"Major problems with considering this a habitable planet. sure they said that the planet is roughly the same mass of the earth and about the same distance from the sun as the earth is. however, this means nothing other then it resides in whats called the "habitable zone". nothing says what the composition of the atmosphere is, what the temperature is, or if there is any water. not even going to mention that is planet is so far away that travel there currently is impossible, we cannot even send a probe or rovers to explore this planet without it taking hundreds of years. i saw an interveiw with a scientist, the question asked him was, whether or not they will be pointing radio telescopes towards that planet, to see if any life currently exists on it. his answer was that if nothing had been detected from that direction previously there would be nothing to detect now. this planet may only be inhabitable in the way that we wouldnt be crushed as we enter the atmosphere (atmospheric pressure), that we wont melt or burn to death when we land (average global tempature), and that maybe we wouldnt experiences prolonged amounts of lethal radiation, such as might happen on mars." "Some people watch too many scifi flicks. amrod, first of all, what you want to say is parallel universe not parallel dimension. a dimension is the physical property of length, breadth, or thickness. a dimension is not a universe itself.
if you could, you probably would not want to leave our universe. even a minor change in the physical constants could drastically change reality as we know it. in science fiction, when people travel to a parallel universe, the universe is almost always a nearly-identical copy of our own. however, this idea is highly unlikely and another universe will more likely have different physical rules than our own. if anyone were to travel into a parallel universe or even outside our own universe, most likely they will cease to exist.
also, dark matter does not emit radiation, at least not that the scientific community believes. if dark matter emitted radiation than it would be a whole lot easier to observe it. radiation is light. much of the scientific community thinks dark matter is particles called W.I.M.P.S or weakly interacting massive particles. particles that only interact with the rest of matter gravitationally, thus the reason they are so hard to detect. there was one theory i heard out there that could explain part of the dark matter and all of the dark energy. the theory involved a new force, particle, and additions to what we know about neutrinos.
in this new theory, neutrinos are influenced by a new force resulting from their interactions with accelerons. dark energy results as the universe tries to pull neutrinos apart, yielding a tension like that in stretched rubber band" View

of course one or more details of this paradox has to be wrong, otherwise you and i wouldnt be here. as far as i know no major updates to this concept have been made recently. some people have talked about whether or not light and heat produced by the big bang would have added to this overal amount of light and heat in every direction. however, this paradox is built on the idea of a static universe. i may be wrong but i dont think the concept of a static universe includes a birth by big bang.
some people have claimed to have solved this paradox, but i dont think there is one solution that is recognized by the scientific community. the best solution is that the universe is at least not infinitely old.

it would have to be a star because i believe our only way of measuring somethings age that far away is to evaluate the light received by it. its never turned out to be anything but an error. the age of a planet would be difficult to determine, unless you can actually observe it. i think the current age of the universe is believed to be 13.7 billion years old. even if we could see farther back than this, it still wouldnt disprove the big bang theory, only extend the age of the universe." olber's paradox implies that if the universe is infinitely old and infinitely large, the flux received by stars would be infinite. however this paradox doesnt just ask why is the sky dark at night. the envisioned environment is far more frightening. this paradox implies that in every direction, the light would be as bright as the surface of the sun but also as hot (5785 K).
"Again eikenhein, thank you for answering my question.
back to the the issue at hand
according to relativity, matter must first obtain infinite amounts of energy in order to reach the speed of light. no known matter travels at or currently can be made to travel at superluminal velocities.
my third question
eikenhein, have you ever heard of obler's paradox?
i am aware of the universes inflationary period, but i was refering to something a little more recent. the current state of the universe makes superluminal travel difficult. during the expansion period the laws of physics were probably much different than they are now.
back to the the issue at hand

