After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

Okay, today I have made my first wallpaper with real person as the subject. He is Heo Young Saeng, a Korean singer who is singing with his group, SS501. This wallpaper was requested by my new friend Kori in Poland ^_^
I am actually pretty happy with the result, especially the background of the wallpaper around Heo >_<
I do not really know the person, so I just took a simple idea, flowers :) I was inspired by Peni's wallpaper by the way, her concepts are really really wow, five thumbs up ;)
Tell me what do you think! I will be more than glad to hear that ;)

"I am not sure about how you do things in Photoshop 5.0; I am also clueless about that version. however, I will try to do my best to help.first thing first, you may want to look what others have done in making abstract wallpaper.
try to see this and this as both of them like to make abstract wallpaper. hope you get some kind of inspiration looking at their wallpapers.
as per the background, I think it is better if you make it all solid color. as I do not like the stripes =p take a note, when people make a simple abstract wallpaper, they tend to vector the character. more simple it is, more high quality of the character we will need. though some do not use vectored characters. I believe using textures might help a bit. anyway, if you feel like filling up the left part of the wallpaper, try extending the brushes on the back to the left. you can make more with that round circle brushes. or maybe with another ones. deviantart is a good place for that.
for extraction, I believe you only need to clean the one on the chain near the hair. I know it is hard, so I am suggesting to just cut the chain and remove it completely =d
well, well, I actually want to recommend you to vector the image. but since you are using photoshop 5.0, I am not sure how.
anyway, good luck on the wallpaper. ask me if you feel like it. :D
PS: I believe the size is too much for a 800x600 resolution. try using the "save for web"."

"Yeah, it definitely look good :DI don't know why, but seems she really fits blue and white.
while I actually like the cloud very much, I don't think I am fond of the feather brushes. well, maybe it will look better if you actually make solid feathers. flowing around. not some transparent one. or maybe you can keep i a bit transparent like now, but with some other way. not too sure how though.
as for text, I think it will be better if you make the color more saturated and make it looks like... a crystal? well,something like that.
just a suggestion, what about having the character at the center? and the text on the lower center too? well, just keep experimenting and I am sure you will find a suitable one.

"First thing first, try using another image hosting site such as imageshack.us which do not resizes your image. because if your image is too small, it will be hard for other people to see your work. :)As far as I can see, and as I know, the big image of the character usually is not really necessary or can even make your wallpaper looks boring. I believe you are aiming for making a abstract wallpaper, no? most of the time, using outer glow in this kind of wallpaper does not help you, but as for this wallpaper, it is not clearly seen, so I can't really tell how does the outer glow works.
seeing as it is now, I'm suggesting for you to remove the big image of the character, then remove the outer glow on the smaller character. And for the text... well, each person has his own taste, so I can't really give some suggestion. but if it were me, I will make digital background (you know, digital effects) and make the text on the right bottom.
sorry for not being too clear, seems I'm too tired. but somehow I really wanted to comment on this wallpaper, so here it is. anyway, if you have some question, feel free to ask me. :)

"For reference in text, you maybe want to see `asa01's wallpapers, he(she?) has a lot of nice ones with texts in it.And beside what has been stated by angel-voice and rabidsheep, I think the texture is rather does not fit there. I tend to use a soft texture. Maybe you want to take a look at DA! Desktopanime, it has some nice textures.

"Aside from what hatesyou and angel-voice mentioned,I think the outer glow kinda does not fit there. I believe outer glows on an abstract wall are most likely do not fit the entire wallpaper. (but yes, there are special cases, but not this one)
The background alone is quite interesting, I would say. But with a-lot-of-color haseo there, you need something to blend them together.
By the way, I tried to make haseo black and white on my photoshop, it looks better in my opinion.
And another thing, the orange thing there has to be sharpened (vectored), because while Haseo looks fine, but the orange thing there looks blurred.
I do not have any idea about the background, though.

Ever been inspired by Anime?

"As you are, I think I was inspired by anime or manga.I played basketball in Junior High, back then I watched and also read Slam Dunk, as the story goes on, I got myself influenced by it and started practicing basketball more and more.
I believe anime inspires a lot of people. When people like the stories, they tend to do as the stories, well, at least that is for me.
Is it really the only thing that get us inspired? what do you think?

~New Wallpaper~ Need critique/suggestions.

"Hi, I actually like the concept of your wallpaper.However, for now, to make it looks better, these are my suggestions:
1. Concept. Put the male and female faces on the back, while the scan where they're hugging in the front. Note: make the faces less seen by reducing the opacity.
2. Male and Female faces on the back. I think you should try to find a nice scan with the same pose so you can make a great wallpaper. Try making them less blurry, especially some parts which you can see is extremely blurred or sharpened, which maybe because you resized them from a small screen shots into as big as wallpaper. Are those screen shots? if they are, not good, because you need to paint or vector them.
3. Text. I do think the color of the text need to be changed. Because you can see, nothing on the wallpaper is pink beside the text (well that usually not a problem, but I think it is this time). So you may want to change it to other color. And what I usually do, I choose random color and experimenting with the blending mode in photoshop until I think they look nice.
Oh, and trying new font will be really nice. Try take a look at Dafont for some nice fonts.
I think it will be better if you actually put it on the center, but that is only to me though, because your tida here usually has weird tastes, LOL.
4. Others. For some romantic feelings you want to have (yes? or no?) you can make those by adding some blurred round shapes with different sizes on the front. That will be really nice. ;D
I think that's it for now. Maybe I can give more thorough critiques later.
May I know what program do you use? if you use photoshop, maybe I can help you explaining to you step by step to achieve some effects to make the wallpaper looks better.
I'm sorry if I'm not really clear with my comment above, but if you have some parts that you don't understand, or want some helps, feel free to ask. ;D

"Nice Idea ;DThese are the things that I think you should do:
1. Extraction. I don't know you extracted or vectored the character, so I'm assuming that you extracted the character. Take a look at her face, I think you may want to clean some of the parts, especially near the eyes and chin.
2. Hair color. I think almost all parts are too saturated, all except the ones near his neck.
3. Lightning. It kinda needs some work, but personally, I do think it will be better if you remove the lightning.
4. Background. Actually this may become a nice abstract wallpaper. However, I think you should remove the leaves brushes and blood brushes that are too roundish. I'm suggesting to look at DeviantArt to look for some nice blood splatters brushes. And about the arrangement, I think you should try experimenting until you find a nice composition. Do you know that textures actually make wallpaper much much better? They do. DeviantArt has a lot of nice textures, but I recommend you to take a look at DA! Desktop Anime. Because the textures are really nice. I usually change the texture layer blending mode to "soft light", but you have to try other blending modes to see how they look.
If you have some parts that you don't understand, feel free to ask. ;D
If you use Photoshop, I may even describe the steps.

"The wallpaper looks pretty good.May I see the real scans?
These are my suggestions:
1. Put your signature.
2. I'm not too fond of the text you put. maybe use one without outlines and then make it less visible (lower the opacity) the key
3. Take a look at the bottom of the house. There shouldn't be any ripple because there isn't any in the rest of the ocean. I've seen the scan of the house, the ripple reflection on the house need to be removed, then paint the ocean in the same style as the rest.
4. Did you add a glow or something on the top of the character? if yes, maybe you want to remove it. if not...forget what I've said ;p
5. Take a look at her skirt, (out of line color)
