This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

"All of your pictures are slightly blurry, and your background appears very plain and flat against the pictures.

Your pictures aren't screenshots are they? Because screenshot are nearly always visually blurry or small. Its always better to work from scans, usually the larger the better.

With your picture composition try altering the angles of the lines and picture angles. From what I can gather your picture sequence is showing Yuki crying, perhaps exploring other pictureboard methods could improve on the originality or wow-factor of your wall. "

"You need to add your signature to the wall.

I like your background, it fits the feeling of the wall. But there is also a large area on the left that looks empty, perhaps flipping the text to the opposite side of the wall would help patch the empty area on the left.

Would You Buy Designer Clothe?

1 month 2 weeks ago

"I so don't care about fashion other then roughly co-ordinating what I wear. In fact clothes/fashion shopping ranks above a doctor or dentist visit in things I really would rather not do.

So while most of my clothes and accessory brands are acceptable they're neither low brands or high brands just middle of the range - enough for a bit of quality. As for spending large amounts of money on fashion it's not what I would do with the money, but there are situations and social levels were designer brands are required if not necessary."

help: sending huge files

1 month 4 weeks ago

"I think the only sensible way to share a file(s) that large would be to compress the file and split it into parts (usually around 100mb). I use a free program called zipgenius, which i'm sure you could find online.

As for an online host, sorry I really don't have much experience with uploading to hosts but if you have ever downloaded anything use your impressions of the host and combine it with the file size limits. But there are always the old tried and true hosts such as rapidshare, megaupload, savefile and badongo. "

High School and Anime

4 months 6 days ago

"Yes this theme is over used. I think if I see another high school harem anime i'll scream, or read/hear 'normal high school boy/girl' i'll gag.

But there are also a lot of American movies that use high school as a setting and high school students as main characters (or have I watched the Disney channel too much?)- but not as much as anime seems to.

But to put everthing into perspective not every anime is set in high school; There are quite a few out there that aren't like the .hack series, Tsubasa Chronicles, Romeo x Juliet, Slayers, Ghost in a Shell etc., and are still popular.

I think high school is just an easy setting to write about, where the main characters aren't completely bound by to a particular way of life but are old enough to create almost unlimited possibilities. After all when else after high school do lots of different people group together, in large enough groups to prove interesting? "

McAfee help

4 months 6 days ago

"I have McAfee and my version picks up cookies and other minor stuff, be worried if you do find a virus. It should clearly mark what it has found even if that's only in the logs, so check the log.

Regardless of your version of McAfee (virus, internet suite etc.) get a good spyware scanner. McAfee should pick up nearly everything, in a recent review McAfee picked up 83% of known virus and spyware, but having a back up never hurt. I have SpywareDoctor and that detects and/or immunises a lot of cookies, bad site, loggers and Malware. So if you're really worried get a spyware scanner.

Anime fans 18+, do you hang out with other Otaku?

4 months 1 week ago

"I didn't think there were manyanime fans in my area of the state. But apparently they unofficially meet at the local public library - although I wouldn't class many of them as mature or over 18+.

They gather around the computer area to watch Dragonball or Naruto on you-tube, download Yaoi manga or watch assorted 90's anime on-line. They are a very weird and scary bunch, as they discuss the latest events in Naruto passionately.

Infact it's best just to keep away from them 'cause when they found out that I knew what they were talking about, I haven't been able to shake them off whenever we happen to be in the library together they talk to me, it's rather disturbing."

math=hard or easy??

4 months 3 weeks ago

"1) for the math genius () i wanna know how did you guys study...
I am most certainly not a maths genius (although it would be good if I was). I don't study general maths any more as i'm studying to become an accountant it's all business maths, ledgers, reports and statistics. There is nothing more satisfying then finally getting something to balance after hours of work. But aside from that I try not to study if I can help it, unless I really like the subject then perhaps i'll read the text book and try a few exercises, but mostly I just listen at lectures and the read chapter conclusion/summaries.