To please or not to please somebody
1 year 8 months ago
"Pleasing someone is not what is most important thing in a relationship, the truth is sometimes painful but in the long run far better for both parties. take for example, my cousin who got heavy into crystal meth. there were two types of people around him, those who said they were his friends and those who were actually his friends. those who said they were his friends, told him anything he wanted to hear, even though he was jeapordizing his job, health, and family. and those who were his actual friends, who told him what was actually happening to him and by extension his family.
because people some of his so-called friends were not telling him the truth, he was not understanding just what was going on. he would develop paranoid scenarios to explain the bad things that were happening and only his real friends were telling him that these things were not real. because he retained the support of those who only wanted to please him, he was able to push away his real friends, and eventually lost custody of his children.
now this is perhaps an extreme example, but the point nonetheless remains the same. pleasing someone is not the most important part of a relationship, it may hold a relationship together but at what cost? will you sell your soul to please someone? and are you really doing it for that other person or for yourself?
some people try to avoid conflict and feelings of guilt in order to feel good, it is as simple as that. are your good feelings worth the corruption of a true relationship, which is a honest and open relationship? i would rather tell my friends the truth and lose 100 friends, than lie and live in a false relationship. my soul is not for sale. i would rather live with the pain of loss than let my friends make mistakes that will bring them more pain than telling them the truth will.
fye-lover, i would say for the most part, the examples you provided are nothing but consideration for others, which is a great trait to have. however it is a trait that is also easy to take advantage of and people will see this in you and step all over you. you are not a coward, just a kind and generous individual. it is ok to say no to people fye, even if you have nothing more important to do. it is your life and you may live it as you wish. if someone's feelings become hurt, it is not neccesarily your fault, often it is the person who gets hurt fault. for some odd reason in this society every time someone's feelings are hurt that it is always someone elses fault, which is entirely untrue. many people hurt themselves by not being realistic but try and transfer the responsibilities of those feelings onto something or someone else. incredibly selfish and harmful to the person who does that. you dont learn to accept responsibility for your actions or learn how to take rejection or loss when you always blame someone else.
for example, this bullpoop about having no winners and losers in soccer games. losing is not problem, at least it should not be. but since some kids take it hard and parents want to protect their kids, they take it too far and prevent these kids from ever losing. how are they supposed to learn to deal with loss and rejection if they are never faced with it during childhood and when they do how will they react when faced with it in adulthood? never losing is not realistic, therefore in my eyes harmful to the development of children, and will adversely affect their behavior and responses in later life. the only thing i do not like about america is the incredible level of selfishness that exists here." Bringing back the military draft to the U.S.
1 year 8 months ago
"Representative Charles Rangel for the second time is trying to revive the military draft in the united states, basing his decision on what he believes would prevent going to war unneccesarily. unfortunately he apparently does not understand that because we are already in a war, in iraq, that a reinstatement of the draft would only kill more americans, americans that do not want to fight this war. he also does not seem to realize that the draft goes against the ideals of this country, which is freedom, freedom of choice. we might as well be a terrorist state or like north korea and force people to live a specific way.
if this proposal were to pass, anyone who is not 18 yet would have to sign up and face being drafted. those people would be forced to fight in a illegal war and possibly die for nothing. we are not leaving iraq any time soon, once we toppled their government and destroyed their infrastructure, we basically garaunteed our presence in iraq till we at least make their lives as good as when we came in (10 years or more). it sort of our responsibility now.
i doubt the proposal will pass but i am angry that this jackass would even propose it. he says that an all volunteer army is unfair to the lower class, because most of the volunteers come from the lower class. how is that the fault of the middle class and why should the middle class pay for it. why should anyone be forced to lose their children based on some jackasses view of fairness. the fairest and most ideal way to build the military is voluntarily, so that everyone has a choice, including the lower class of the united states. i sympathize that the lower class has less choices about their future, but why should others pay with their lives because of this? how many kids choose to be lower class, middle class, or upper class?
Representative Charles Rangel thinks he is being so clever, but he does not realize the impact it would have to reinstate the draft.

