Quad Core in Laptops?

"It will be awhile, first i wish to see dual core processors become much cheaper for mobile purposes before quad core mobile technology comes about. Battery life is more of a concern than having multiple cores for a laptop. Seems like overkill at the moment. "

Overallt hose looking at sub 500 computers should go AMD whereas those above should invest in intel, but at this time Nehalem is just around the corner. "Future proofing is not a great idea, if one were to continously purchase such technology as DDR3, which has no real gain compared to other things, and Quad cores, one would not be able to gain any performance. Only a very, very few programs benifit from quad. Otherwise, just go Dual, best bang for buck, and better overall performance for any application. "

"Intel's line of quad cores currently available like the Q6600 is the way to go. AMD line of quads are cheap, but the performance gains are minimal to the average user. At this point, you can purchase a quad core at reasonable prices, comparable to buying a high perfomrance Core 2 Duo. Push come to shove, its all about the budget of the build. "