2) does your parents get piss of if you didnt pass your math test??
I've never failed a maths test of any kind. I once got a 48% in a non-counting mid-year exam in high school (years and years ago and it still really depresses me) but that's the lowest maths mark I've ever had. you just have to give something your best shot, you can't do anything more then that; Pass or fail as long as you're satisfied that it was the best mark you could have got. Although parental pressure is a great motivator for studying harder...

3) your favourite topic
Huummm? in high school my favourite classes were business maths ('cause I really had to fight to do it - they wouldn't let me go down maths levels) and geography. But in Uni I really like Accounting and Law. Yep you've got to hand it to the snail in the Ginger Beer bottle (earliest duty of care lawsuite)

4) how much do you usually get for your math test?
70+ (Credit/Distinction) anything less isn't worth crying blood, sweat and tears over; But in fact i'm glad if I get over a 50% pass (so I don't have to do it again)."

MONEY = everything???

4 months 3 weeks ago

"Yep Spudsy you are shallow, but so is the world, and I happen to agree with you.

Money = Power and Power rules the world! I've been told that only people that don't have it say that money isn't everything or money can't buy love, but it sure goes a long way towards filling up any gaps that may be missing in a person's life. Not that i'm in any danger of that happening to me of course.

Let's put it all into perspective. Name 5 international really rich people (insert celebrity names here); Name 5 really big/wealthy companies. Now name 5 not rich people not living in your country that you haven't spoken/blogged/commented or written to; Name 5 running businesses that aren't in your country that don't make mega bucks.

Bet you can name the wealthy people and companies but couldn't name the people or small business.

The moral of this story is that money rules that world. After all money also buys more anime/manga and i'm sure nearly everybody in this forum would love that. "

Does watching anime ever depress you?

4 months 3 weeks ago

"It hadn't until I read this post!

After finishing a series, I always find it an exciting challenge (and a chance to explore heaps of different series) to find another series to watch. Take the time in between series as an opportunity to read what fellow anime watchers have to say about different series - or just scroll through the anime discussed at AP.

I don't mean to trivialise what you've written but I think you need to remember that anime is suppost to be a form of entertainment - like movies, TV and books.

If you feel that way after a series, you could perhaps not watch that next series of anime like you planned, but instead go somewhere more lively and meet people or go out with friends. If you only ever imagine life you will never live it (or so i've heard 'cause I don't seem to have a life outside of Uni). Get a new hobby, go to a new shop or spend a day sightseeing, remember a long journey starts with the first step (ah!! I think I horribly slaughtered that saying). "

how is my wallpaper

5 months 1 week ago

"First I think you need to fix up you link.

I like the font you used but that is unfortunately that's all I like about your wall.

Your wall looks like it would fit into a low effort wall category (cut and paste an image into a blank wall and add writing). It looks like you cut and pasted an image from a manga, faded the edges, added a gold circle border, a title and blood stain. There need to be more apparent effort involved (or looks to be involved) in the creation of the wall.

Perhaps try and recreate the scene on the whole wall, like a screenshot from a bad black and white detective movie."

Vampire Knight wallpaper

5 months 1 week ago

"I'd really love to know where you got this scan *drool* cute pic

However down to business. I really think it would be better if you only used the bigger image. The little mirror image just complicates and confuses the focal point of the wall. The focal point is the first thing the eye is drawn too.

You have blended your image into the background well, but you picture looks faded and bright at the same time. If it's your scan, perhaps you should source another one.

Perhaps a picture frameformat would could help snazy up your wall. Perhaps with a cracked glass finish, or torn corners to mimic Aidos collection of shattered treasures mentioned in the anime. "

Are you afraid of Chuck Norris? You Should Be

5 months 1 week ago

"I can't say I'm afraid of Chuck Norris or a Chuck Norris fan.

I've been on a Chuck Norris fan site (sorry can't remember the address) that had 10+ page of comments, about 100 comments a page.

