This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

Pretty much. Postal 2 was absolutely absurd. Great for venting, IMO, but not much elsewise.

Never played it. The only thing it had going for it was controversy

Fated / Destiny...?

My opinion? I sort of see life...It's like one of those non-linear RPG's. You make various choices, and there are various results, but all of those choices, you see, follows a set path. I see life as something like that, only with infinite outcomes. It's not completely governed by fate, but it's not all chance and chaos, either. :)

I agree with this take on fate and destiny. This would certainly explain many of the impossibilities of life (they are not outline in one of the possible destiny paths), but still provide for free will and the influence of our own choices."

humans and evolution

1 year 6 months ago

"I doubt there will be much more significant evolutions coming up such as gills because there is no need for such evolutions. In fact, people with such mutations will probably be seen as freaks and have a hard time passing on their genes.
Further, with the way humans are doing things now, it is much easier to change the environment then to wait millions of years for natural selection and mutations to survive. Also, with the emphasis on making living conditions better for "everyone", the only natural selections I see happening are perhaps toward certain traits such as height and others."

Not much 'discussion' going on in general discussion

"Ironically, your questions are leading to a thread of no discussions but merely replies. For some, this thread is turning into one of those threads that they reply once and never look back. Anyway just thought that's quite interesting.
Well to answer some of your questions, which I'm sure few if any would care for my response
-sometimes unless there are too many pages or too many long posts
-no I've got plenty

How do you feel after you finish your 100th anime series

1 year 6 months ago

"Wow some people here watch a lot with 100+ series. I've seen somewhere around 70 series and I thought that was plenty, but haha I guess not. I hope I will have enough time to get to 100 series soon."

Fate Stay Nigth. What is your opinion

"For me, this is an awesome anime solely because of Saber and Rin. They boost the anime way up with their hawtness. Without those two, this is merely a so so anime with a very annoying male lead."

Jerry Springer

1 year 7 months ago

"I can't tell if the show is staged or not. Sometimes the drama seems way too ridiculous to be real. Also, the people don't act the way I would expect them to sometimes (have they no shame?). Well, despite that, this show is quite crazy and crudely enjoyable. I must agree too that the crowd is the best. Jerry's sarcastic remarks here and there are also quite funny sometimes. Definitely trash t.v. at its best."

Slut or nerd...? Does it tell what you are?

What do you mean it has nothing to do with it? I think it has everything to do with it.

I think Redneckwoman meant your comment:
lenaslover
...boys whose main concern is what kind of panties you wear. If that is their main concern, they are not worth your time. You're going to find yourself saddled with a kid and no dad (for said child) before you're 18.

Frankly I found this comment quite irrelevant to the question at hand as well. This thread is just exploring stereotypes associated with lingerie and not about people's choice of hanging with sex crazed teenagers.

About your advice to girls, almost every adolescent boy, at least those that I know, is rather concerned with the type of lingerie girls wear. In my opinion, to assume that one would be saddled with a child just because of that is an overstatement."

Lying

1 year 7 months ago

"Well, many of you pointed out that it is better to tell the truth even if the truth hurts. However, if both telling the truth and having your lie exposed lead to pain, why not just take the chance that the lie might not be discovered? My point is that in cases where the truth will inevitably hurt, perhaps it might be better to just take your chances and tell the lie."

Lying

1 year 7 months ago

"There is no bad lie. Every lie serves a purpose, whether trivial or major. In that case, lies are not bad at all. In my opinion, people should just lie whenever they need to or feel like it. It makes life so much easier to have less useless moral restraints.
A lot of people mentioned that lies will come back to bite you in the ass or something to that effect. Yes, this happens in some cases, but there is no guarantee this will happen all the time. Just because sometimes lies may go wrong, that should not stop you from making any lies, especially a white lie at that, since by definition, a white lie can not exacerbate a situation."

Slut or nerd...? Does it tell what you are?

1 year 7 months ago

"While clothes do not necessarily make a person, they do say something about your character. There is no denying that what you like to wear is very likely influenced by the image you portray, and if you are trying to get people to check out your body, that may say something about your promiscuity. Anyways, slut is probably an extreme label for thong wearers, but most likely, if a girl wears thongs, she is probably not the most prudish girl around. Same could be applied to nerds and undergarments.
In my opinion, this generalization holds true very often."

Chinese New Year

1 year 7 months ago

"Yes I celebrate Chinese New Year as well. By celebrating, it merely means everyone in the family gets around and eats dinner. Because almost all the kids of the family are off to college now, getting together is already enough of a New Year gesture. We also got red envelopes of course from our parents, though not a ridiculous amount. It's pretty fortunate though that Chinese New Year coincided with President's day weekend, which made scheduling much easier for me. Anyway, happy Chinese New Year."

Energy Drinks

"I drink Full Throttles as well when I need to pull an all nighter to finish a paper or something. It's really strong, or maybe I just have a low tolerance. I can last a whole night and until the afternoon the next day by just drinking one Full Throttle. As for taste, I find that most energy drinks are pretty nasty, and Full Throttle is no exception; it tastes like soap and burns my lips and throat."

genetically engineered super fruit

"Personally, I do not see why there would be an ethical issue involved with GMO. People have been doing similar things for a while now without arousing such attention. People have breeded different breeds and altered DNAs that way to suit their needs. One example of this are seedless watermelons. The only difference between what people have been doing and GMOs are the methods and technologies involved with GMO."

Well this is all connected to her past, and we actualy don't know how old Eiri is

I think in the series, he is an art student in college. Furthermore, he holds a job. As such I can only assume he is at least 17 or 18, if not more. Anyways, my point is, Eiri is a pedophile. Perhaps he loved Cossette for her soul, but he was first attracted to her because of her appearance. I think in one scene, he mentions her "beauty"."

Caffeine: Best friend to students and anime addicts!

1 year 7 months ago

"Caffeine is definitely my support for college. I tend to stay up prett ylate, and it gets pretty hard as the night goes on. A cup of tea, coffee, milk tea, some energy drink, or even coke immediately fixes that. For some reason, I seem to have a pretty low tolerance to caffeine. One cup of coffee can allow me to pull an all nighter. I admit though that I don't ever drink anything too strong. Anyways, I love caffeine and it helps so much."

How do you critque anime?

1 year 7 months ago

"I don't really have a strict guidelines to how I judge an anime. For me, all that counts is enjoyment. I used to, when reviewing anime, break a series down into several categories, including characters, plot...etc. However, after a while, I find that the ratings betrayed my feelings and enjoyments for an anime. For example, one of my all time favorite anime is Witch Hunter Robin. I really loved this anime. Though, if I were to evaluate it looking at each aspect, it is actually merely mediocre in every aspect. So now, I just rate an anime based on how much fun I had watching it and how much enjoyment I got out of the series."

My thoughts on Ergo Proxy

"I really love this series. For me, the best parts were seeing the various references to psychology, philosophy, Greek and Aztec myths, Shakespeare... etc. Furthermore, the various questions and themes prompted me to think much about some life issues, and I rather enjoyed that.
It definitely started strong, and I don't think it ended weak either. I actually really liked the ending. Though somewhat confusing, the ending gave a pretty good conclusion to the plot and left the audience with a feeling of hope. It also gave room to imagination of what could come next."
