Need ideas!

"Ok guys I've tried putting Kenshin in a whole new background, but it didn't work for me.
So I've decided to stick with the original background because...well its the easiest thing to do.
Anyways I always thought that 1280*768 was an appropriate size for widescreen walls, but after checking the FAQ I guess it isn't after all.
So now the wall is 1280*960, but I plan on making one in XVGA size because I use my laptop alot.
I've changed the background around the font to make it stand out more. I also added a wood beam over top kenshin, just to add more depth and dimension to the wall. I still think that there is too much black space, but I want to listen to what you guys think.

"Hello! I'm finally back to AP after many months of inactivity. Decided to try out a kenshin wall. I got the scan from AP and vectored it because I decided that the scan was easy enough to vector and the scan was pretty grainy. Anyways it took me 2 days to vector, but now i'm stuck on deciding what to put in the background. What I have done so far is....make a background to look like you are a person trying to attack kenshin at night time when kenshin has just finished killing everyone inside the house.

I feel like it need more work, especially since I have soo much black space and I don't know what to do with it.
Please share your ideas and critiques. Thank You.

"Me?? I want alot of things, but like poeple say: we need to know the value of a dollar. So i got a job.....
I worked alot and I saved up quite a bit, but now that I've saved up so much I don't wanna spend it...hehe
Its ironic how we get jobs for the sole purpose of spending money, but then as you work and get older you start to realize how important it is to save up... And for all you guys without jobs right now thinking: "WHAT? you don't spend your money??" once you get a job you'll be thinking: "I don't wanna buy it...it costs me 3 hours of hard work...""

"Get rid of the shadow behind her, I think this is what Yulaw meant by character zoom. (correct me if i'm wrong).
Im also in favor of WAY bigger resolutions. The problem is that everything will be pixelated. So if its possible you should start over with a big resolution and recreated everything over."

"Yup she needs a better extraction, you can try to hide it by putting a thin stroke around her though. This helps to make the black outlines around her seemless. I sorta think there is too much going on the same time, there is too much 'raves' now, and the words on the heart are kinda distracting. The background you had before the extra set of raves looks better. The pins still look too realistic/ 3d ish. Try to keep it simple, too much stuff at one time can clutter up the wall."

"I also like the grass version, the only major problems with using the grassbackground are the trees. The trees are way too blurry especially the right one (I know its at a farther distance, but it just doesn't look right). The clouds need a bit or work, I think the color of the sky should be a deeper shade of blue. You should try to improve the scan of saber, she needs to have richer colors and should show more details. This will be difficult because your scan is too small to work with."

"The image quality on the lower half of rei's body is somewhat poor, i would try working on cleaning up around there, also I think she need more shadows there as well. The quality of her hands are also a problem. Personally i like the font for "Rei" its looks really graffityish, but make it solid not transparent. Keep the area around the spotlight darker, so try to use a radial gradient which makes the outsides darker. This will add more depth. I hope my suggestions help."

"I really like how you progressed from the original, I like the new font for 'elie' at the top. Like Bluangle said, i think you should make the raves fade in and out at the top and the bottom. To me the tacks look a little wierd, I think they look too 3d'sh. the 4 leaf clover is kinda out of place, I think you should make it a solid color, and maybe a little smaller. Your doing a good job, keep it up!"

"No i don't believe in love at fisrt sight, its just lust. And most of the time it only lasts 10 seconds. I also don't believe in true love. Humans are imperfect, therefore i don't think anyone will ever truly love another. But of course this also contradicts itself because humans love imperfections in others. Without imperfections how will we know we are perfect. We need both to realize it exists. Just like how we can't be happy without first experiencing sadness. So I think humans will never achieve TRUE and absslute love, because love can't exist without sadness and anger.

I don't believe in this, I don't even believe in soulmates. I think that poeple will fall in love with whomever they happen to run into. Things are not predetermined, and everything happens spontaneously.

"From what i can see, the wallpaper doesn't have any focus. Take away the wavy cloud overlay, it just doesn't work. Font totally does not work. The white border doesn't work as well, because it makes it look like the wall is floating out. Having doubles of kira and lacus is not good, because agian it takes away focus of the wall. Improve your skills, you need more practice."

"Really needs to be cleaned up, make the lines sharper. But my sugestion: Redo it, or vector it! You can't just use a screen shot, stretch it, make it monochromatic and type in a signature and say its a wallpaper. Put effort into it, and read tutorials. Change the background or something, Jeez.. Make it unique, and i'm not talking about just playing with colors. Anyways good luck."

"Umm i like it before the sakura one, Sasuke still looks bleached out. The skin color is too dull after you played with the contrast/brightness so now it doesn't match with the pink.

"that will never die s"? Take out the extra "s". OR if you were trying to make it: "That will. Never Dies" Make it obvious.

I'm also not in favor of the font, its not original and is just black. Give it some uniqueness.

Forehead protector doesn't work... And the flowers get cut off close to the forehead-protector. The big flower right in front of the forehead protector doesn't match your other ones. the background gradient is sorta plain, add some textures to it."

"Set your anchors on the paths in better positions, they will determine how smooth your vectors will be. I.e To get smooth lines place them farther apart and make sure the direction of the vector is the tangent of the curve. The only thing you should be varying is the length of the vector, its direction should always be tangent to the curve you want to make. Try to use as few anchors as possible, especially when they are close together. It really just takes practice. Don't worry my vectors used to look jagged too.. X"

"First of all i think you should clean up the scan a little, the grass texture looks really...boring. And some of the outlines could be smoothed.
I dont' know if all the photos should match up perfectly. You know wut would be cool? I think you should try changing the scan so that in each photo the backgrounds are different, but the characters still match up. Its just an idea. Also the photo's shouldn't have such a deep shadow underneath, because it makes it look like they are floating on top of each other."
