There are only three people in existence that have mastered the Rasengan: Naruto, Jiraiya, and Yondaime. And I really don't think that Jiraiya is Naruto's father. Weird. Secondly, is that Naruto's element is Wind. Yondaime was also a user of Wind. One's element could be a hereditary trait among ninjas. Also, Yondaime created the Rasengan as a highly complex and difficult to master jutsu. Naruto mastered it in a little over a week. Isn't it possible that Naruto mastered the Rasengan as quickly as he did because he's Yondaime's son? I think so. Even more than that is that Naruto is completing the unfinished jutsu by adding the element Wind. It would be a father to son continuation. I'm sure this happens quite a bit among ninja clans. A jutsu could take many decades to create, perfect, and master. It could possibly have to be done over generations. Why not the Uzamaki generation? Naruto's affinity for the Fourth's techniques isn't just a coincidence.

Eragon and his dragon. Right there you can just FEEL the originality flowing through your veins. /sarcasm

I've never been impressed in the least with the trilogy for quite a few reasons:

1. Chris' writing style is very choppy which is consistent of most teenage writers. His sentences do not flow together very well at all, something I call "broken sentences". This not only prohibits readers from getting into a story but he also overuses metaphors. Descriptions such as "his cloak flowed over him like a silver river running down a mountainside" may seem like good writing, but when you use these metaphors constantly it only gives off the impression that you're trying too hard to sound like you have good writing skills. You can use simple words to describe something without referring it to a "flowing silver river".

2. The storyline/plotline is a direct ripoff of Lord of the Rings. Basically the kid took LOTR and added dragons to the storyline. Not only that, but the entire plot is extremely predictable. The elf girl is constantly fighting off Eragon's advances but you just know that in the end they'll get together. I've never read past the first chapter of the first book yet I've always been able to accurately predict what will happen all the way at the end of Eldest. That doesn't make for an exciting read. The books could have been much more interesting if he cut it about 300 pages and stopped with all the cliched dialogue. "Is she dangerous?" "We're all dangerous", dear god I want to scream.

Also, I would have loved to see where Chris would have gone if Eragon stayed crippled. THAT would have been interesting and original, instead he has to give him super elf powers to turn him into some sort of god. Argh!

3. Mary Sue should be Eragon's name. All the characters are shallow and predictable, Eragon is "the only hunter who would dare venture into the spine" even though he's 15. The master dragon rider who teaches the kid dies in order for Eragon to keep on living. Star Wars anyone? Also, the evil dragon rider being his brother is something that's been overused to the extreme. Whenever someone has a "mysterious" past or origin, such as Eragon, chances are the villain is a blood relative. If his origins stayed a mystery that would have some originality, instead Chris falls into the cliched world of teen writing and overpraised, untalented authors.

Chris needs a severe reality check when it comes to his writing "skills". He can't write, he can't come up with an original storyline, and graduating high school at 15 doesn't make you a genius. Even my 16-year-old friends who are into their second year of full-time college aren't exactly geniuses themselves. Get off your high horse and take a few English classes, then come back to me with a storyline that didn't "come to you" after watching LOTR.
