I guess. This drama CD also comes with a postcard of a very pretty Ciel
Other than the drama CD to be released on the 26th, a character song single of Sebastian is also coming out on Christmas Eve--as the perfect Christmas gift, of course. You can see the details on Kuroshitsuji's official anime site.
By the way, just to clarify, Ciel IS NOT the protagonist, Sebastian is. While some have claimed that Ciel=master=protagonist, Toboso Yana (the original creator) has said explicitly in her blog that Ciel is just a very eye-catching support character. After all, this series is called "Black Butler" for a reason..."

"Well i've watched episode 6, and the trailer for ep.7 is an original story! Which means Kuroshitsuji will definitely be longer than 13 episodes...phew. Normally I really, really dispise fillers, but for this one I'm almost glad...b/c the original story's plot is so tight that it leaves little room for extra development.SPOILERS FOLLOWED:

Need I say more? Heehee...I shall leave the judgement to you. 5 volumes are already out in Japanese (and Chinese...fast to translate as usual). Meanwhile, I know some chapters are scanlated in English already (check baka-updates). It is very popular in Japan right now, and woefully not many people know about it outside...trust me, if you're not drawn by the beautiful style, you would be drawn by the story ^_^
And now, of course, the anime is OUT!

And that would also means that Eriol is dead *gasp*I don't see how Syaoran (the son) is closer to Watanuki than anybody does if Watanuki is just a reincarnation of Eriol. I mean, ok, Li Syaoran is from Clow's mother's side's family and Sakura is half of Clow's daughter, but that's it. They will have to share the same soul at the very least to make Yuuko says they're closer than anybody else. "

"Incest...lol... if you HAVE to think about it that way, then I guess yeah, CCS' Syaoran's son is in love with his mother's younger alternate self -_- but you know what, I think that doesn't really matter at all. First of all, TSUBASA's Syaoran real name IS NOT "Syaoran" because he is only CCS' Syaoran+Sakura's son. Secondly, TSUBASA's Sakura is, at the most, CCS' Sakura's alternate soul. They are NOT related in blood. Am I the only one who thinks "awww~every Syaoran has a Sakura, how cute~" right away instead of worrying about incest??And yes I know I'm a bit slow, but hey! We now know that the CCS pair DID live happily ever after, even gotten married and have a kid! How nice! I do feel bad for them though, sending their son away when he's only 6/7 years old to fulfill his destiny >_< Also, if Sakura pays Yuuko with her wand, can she still use her Sakura Cards? That question is haunting me more than TSUBASA's main story right now
Of course, I agree with eddokun, the most important question right now is WHAT ON EARTH ARE NADESHIKO AND FUJITAKA DOING THERE?! From Syaoran's words, we could guess that Sakura-hime might have been copied and possibly been replaced by her copy-self at a very early stage; if that is so, does Clow Reed being the king has anything to do with it? IS the Clow Reed in Kuro-country THE Clow Reed in CCS?
And I'm starting to think that Watanuki is either Clow Reed's son or Eriol's son -_- or else he couldn't possibly be that "tasty" to ayakashi.
So many burning questions, and so little answers...well, at least I know the CCS pair got married, awwww~how cute."

"Eyes...rather than a fetish, I think they simply see the eyes as the symbol of a self changing. They love the idea of doubleness, or multiple selves: there was X, and now TSUBASA. So I guess the changing of the eyes' condition is for them symbolizing their characters' radical change. Look at Fye, Syaoran, Watanuki+Doumeki...all of them changed completely after something happened to their eyes. Fye is no longer fooling himself (with the help of Kuro-sama, of course), Syaoran (both) either lost himself or found himself again, Watanuki no longer thinks sacrificing himself blindly for others is good, and Doumeki...well, he chose to relate himself to Watanuki and everything about him (including Yuuko-san's shop, in which he couldn't enter at first).Although sometimes I think they change the eye colour just to make their fans squeal XD"

"LOL XD I have to admit, while Kuroshitsuji is definitely NOT shounen-ai/yaoi originally, its setting can inspire many, many yaoi things...even in the Kuroshitsuji LJ community, there are some of those doujins posted. I'm not a big fan of doujins myself (can't stand to see the original art being distorted), so I don't really like the Kuroshitsuji doujins...and well, seriously, I don't like shota, so while Sebastian x Ciel might may hot, I still prefer to see them as purely a pair with a very strong tie between them (as much "loyalty" as "akuma" can feel, I guess)."View

"Believe me, I know how you feel. There are still so many questions unanswered or unclear that it makes understanding rather difficult, even for a fan who reads every single chapter closely like me. But I guess that is what makes CLAMP's stuff interesting--they keep you waiting, and waiting, and pondering, then exploding the bomb on you with their answers. Remember the heartache of TOKYO arc? Remember Infinity? Horrible bombs those were >_<I want to talk more about the OVA3 since my copy has arrived (YAY~~). Of course I've watched the fansubs long ago, but it's just different when you watch the original on TV XD too bad I'm out of time...so I'll leave that for later.
Meanwhile, let's all lament on Fye's "Ohaiyou, KUROGANE"

