What is good or what do you like about Lucky Star?

"I like that there are cute little pieces of Japanese life in it, as well as the fact that it's generally hilarious. Things like traditional New Year celebrations and foods, visiting temples, cosplay cafes - these are the main things I like about the show. The characters also have little quirks that are interesting, particularly Miyuki with her forgetfulness.

The Shoujo-A parts are also hilarious."

How do you carry yourself as an anime fan?

"I don't see why I should be ashamed of my interests. I'll wear an anime shirt if I think it's nice, and I own a NERV purse. I listen to Japanese music, and a lot of other music as well. It's not really a big deal. If someone asks if I'm into anime, I'll just tell them the truth?

Also, I don't insert random japanese words into my vocabulary, because I'm not an idiot and also not Japanese.

Genres you generally stay away from

"Harem, romance, sports (I avoid sports anime like the plague), and a lot of shounen and shoujo anime (but not all) tend to be crap. I'm usually weary of some mecha titles as well, although some I've really enjoyed.

I really like comedy and ninja/samurai anime as genres, and dramas are generally good too. I like some shounen, like Bleach and Fullmetal Alchemist. I like yaoi and yuri as well, although there seems to be a bit more well done yuri. In short, I like a little bit of most genres.

Art quality and character designs usually affect my liking of the series the most, though. If the character designs are shoddy or too simple, it's really difficult for me to get into the series."

"I actually prefer manga over anime. I like to take the time to enjoy the story and art, and I love having all these books to read over and over again. Animation has a lot of things going for it too, like the voice acting, music, fluidity of the animation style, etc. I just prefer to read. ;)"

How do you choose your manga?

"I usually know the general synopsis of almost all the manga in the comic store, because I'm a huge freaking nerd. Sometimes I've seen the anime before I read the manga, and sometimes I'll become interested after reading stuff about it on the internet. I do sometimes buy manga because the cover art makes me happy, as well. I also buy way too much manga.

The next ones on my to-buy list are Death Note and Welcome to the NHK."

"Mononoke Hime, without a doubt. I love all of Ghibli's films, but Mononoke just stood out to me for some reason. The art, and the story and the way it's told. What I think I really love about it most of all is the nature vs. humans aspect of it."
