"Yet another update. I've been experimenting on the best kind of "magic" effect i could give her but in the end sparkles did the best. What do you guys think?"

"Well, yet another update on the wall. This time I experimented with every filter I could find that came with gimp and tried to combine them to see what the result would be. Thing is that only 2 filters worked out nicely, the alient glow which gave her the blue aura and the color channel editor, which made her more bluish (to complement the aura since it seemed strange when she still had her normal colors). Any other tips for improvement? Right now I'm trying to find something that would help sparkle her up a bit..literally...

"I took out the softglow off of her and placed it in the background instead. Seems a lot better now at least :D. I'll look into the aura thing and the other effects that you suggested (I'm using gimp and barely know anything about photoshop so I'll have to do some experiments @_@).

"Actually the blur is due to the soft glow (i'm not going to touch on that effect anymore >.<). I'll see what I can do with the image and try to play around with the effects. For now, i'll need a break, Half-Life 2 made me real dizzy @_@ even if i play CS a hell lot...

1.) Took out the text because I don't think anyone seems to be happy with it (comments here and from my friends were negative so I took it out instead).
2.) Modified the floor to see if a snowy floor would do better than an icy one.
3.) Added another light source to brighten up the crystals further (result is that the entire pic looks a lot brighter)
4.) Took out the lens flare since it was barely visible with all the brightness now..

So what do you guys think?"

">.< I removed the soft glow effect on her just so that she would appear sharper...I'll see if I can increase the contrast instead. For the text, I'll have to see, I wanted to have an elegant font to match her elegant pose ;-), but I'll try out century gothic then (at this rate, I might as well not place text >.<). I'll also take out the shadow effect and keep the text simple. For the lens glare, I'll see how it is if i remove it, but fyi I placed the lense glare for realism. The black parts in the background...hmm...I'll try to consider adding some light sources there or something or take a friend's suggestion to use hdr (which I lack experience in using...). I don't think I can make her any bigger though, it would ruin the depth perspective in the image and I don't see what's there to clean up...did I miss a spot or something?...

Some of the changes I did:
1.) Added a somewhat icy texture to the floor which resulted in making the spotlight very hard to see so I just took it out all together.
2.) Removed the shadow because the only very strong light source is in the back, so technically the shadow whould be casted somewhere beneath or behind the camera (she's in mid-air).
3.) Change the effect on the text from 3d to a simple drop shadow.
4.) Added snow flakes, somehow it made it look better but I may need to work out the placement... Hopefully I'll be able to create a snow particle system in blender to better emulate snow (seems to have issues with yafray).
5.) Removed the softglow effect on celsius making her less blurred

So what do you guys think now?"

"1.) scan is beautiful but too small - I had to scale it down due to the weird feeling when you compare Celsius and her shadow. Looks like I'll have to resize the spotlight so that i can make her and her shadow bigger.
2.) Background empty at the bottom - I originally wanted a plain empty icy floor, but I think it's time i played with the textures in blender >:)
3.) Background too complex - but...but...but...I like complex backgrounds :C. And this was the only way I could make a decent crystal background >.<.
4.) Blurry words - I tried to imitate a 3d effect by duplicating the text layer and applying motion blur on the lower one. It's suppose to be very very crisp on the png version but I'll try to sharpen it up w/o having to increase quality.
5.) bad english - don't worry, as long as english isn't your primary language then it's fine, but if it is... :X (i'll keep quiet now)."

"I think i know what's wrong with the shadow, it's smaller than Celsius... So if you take it into a mathematic perspective, the light source would have been bigger than Celsius and the shadow should've been more blurred. I'll have to either adjust the spotlight (thereby re-rendering the background >.<) or resize Celsius and make her smaller. As for the text...still working on it >.<"

"Any suggestions on what font/effect I should use? Right now I'm brute forcing my way through my giant pile of fonts (used to be larger until i had to reformat comp). I take it that a nice snow and icy effect to the font would also make it nice, wouldn't you guys agree? "

"Well, I've done 3d wallpapers mostly in the past and this is my 1st attempt to make an anime wallpaper with a 3d background. Any points for improvement? Celsius doesn't seem to fit well into the background >.<. You can check it out here

"I honestly don't think that popularity is the main reason to consider for an OS being very insecure, because if you look at web servers, apache is the web server that dominates the market with IIS (by microsoft) in 2nd place. However when you look at the tally of bugs and holes, IIS wins by 2 fold. Simple conclusion: No software is perfect, but there will always be more imperfect software :P.

Intel VS AMD

"I would go for Intel over AMD for the ff reasons:
1.) Doesn't heat up quickly
2.) Good performance
3.) Endian-ness (I'm a programmer and I don't like to have to work on annoying byte orders :P)
4.) Cheaper

Besides, I read somewhere in this thread about what can beat a dual AMD 2.8 GHZ CPU? My dual Intel 3.0 GHZ CPU >:)

What Graphic Cards are good?

"Well, to put it simply:
Nvidia = average gamer/user who requires high performance and inexpensive cards
ATI = hard core gamer, quite expensive but you get nice graphics out of it.
All others = i don't really recommend unless you're not into intensive graphics.

Subs or Dubs?

"I would prefer subs primarily because I've seen lots of horrible dubs out there (stares at animax). I have to admit though that there are good dubs like those of toonami. For me I prefer not to just appreciate anime by the graphics, but as a whole. I believe that all the elements of the anime should be appreciated and not just the graphics. From the sounds, music, character voices, emotion, story elements and graphics. When a certain anime manages to get al those nicely, I would consider it an excellent anime. Unfortunately dubs can ruin the voice and emotional aspects of a certain anime, hence the reason why i prefer subs.
