"For a Psu i would highly recommend the corsair 450 i think it is for your htpc, very good stable psu for your needs.

As for the gaming rig i might opt for a thermaltake 750 or a corsair 750, cause that is alot of stuff going on. You better raid those drives!"

"The basics for building a computer would be to use AMD for sub-500 builds, and depending where you buy from, i buy from newegg, you can get a pretty darn good computer for 500 and up. This was my list for my last build,

"Yea, you will be very please with the quad and since *hopefully* the newer games coming out are supposed to be able to take advantage of it, especially the new expansion for crysis, crysis:warhead.

Also encoding stuff goes alot faster with my quad over my old dual.

Otherwise these builds seem solid, i might not put that psu in the HTPC one because you might want to put some more HDDs and/or a raid card in there afterwards, but thats your call."

"I dont really think that they will prevent overclocking but i cannot positively say that they wont, its a possibility.

Back on topic, The nahalem is quite the piece of work isnt it, considering that all these improvements are made and that these tests are only in the 'beta' stages of it all. I think these will be a great improvement even if they arent overclockable."

"Sir i would just build a new computer, save up your money and just go all out when the time comes. Of course i could 'build' you a relatively good computer for around the 600 mark which includes all the parts you need.

I dont think that board supports ddr2 ram or any newer graphics cards which is also a problem. The truth is that even if you upgrade a major part of the computer the rest of the build will bottleneck it.

"I would think of it to be a possible reality for the sole reason of forcing people to buy newer technology. People can take normal older CPUs and OC them closer to the newer ones without any cost at all, and thats not getting a profit for intel. Ofcourse this is the sole fact backing up these rumors. If i can find some links i will post them.

"True unfortunately the price:performance ratio for DDR3 is incredibly pitiful. But, then again, so was DDR2 back when it first came out. basicaly what waruikoohi said.

Ive been hearing talk on reputable forums about Intel forcing Anti-overclocking devices on these new socket boards, which would definetly make me sad."

"Its sad to see what kind of state PC gaming has become, especially as it used to be the peak. Now, it seems to me, that PC games are getting dumbed down just so consoles can play them. The only real pioneer of this age regarding that would be crysis, and soon to be crysis: warhead, both are way to high of requirements to play on a console. I'm glad that these games are holding the flag persay telling people that its alright to design for PC alone.

Whats more so annoying is all of the games on consoles that would be amazing on a PC, Gears of War 2 will most likely come to PC but the Gran Turismo series would be epic to say the least."

"Of course it has awesome graphics, or at least it better. So far the FF series has been almost renounly (sp?) known as one of the best graphics in games. If it has sub-par graphics it will be a huge hit to sales. Wish i could pick this up, but i think ill be okay with my 360."

"In short, no. Of course it was an amazing system, the few games it had were either outrageously ahead of their time and amazingly addicting. Shenmu point in example. I wish i would have bought it, i had to resort to playing it at a friends house. The release of the newer systems killed sales and sega never recovered. Their were rumors about a DC2 but i was never officially announced. in short, no, but in the long run, yes. "