"Ok, since it has been days since the OVA came out, I assume people have seen it...so I'll skip the spoiler tag :P
I know! WHAT is Kinomoto Sakura doing there?! And how can Sakura-hime not recognize herself (well, the one who share the same soul as her)?! Still, I don't think the real Syaoran is CCS' Syaoran...b/c it wouldn't make any sense. I went back to check the ending of CCS, Syaoran mentions, with a serious face, that there is something he has to take care of in HK before he can stay in the city Sakura lives in. At the very end he comes back and says the "business" is taken care of. That Syaoran is definitely younger than the Syaoran in TSUBASA. So if they live happily ever after, how can Syaoran got captured since he was a kid and (assuming TSUBASA's story ends happily with Syaoran alive at least) goes back to live with Kinomoto Sakura as a younger self than the older self he becomes in TSUBASA?
I now think the TSUBASA Syaoran is one that we haven't met before, precisely because Ookawa Akeha inserts Kinomoto Sakura's soul (she is a ghost, I think) into Tokyo, based on the reasoning above. Though it puzzles me why she felt the need to make such a change..."

"Well, I had intended to spread the love of Black Butler when I started this topic ^^;;My drama CD finally arrived~though it is really expensive, I think it's worth it--the "booklet" opens like a letter, with a fake seal (sticker XD), and the contents are just beautiful...everything is made of supremely good quality paper. Being the only sound related thing of Kuroshitsuji around, how can I not love it? XD
I do have scans of the booklet (not scanned by me), I can post them up when I have more time ^^;;

"Hmmm...I also think judging a manga by how much time you need to read it is a bit unfair. First of all, the type of the manga will inherently determine how much time is needed. For example, a shounen manga usually takes less time to read b/c of the action and relatively less text (with Death Note being the notable exception, but really, I don't consider DN traditional shounen anyway), and contrararily a shoujou manga will take more b/c it usually demands the reader to read closely at...well, everything, and also to think about it more.Now TSUBASA is supposedly shounen, but since it is CLAMP's work we are talking about here, it can't be. It is, for me at least, a shoujou manga drawn in a shounen style and pace, being one of CLAMP's experiments. So even though it reads like shounen and thus may be less demanding than other CLAMP's works, it still demands more attention to be paid to the details (characters' expressions, what their ambiguous words mean, etc.).
As for the story...well, before the big turning point in Tokyo arc, I didn't really get into it too much, since the story reads too much like a money-grabber-type. I only kept reading because of Fye. Now, however, I'm glad to see that the story is improving, so I will consider it a good manga...though it may not be as deep as other good ones.
And by the way, don't even talk about the TSUBASA tv anime =_= it is SO BAD I would stop watching--if not for the voice for Fye, which is very well done. "

"Actually, I can't determine whether Kuroshitsuji is shounen or not. I mean, it's definitely not shoujou because of all the bloody fighting, but it is too mild for shounen (and please, the drawing is SO MUCH BETTER than normal shounen manga, even monthly ones). It is also definitely aiming at female readers, probably high school-older teens. The magazine it's on (G Fantasy) is fairly vague as well...kind of in the middle of shoujou and shounen ^^;;I only realize that Zombie Loan was serialized on the same magazine after knowing about Kuroshitsuji XD it would be really nice indeed if Kuroshitsuji is also being made into an anime *cross fingers* I mean, it would be so great to see the beautiful details in colour!
Oh by the way, there is a drama CD out for Kuroshitsuji ^^ I've downloaded it, and then ordered it, but it hasn't arrived yet...but from what I've heard the voices are GORGEOUS, especially Ciel's...very fitting ^^

"As I said, I know two chapters in volume 1 are translated (admittedly not perfect, but the meanings are clear enough ^^;;). Baka-updates has it, just search "kuroshitsuji". Also, there is a LJ group that has the raw scans for the newer chapters...Haha, you'd think it is BL XD but I assure you, it really ISN'T (somehow I wish it is, the setting is so tempting XD). I've read up to the chapter out this month, and there isn't even implication. Let's just say, if you want to think in the BL mode, you'll find places where you can squeal
The drawing is very detailed and beautiful--you can tell the author did a lot of research. From the background to the little accessaries on the characters' clothes, all are carefully drawn. The story is also deeper than it first appeared...at least, from the 3 volumes that are out, I expect it to be more than just a fan-service type. "

"Actually the author did say that she (yes, it IS a she) shared the intended ending of the manga with the anime producers, so I'm guessing that the anime producers didn't want to spoil that, so they made up a different branch...which is equally good, as it is one the VERY RARE occasions when I don't complain about fillers. At least they made those fillers into meaningful arcs that can incorporate into the main, manga storyline, which is quite an accomplishment...
SPOILERS BELOW ABOUT ch.80-81:
As for the latest chapter of the manga (ch.81, not 80, is coming out this month)...I hope she would tell us what happened to Ed already, it has been 2-3 months since he was fatally injured!"
