"I just download what's airing in Japan at the moment, and sometimes older titles that I've been wanting to see. I only download stuff that's not out on DVD yet, though. Also, if what I have downloaded comes out in the states (and, I uh, like it) I'll by the DVDs. I use bittorrent as a means of a free preview. It's just the same as watching it on TV."

If you liked First Gundam and Zeta, you'll love the Seed series, because there are TONS of throwbacks to those shows (espcially in Destiny)."

"The first Gundam Seed was a decent Gundam series. I felt it suffered from a low budget so they resorted to cheap animation tricks durring battles, especially in the final episodes (a lot of recycled footage and slidding). But overall, it was a good series, at some points great. I did buy the whole series, I'm actually re-watching it right now.

Gundam Seed Destiny is shaping up to be a much better series (though some people have said otherwise). The animation is a lot better and the battles actually feel like battles. Also, the story is turning out to be interesting. I like the characters, too (Rakusu~)

Too bad each series sufferes from such played mecha design. I wish they'd just give Okawara a break. At least in Destiny we see mechas from first Gundam (Domu, Zaku, Goufu). Sure, it's pretty much "ripping" but atleast those mechas still look good after 25 years. Probably one of the few mecha designs I really like in the Seed universe is the Freedom (the Destiny is pretty cool, too) I guess every Gundam can't have awesome mecha designs like Zeta."

Honey and Clover Live Action Movie

It was announced last week in the entertainment section of Nikkan Sports that a live-action movie of the popular shoujo manga and anime, Honey and Clover, is going to be made. Sakurai Sho (23), member of the popular J-Pop music group ARASHI, will play the lead male role as Takemoto Yuuta.

Aoi Yuu (20), Iseya Yusuke (29) Kase Ryo (30), and Seki Megumi (19) will join Sakurai as the five main characters of Honey and Clover.

Masahiro Takada, a commercial advertisement director, will direct. This is his debut as a feature director.

The movie is scheduled to open to the public in the summer of 2006.

Actually, Watanabe said something about how the samurai culture and the hip-hop culture shared most of the same qualities (something about how you had to "represent" yourself as a samurai, etc). I heard that somewhere, some anime talk.

Anyway, it's a fun series. There are define story parallels (some episodes are essentialy Bebop episodes) and directorial parallels to Bebop (remember when Mugen is sinking in the water with calm music playing in the background? Remind you of Balled of Fallen Angels?). But, even with those similarities, the series is very different, and I like it for that. I feel it really picks up in its second half. Episodes become more serious, but are balanced out with wacky, over the top ones (the Americans coming the play baseball, priceless). There were a lot of liberties taken with history, but that only adds more to the show's wacky style and makes it interesting.

Overall, it's a nice, fun show; but lacks the gravity of Bebop. But I guess that's good, in a way."