I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard and annoyed the people in the room with me by reading a lot of them out loud at the same time. It was a great day.

If anyone needs a laugh try to google for the site, it's worth it! "

Time travelling

6 months 2 weeks ago

"I've read somewhere that time is an infinite loop (fashion loops, why not time). In theory it is possible to jump forward or backward in time (time being a never ending loop), however the power source needed to generate the energy required for a time jump is so large that it doesn't currently exist. So time travel is still just a dream or theory.

Characters in sci-fi's time jump (Quantum Leap, Star Trek) and some of yesterday's (yesterday meaning past/old) sci-fi has become sci-fact, so why not time travel too! "

Do you believe that BISEXUALITY exists?

6 months 2 weeks ago

"I believe that bisexual tendencies exist in every person, however the extent that a person is aware of that tendency or even acts on it defines whether the person in question is considered bisexual. Everyone at one time or another looks at another person of the same sex and has a stray though that that person is good looking (usually at models in adverts or celebrities), *shrug* does that make you bisexual if you don't act on that thought any further?

Likewise homosexual (tendencies) are sometimes present in peoples' genes, however that doesn't predict for a 100% certainty whether that person will be homosexual, only that it is more probable that they will be.

So yes, I do believe that bisexuals exists. These 'bisexuals' may just happen to be more honest about their feelings of attraction then people of other gender preferences, or it may be in their genes who knows why it is. Bisexuality in some form (physical/sexual attraction towards your own and the opposite gender) exists and as it exists, so it's a fact. "

What's would you want to happen to your anime collection after you die?

8 months 4 days ago

"I don't really plan on kicking the bucket in the immediate future (or even in the not-so immediate future).

But I suppose everything would get divided between my brothers. Who both pretend not to like anime but one watches Naruto and the other one just bought the whole Ranma series - how's that not liking anime?"

Can you listen to music while reading manga?

8 months 2 weeks ago

"Is there any other way to read manga?

No matter what I'm doing on the computer (except watching anime and movies of course) I always have music playing, I even have music playing now on my iPod.

Multi-tasking is the only way to really enjoy doing something. Besides if you're really concentrating on something then it shouldn't matter what you are or are not listening to.

It's also scientifically proven fact that ambient noise (ie. white noise from the radio, although I think white noise disappeared with the introduction of the FM band) actually increases concentration."

other peoples grammar

8 months 2 weeks ago

"It only really bugs me when it's excessive or it's clear that the person is a native english speaker/writter and just hasn't bothered to read it after they wrote it.

It always pays to just read a message after you write it, not just run a spelling check. If a word is spelt correctly but is not grammatically correct (ie. makes sense) then spell checking a message/report/letter/email etc will not pick it up after all the word is correctly spelt - just not correctly used.

Does SMS'ese written in a forum count as bad grammer or spelling? Now sometimes that gets really annoying."

Falling Asleep?

9 months 2 days ago

"If being active doesn't help try doing homework -or thinking about homework. Just thinking about the size and weight of my textbooks make me feel very tired.

Try thinking about something pleasant like going over your current favourite manga/anime series or book/series. Try picturing sheep jumping over fences -it's actually quite funny-.

Or you can try a relaxation exercise I learnt in High School. Starting from either your head or toes, stretch and hold for ten seconds each part indivually and then relax it. As you work through the parts of your body you should get more relaxed and sleepy.

Don't try the coffee caffiene is a stimulant (x2 a can a cola) and so won't help you sleep. If you really want to try something liquid try some herbal tea or warm water/milk.

Do you beleive in magic ?

9 months 2 days ago

"I believe that there is more then we can ordinarily see or feel. So if magic is classified as extra-ordinary events and actions then yes I believe in magic.

Just not hollywood style magic - completely ill-logical, and what's with the blinking nose twitching and hand waving. You can not create something out of nothing, just convert existing matter."
