The movie came out in theatres before the TV series aired

I thought the movie premiered one month after the airing of the first episode of the TV series. O_O;

Another thought that I had last night is that people who go to anime conventions may not want to see that kind of thing at their convention. Imagine going to a Star Trek convention and bringing some pictures of some hot Kirk and Spock action. You ywould be ripped to shreads after being raped with their phasers on high.

One of the reasons that Americans are so uptight with nudity, drugs, prostitutition, etc, etc, etc... is because way back in the early days of America there were these people called the Puritians (the Pligrams if you know who they were,) they were a real uptight bunch that fled europe because they were being persucated by the english for trying to change the laws for harsher ones. So, they came to American so that they coud be as strict as they want. (example; dancing was a crime) You might know them as the people who did the Salem Witch Trials. Their ideals still continue to this day in modern America because we're supposed to be the "city on a hill" on the world, though that couldn't be farther from the truth.

So that's the reason why even American Anime fans are the way they are. Somehow seeing it in public proves that you have 10 Gigs of in on your computer. I don't get it either.

interesting :) most of the coments from the guys so far are for intelligent and quick-smart type and has similiar interest etc...where are all those shallow guys that you see around?

I think the main reason people are so caught up in it is because its a cartoon. People who aren't into anime probably think of it immediately as Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon, kid stuff. Then, they see naked people in it and since they thought it was for kids, they start making a huge deal. Unlike in Japan, people in America just see it as something wrong. Theres probably more nudity in some of the stuff they show on t.v. than in some animes so no one can really complain.

anime in america is still a subculture, it isn't really understoood by the average population

The point is that fan-service anime simply resorts to nudity when they have nothing else to give.

Because such things just shouldn't be mentioned in public. It makes them uncomfortable.
