"I would have to agree that the character might need to stand out just a bit more. I like how the text blends in though. The reflection of the character seems odd to me though. I think it is because she is so red but the reflection is more grey-scale. The moon looks great. It almost looks like it has a big scary face smiling at you. The tree is very 'Burton'esque which adds to the dark feel. I'm sorry I can't help you with where the character is from. My only question for you my dear is, what is redL?"

"Bring the reflection up or the objects down so that they touch. As it is now they appear to be just barely floating. Also, her shoe is being cut off strangely. I would suggest drawing in the rest of the shoe. Lastly, the letters have some aliasing going on, smooth those out a bit. I would say it's good to go after that. I like it too =)"

"I have to agree, you have a great vector here. My background idea came almost instantaneously upon looking at the vector. He's a little devil kitty so how funny would it be if here were standing upon a pile of "dead" toy mice. Just a funny idea I had and thought to share =)."

"Ok I'm home from work now, did some cleaning and now I'm back. The smoothing looks great, the color looks great. There's one more piece of hair that's a little jaggy, the top piece on the right. Try extending the shadow on the top of the desk you made so that the hair is casting it too. I didn't notice it until Asa pointed it out that the window is being lit from the front center. And there I was "bla bla lighting this" and " yadda yadda lighting that". Maybe a little fix for the lighting might be shading the back wall with a gradiant that is lighter on the right gets darker as it goes left then a little lighter as it gets closer to the window. You could even put a little shine on the painting/picture on the wall hinting at a light source that is off screen. ;)"

"Well you could shift the painting over just a bit and throw one of these

up on the wall. Of course yours will have to be a lot better than my 2 minute quickie. Ha ha ha =). But that will change the lighting in your room a bit too so you will need to create a new layer on top and create some gradiants at low opacity or change the current color fills. Also, go ahead and get rid of the character's drop shadow and paint one in since the only shadow she'll be casting is on the desk. Salutations my dear."

"Did you have to shrink the character down from a big scan? I see some aliasing (jagged edges) on the hair over her forehead which isn't a problem with the extraction but the resizing of the image? I'm not sure of a quick way to smooth those out other than zooming way in and fixing it by hand pixel by pixel with a small brush, sorry =(. I think the edges that Bwilhem is talking about might acutally be a lighting problem. If you look at the character, she is being lit from the right side. This throws the lighting off because the window is on the left side. Could you put the window on the right side of the character or flip the character? You might also want to darken her a little or lighten up the room to match eachother. As a personal suggestion I'd like to see some perspective on the desk to give the room some more depth. I hope this helps and I didn't just talk your ears off."

"The extraction on the cards looks decent. The area that could use improvement is the background:
1. Solid black never makes for a good background unless there is a specific style you are mimicking.
2. The extraction on the FSN logo needs to be cleaned up so that it doesn't look so aliased. The bottom left looks like there was some white text or something that you need to paint in red to match the logo.
3. The text font is too "boring" for as large as it is. Spend some time at dafonts.com and find a more interesting font for your text.
4. The symbol in the back is also too aliased and needs a better extraction like the logo. Being simple lines, you may even want to vector it.

For submission to AP you would also need to place your signature at the bottom of the wall. Good luck and I look forward to your next version."

"I would have to agree with clarings. The grainyness of the character contrasts too much with the clean vector background. The background also needs a bit more to spice it up. Also try out her suggestions about the changing the shade of the shapes, it will fill out the wall more so that it doesn't feel so empty. All the objects in the wall are very blocky and hard edged, except for the In the Sky title. I would actually suggest changing the objects and making them more curved and flowing like the text. It would give them the appearance of being the "air" that is pushing him up."

"Maybe 2 days ago I submitted a Berserk wall. I've kept an eye on the main page but never saw it there, but was never fined or received a rejection message. Today I was looking at my profile page and noticed that it said I had 3 submitted wallpapers. When I go to View My Wallpapers it only shows 2 though. The wallpaper also doesn't show up in the Berserk category. Any idea on what might have happened?"

"As it is now, it would be rejected automaticaly because there is no signature. Give the guide a quick read for all the necessities. Next you would need to clean up the extraction more, some of the edges are rough. The BG would need more as well. "

"The first item I notice is that the drop shadow on the logo is being cut off on the bottom and left sides, like it is in a box. Also, if you're going to use a logo, why cut off the top of the logo? Try bringing it down or placing it somewhere else on the wall. You may also want to shrink it a bit. The vector looks great and I can't find anything wrong with it."

"Welcome to AP Loversan. My first suggestion is for to to visit the AP Guide . It only takes a few minutes to read through it and will answer many of your questions. Specifically check the Wallpaper guide. Here are the problems that jump out immediately:
1. Your signature is GIGANTIC =) and does not match your AP userid.
2. The image itself is very pixelated and could do with some cleaning up. The image is very simple, maybe you should think about vectoring it.
3. The pero appear to be placed in a basic line pattern but in the middle this pattern is disturbed by some offplaced heads.
4. Overall the wall is very simple and could use some spicing up. =)
Read through the guide and then take some more time with your wall. Once you have, post it up again on Session Zero to get some opinions on it. Good luck =)"

Anime that makes you cry

"Two movies came to my mind instantly upon seeing the title of this thread and I thought that they would be among the first mentioned. I was amazed that they have yet to be brought up. The first anime I saw that made me lose it was Barefoot Gen. The story revolves around a boy who survives the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima. The imagery borders on horrifying from minute one all the way to the end. The second anime was Grave of the Fireflies. Grave is more well known because it is newer and easily found at most stores. It follows a brother and sister after the fire-bombing of Kobe. Both of these animes deal with war and can be very moving and depressing at the same time. This is compounded by the fact that they are both based off non-fictional stories."

"I feel like it's only getting started. Characters are still being introduced at a very high rate. There is also a lot of unknowns within the plot too. But Sekirei isn't trying to boggle your mind with amazing twists and turns. Some may view it as an action manga but I see if more as a comedy with action as a secondary, along the lines of Yumeria and such. I definately don't think it's boring or that the ecchi brings it down at all. The ecchi just throws a bit of humor into the action scenes. Is it not funny when a character doesn't know that she should cover up and then later on is proud of herself when she remembers to do it? =) "