it also proves that women are no better then men and men no better then women, blacks are no better then whites and whites no better then blacks, and christians are no better then muslims and muslims are no better then christians. we are all prejudice descriminatory jackasses who think we are better then we really are. oh why oh why can't god just end it now, its just so lame being here! i hate people and i hate everyone of you!" fye-lover, i would say for the most part, the examples you provided are nothing but consideration for others, which is a great trait to have. however it is a trait that is also easy to take advantage of and people will see this in you and step all over you. you are not a coward, just a kind and generous individual. it is ok to say no to people fye, even if you have nothing more important to do. it is your life and you may live it as you wish. if someone's feelings become hurt, it is not neccesarily your fault, often it is the person who gets hurt fault. for some odd reason in this society every time someone's feelings are hurt that it is always someone elses fault, which is entirely untrue. many people hurt themselves by not being realistic but try and transfer the responsibilities of those feelings onto something or someone else. incredibly selfish and harmful to the person who does that. you dont learn to accept responsibility for your actions or learn how to take rejection or loss when you always blame someone else.
for example, this bullpoop about having no winners and losers in soccer games. losing is not problem, at least it should not be. but since some kids take it hard and parents want to protect their kids, they take it too far and prevent these kids from ever losing. how are they supposed to learn to deal with loss and rejection if they are never faced with it during childhood and when they do how will they react when faced with it in adulthood? never losing is not realistic, therefore in my eyes harmful to the development of children, and will adversely affect their behavior and responses in later life. the only thing i do not like about america is the incredible level of selfishness that exists here."

Bringing back the military draft to the U.S.
1 year 8 months ago
"Representative Charles Rangel for the second time is trying to revive the military draft in the united states, basing his decision on what he believes would prevent going to war unneccesarily. unfortunately he apparently does not understand that because we are already in a war, in iraq, that a reinstatement of the draft would only kill more americans, americans that do not want to fight this war. he also does not seem to realize that the draft goes against the ideals of this country, which is freedom, freedom of choice. we might as well be a terrorist state or like north korea and force people to live a specific way.if this proposal were to pass, anyone who is not 18 yet would have to sign up and face being drafted. those people would be forced to fight in a illegal war and possibly die for nothing. we are not leaving iraq any time soon, once we toppled their government and destroyed their infrastructure, we basically garaunteed our presence in iraq till we at least make their lives as good as when we came in (10 years or more). it sort of our responsibility now.
i doubt the proposal will pass but i am angry that this jackass would even propose it. he says that an all volunteer army is unfair to the lower class, because most of the volunteers come from the lower class. how is that the fault of the middle class and why should the middle class pay for it. why should anyone be forced to lose their children based on some jackasses view of fairness. the fairest and most ideal way to build the military is voluntarily, so that everyone has a choice, including the lower class of the united states. i sympathize that the lower class has less choices about their future, but why should others pay with their lives because of this? how many kids choose to be lower class, middle class, or upper class?
Representative Charles Rangel thinks he is being so clever, but he does not realize the impact it would have to reinstate the draft.

If a GUY was raped, would you still react so much?!
1 year 8 months ago
"By some of the responses in this thread, i think that omnidevil more then proved his point. many do not take the rape of a man seriously, let alone think it can happen at all. this thread has shown that prejudice and bias deffinently exist in this issue. it is a sick and sad world when one victim gains preference over another based on some physical difference, in this case sex. it also shows us that such biases based on sex, race, and religion exist with other matters too. it shows that prejudice and descrimination is alive and well in our world, and even those who fought against such attitudes to gain equal rights (in this case women) can be just as prejudice and descriminatory as those they fought against.it also proves that women are no better then men and men no better then women, blacks are no better then whites and whites no better then blacks, and christians are no better then muslims and muslims are no better then christians. we are all prejudice descriminatory jackasses who think we are better then we really are. oh why oh why can't god just end it now, its just so lame being here! i hate people and i hate everyone of you!"
